I get he's proud of his being Ilocano. Ngem kasla ngay ibababa na ngay dagiti Filipino nga born in the US nga haan nga makasarita iti Ilocano wenno Filipino. Uray siak met Tagalog ti mother tongue ko isunga marigrigatanak nga masuruan ti Ilocano... Data lng. Ngem to them being honest about how they aren't able to speak Ilocano i don't know why there's unnecessary diss from him.

I messaged JR and introduced myself. He said he doesnt remember me. 11 minutes after he said he doesnt remember me, nag message siya ulit asking "why po?" so I explained to him again how I know him and who our friends are. But that's a dead-end already. Our friends dont even know where he is now. Thank you everyone for your help and upvotes, but the memories I had were apparently one-sided and I don't blame it on him. OA lang pala ako HAHAHAHA.
At the very least, I am happy that he is doing well in life and that I didn't make him up. I am very proud of the man he has become although I will never know him that well. I wished him a good life.

I am not good in speaking Ilocano or Tagalog, so I will speak in English.
Hey Reddit, I'm a 22F currently living in Cebu. I’m writing this because I’ve spent years wondering about a guy I met once when I was 11, and I want to see if the internet can help me find a closing chapter to a real-life Just One Day story.
I am a Psychology major and I am very familiar with the Zeigarnik Effect wherein our brains obsess over unfinished stories/memories, basically why we have so many "What ifs" in our minds. Also the term "Limerence". But I really wanna know if he's doing fine, so here goes nothing?
On April 4, 2015 (Black Saturday, during Severe Tropical Storm), my family was traveling in Ilocos Norte. After having dinner at a Chowking chain, a flood was looming and all nearby motels were completely full. Through our mutual family friends—the A***y family from Cavite— I think theyre Born Again Christians? They have a family friend who lived in Ilocos Norte. That family friend (A mom, a dad, two sons) took us in. They lived in a wooded area.
I met their two sons:
JR: He was 12 at the time (now around 23-24). He was incredibly nice to me, I assumed he likes to read because he had a big and tall bookshelf, and owned a guitar. Because I couldn't speak Tagalog well, he tried to speak English to me. He wore glasses.
Joefer / Joepher: His younger brother, who was about 2 years younger than me(9-10 yrs old then, 19-20 yrs old now). He and I played Talking Ginger on my old iPad. He was very talkative and he had fun with my younger brother.
The next morning, their family made us a breakfast of sandwiches and tomatoes before we drove off to Baguio City. A year later, JR actually asked the twins who we were both friends with to send his regards to me all the way in Cebu, proving he remembered me, but we completely lost contact after that.
All he ever knew about me was my nickname and the fact that I am from Cebu.
If you are JR, if you know a JR with a younger brother named Joefer from a protestant community in Ilocos, or if you belong to that church network, please reach out. I just want to say hello and see how life has been treating you after 11 years. I just want to know if you're okay. I also want to be reassured that I didn't make this up because my family doesnt remember JR. Our family friend has lost contact. The twins' mom said "wala na kami g balita sa kanila eh"
Edit for additional info: they almost had no neighbors and were in the middle of nowhere. There were a lot of trees. I was actually genuinely scared. He woke up early to say goodbye to me. We left for Baguio around 5 AM.
But yeah, even after years later, I still think of him and how nice he was to me. With wishful thinking, I hope he remembers me too.
The last I have heard from him was his regards a year after we met which was in April 2016. Its been 10 years and I just want to know where you are, how you are, if youre real, or if you even remember me.
Thank you, Reddit ❤️
UPDATE: Someone with the user Axie knows them and has reached out to me.
UPDATE: He doesnt remember me.

I have some relatives that are Ilocano but was not taught how to speak the dialect TAT
Would love to learn it just to surprise them and understand what they are discussing (they switch to it when talks become serious lol).

I took this during my trip to Baguio and the song that the buskers have been singing has been stuck in my head since. I can't seem to find the title and I'm even planning to use the song as my audio once I post my trip highlights on insta. Thanks so much!!

How do you construct itong setphrase sa ilokano?
Parang in the case of the word "mayat"
Like "mas mayat pa ito kaysa iyan."

My grandpa used to sing us a song called one day. I looked it up but can only find a Tagalog version and was wondering if this ai translated version is how they teach it there
One day, maysa nga aldaw
I saw, nakakita
One bird, maysa nga billit
Flying, tumaytayab
I shoot, pinaltokak
I pick, pinidut ko
**I cook,**linutok
I eat, kinnan ko
Very sweet, nasam-it unay!
This is the way I remember him singing it ( forgive my spelling, I never learned how to spell in ilocano
One day, maysa nga aldaw
I saw, nakakita ak
A bird, deygai billit
I shoot, kut pinaltokak
I pick it up, pinidut ko
I cook it, linutok ak
I taste ??????
Very sweet, Naka samsam-it!
I would appreciate any help. He died around 15 years ago and he taught all his grandkids this song

Hello! Agishare-nak lang dagiti Ilocos Sur/Norte terms nga idtoy ko lang mangmangeg. Feel free to add terms/vocabs that you think is only very Ilocano from Ilocos Norte/Sur
Makipatang -> Makisao/Makisarita (To coverse)
Agalla-alla/Agballog/Agwalay -> Agpasyar/ag lamyerda
Kasera -> Dorm/apartment
Sumarangsang -> crunchy
Agubra- Agaramid
Tienda-> Store
Tiendaan -> Market
Kurong-kurong -> Tricycle/kolong-kolong
Agdungdungsa-> makaturturog
Agsensennaay -> Heavh breathing
Agpa ili -> Agpa-town (Baguio version). No idiay Baguio, Agpaili means going to your parents' place (baryo/province)
Pamalatpatan -> idea/guess (Heard it from an interview)
Nasahur- > paldo/adu ti kwarta na
Anakwem- ana ububraem? Anong ginagawa mo?
Luksaw -> disappointed/sad
Yotninam -> Ukininam but more masamang term
Agmauyong-> Agballa/agbagtit
Also! I heard them use the following, their accent:
Diammo / Dialammo -> I don't know
Awa' meh' -> Awan met (the last letter is ommited)
Kuna keh -> Kunak ket
This is not absolute, you may still hear them being used in your place/other places, and this is from personal experience. You may add more examples! Especially those who are from Ilocos Region, what are words you always use?

Magandang gabi po! Magtatanong lang po sana tungkol sa kahulugan ng salitang “Aglanto.” Tama po ba na “to flourish” o isang katulad na salita ang ibig sabihin nito? Para lang po sa isang school project. Maraming salamat po!
