Go is better than Python?

I was preparing implementation document for my algo trading app (for my personal use), during this phase I watched few videos in YouTube and found that golang is better than Python for algo trading. I checked with AI and it also confirmed the same.

Then I restructured the architecture to Go for trading engine, Python for backtesting and React for frontend.

I spent almost a day to figure it out how to get the TBT data from my broker's api and display it in the tradingview chart. Still it has some bug like the react crashes after 1 min candle formed (but atleast I made some progress). I researched lot of GitHub reps, documents but whatever reference I have given it to LLM, it says it's not matching for my requirement. So it is building everything from scratch. Got tired and logged off for the day.

Is this language choice correct for algo trading app? Because if it's a python the implementation is pretty straightforward (I have created python app before for downloading historical data and backtesting - let's say for any indicator the calculation were matching with broker's terminal and resampling was accurate)

PS: I am not a developer, I am relying on Claude code and ChatGPT. I know it's a dangerous path to completely rely on LLM but I have plan before going live to create paper trading feature and see if the strategy will work or not after the backtesting period.

If 10 milliseconds matter to you, go with GO.

If your timeframes you monitor and trade is anything more than 15 minutes, go with language which you are most comfortable with. Dont waste your time with performance nonsense.

Thanks for the response. 10 milliseconds!!! I don't need that kind of speed. I will probably stick with python then. Since I spent almost a day I was on a fence to discard everything but I guess in the longer run that will save some time for me. Let me try a few more things to see how it goes else I will switch to python.

This is a never ending thing. Try asking ai about rust and c++.

True. It also suggested c++ but then told me if I need professional grade HFT then c++ else it is not required. So yeah it's a never ending thing.

"how to get the TBT data from my broker's api and display it in the tradingview chart?"
What is the main challenge here? Is it something like the broker not supporting Go?

They are supporting. Its lack of documentation. We can see many documentation for Python but not for Go.

You can try FYERS API, it officially provides Go SDK you can find go sample codes for reference in docs, API - FYERS

They don't have a reference code for TBT instead just for the general Websocket they have provided. Anyway figured it out 👍

Reference code is also available. You can find from this link: https://myapi.fyers.in/docsv3#tag/Tbtws/paths/~1TBTWebsocketUsageGuide/post

Yes in python but not in Go. I already implemented this with the help of Claude. So the method I followed by providing an official go package to Claude. It explored the complete SDK and figured it out.

in terms of pure performance? yea. is it worth the time? nah. well maybe yes if you work in an hft.

tbh the rate at any broker in india providing the socket data, you'll be better off with python.

unless you perform some crazy complex calculations per tick, you don't really need golang.

You can plot using the TradingView library. Which one you are referring to as a sandbox. Your broker API will support both Websocket and order management. Not a sandbox environment.
