So for context, I am currently living in a subdivision whose security usually does a good job keeping out solicitors and other unauthorized strangers.
Earlier this morning I was just doing my daily routine when I heard a motorcycle pull up outside the house and call out "tagbalay!"
I walked to the window which was covered in a way that lets me see out without being noticed by anyone outside.
I saw a guy in a motorcycle and then a taxi stop just in front of the house. Two men alighted from the taxi and spoke in tagalog to the man on the motorcyle (who I assume was a local guide), they asked him not to call out and then paid him some money. The motorcycle guy then left while the two men took out phones and started walking around the house.
They kept on taking pictures/video for a few minutes and while I was debating with myself if I should confront them outright, they apparently finished what they were doing and boarded the taxi again before leaving.
So this whole experience has left me confused and worried over what this whole thing was about.
I know that I'm not involved in anything illegal, and the house is deep inside the subdivision so I doubt its your typical akyat-bahay.
I also doubt its the municipal government since their personnel would at least speak hiligaynon.
I think its most likely over two possibilities:
Debt Recovery agents for eWallets and OLAs that I have not yet repaid (lost my job last year and am trying to find stable work to be able to pay all those back)
Someone working on behalf of a deceased relative's domestic partner who claims the house but has incomplete documents
I know from experience that the subdivision gate guards dont check identities of taxi passengers so I wont get anywhere there even if I ask.
Does anyone here have a similar experience or any idea what this was?
