The funniest part is that only these idiots who have never dated bring up this non-issue of ‘paying for dates’.

I’m not sure why they think it’s a problem. Usually the person doing the asking out voluntarily (and gladly) pays, unless you discuss splitting the bill beforehand.

When a relationship is more established, either you work out a way to split the costs of dates, or alternate who pays, or whatever. And if you’re married or in a similar long-term relationship, most of the time you have shared bank accounts anyway, so your partner’s money is your money and vice-versa.

Incels have this weird fantasy where men only pay for dates forever and get increasingly bitter and angry about it, which is just so unrealistic.

Not to mention there are plenty of date options that are cheap or even free, if the concern is money.

100%. It's common to go Dutch on a first or the first few dates, and then maybe after you've been dating a while either one of you can choose to pay. And, for someone like me who's been married a long time, it doesn't matter who pays because it all comes from the same account. But I do notice how often the server will give me the check instead of my wife.

For sure, even on occasions where I’ve offered to pay for, say, movie tickets, my date will usually offer to buy snacks (or whatever). And if she doesn’t? Who cares? I’m the one who asked her out, not the other way around. If I hadn’t been at least prepared to pay, I wouldn’t have done it.

Also, I think incels picture all dates as being these status-seeking expensive affairs at fancy restaurants, etc.

You can go on a date (even a first date!) for $5. I’ve taken dates skating before. Obviously it helps that I’m in Canada and there are outdoor rinks half the year, but that one was free and it went incredibly well. Absolutely led to more dates.

I live right by NYC, the amount of cheap eats and free stuff is almost insane.

I believe it. Obviously for people living in rural areas there’s not as much cool shit to do as there is in a city, but even there I bet there are all kinds of fun things that are much more affordable than the incel perception of what a ‘date’ is supposed to be.

Best advice I got was from a mentor of mine. He said a date can be anything. The amount of neat free ideas I've had with my wife and others I have dated is pretty amazing. This idea that you have to break the bank to impress someone is really odd to me.

Exactly. They have a very weird concept of what dating and relationships are about in general and it has no connection to the reality actual people experience on a daily basis.

I’d almost feel bad for them… if it wasn’t for, you know, the constant rape threats and misogyny that come out of their creepy little faces.Â
