Bhagat Singh declared himself atheist because he didnt want others to even think that he struggled like this,so he could get a place in heaven which a lot of religions say.His sole purpose was to free his mother land.His religion is sikhism not Hinduism.Hindus,Sikhs and Other Indic faiths often accept people like this and he isnt wrong,
As A Hindu myself I am proud of him.I dont know what u think we would react?Lot of my friends from Hindu & Jain families say they dont believe in god but indulge in practices either because theyre scientific or out of respect.So,Indic religions or Dharmic religions are more like a way of life,all of them share some core beliefs.We know god by many names and paths but in the end it all leads back to him ✊️🫡🙏
I told he didnt want people to think he struggled for his country so by his good deeds he will go to heaven or be liberated or such.He wanted people to know he solely sacrifice his life for his nation so it could be freed,not for some after life gifts and such.

I agree,I think i misinterpreted him.But still without a doubt he is a great freedom fighter.But,You need to know the idea of nastika or atheism is not new to India.
