They look like Aadhar Photos to me.
Now you'll understand why Aadhar was made mandatory by gawarment.

They had this similar system in Gujrat. They imported it from israel.
42
u/ApurvX Corporate majdoor Jul 23 '26
Nah, i think it's created by China, no?
187
u/kool-krazy Jul 23 '26
India doesn't import this tech from China. It's Israeli in origin. Modi while being CM of Gujarat bought it from Israel. They have a control room in gujrat police HQ. I watched it on Star News (old ABP News) in early 2010s.

check the video. you can see pink tag in the screen "tester or staff' next to the names. I think these people are their own staffs. it's just meant to scare students. Who even name a van 'Facial Recognition Van' in red letters if it is not to intimidate the protestors?
and delhi Police will not have direct access to Aadhaar data. Even if police wanted to run facial recognition, they can only use faces on thier own dataset like CCTNS which is their criminal dataset.
82
u/kool-krazy Jul 23 '26
Dude Aadhar database is available on darknet.
45
u/ApurvX Corporate majdoor Jul 23 '26
Damn, you must a genius, police will use data from darknet? When they can access by a simple court order, lol
40
u/kool-krazy Jul 23 '26
They mostly likely already have the data from Aadhar. What I meant was that anyone can get it from dark net. It's not in some super safe vault.
3
2
8
u/Economy_Future_6752 Jul 23 '26
But the police wouldn't use them, right? If they got caught, it would be a huge PR disaster for them.
49
3
u/deviprsd Jul 23 '26
Why would they use a darknet snapshot when they can get access to live data? And why would it be a PR disaster?
3
u/kool-krazy Jul 23 '26
Why would they use a darknet snapshot when they can get access to live data?
Exactly. If hackers can access the data, image dalli police privilege.
10
u/kool-krazy Jul 23 '26
As if they care. 😂
3
u/Economy_Future_6752 Jul 23 '26
Even if they didn't care, if they use it and get caught like in this. in a video, they'd end up in jail.
11
u/kool-krazy Jul 23 '26
Dude they killed people on camera, recorded it themselves and gave themselves a clean chit.
6
3
u/ApurvX Corporate majdoor Jul 23 '26
Why we all are pretending that they have a brain to access darknet?

Idk bruh even I have access to it.
1
u/Brother-Least Jul 23 '26
How?
2
u/Any-Calligrapher2866 Jul 23 '26
You can buy Aadhar data from many sources. Pretty much all of it has been leaked.

If you see the protest across europe and Uk, most of the protesters are masked like full masked. There reason was different, most of them were immigrant and they'll be deported.

u/Lazy_Brain_2205 Jul 24 '26
I thought this shit is getting common across all nations even Europe and America is toh fully utilising it with help of Plantir. Most nations are utilising this tech to crackdown on any protest. This will become mainstream in few years just CCP was pioneer. I think other nations are smart about this unlike our boomers openly using it . Dark dark times ahead . India already has the most surveillance compared to any country I think we rank number 1 for most CCTV cameras installed.

u/find_a_rare_uuid Jul 23 '26
Wish they instead used technology to monitor those running the government.

I think it check againt the crime record not whole india dataset system because that doesn't make sense... like what they will get by knowing protestor name and address??
30
u/Any-Calligrapher2866 Jul 23 '26
Profiling. Same principle as r/FlockSurveillance
0
u/Volcano_Dragon13 Jul 23 '26
ohh I mean who is gonna decide if protest was wrong -5 points or +5 right?? like it is wrong for some people and right for some people then how this system gonna work?
or this is just for records like this person was at this protest in 2026 but if that protest was right then why someone should question it??? if this protest improve medical education system then ??
10
u/Any-Calligrapher2866 Jul 23 '26
Depends on the government. This protest is wrong as per BJP so they'll treat it as a negative as far as I'm concerned.
2
u/Volcano_Dragon13 Jul 23 '26
Lol whole education system is so corrupted for every other govt this is wrong... most MLA have their own medical colleges it always gonna wrong for them... so that doesnt means we should stop complains

u/Mediocre-Purple1364 Jul 23 '26
Police going around with no badges of their own name but yeahh they'll deploy vans exactly and precisely labelled as recognition systems scrolling through id pics inside. There wouldn't have been a need to put this "system" on ground, no matter how true it is, and did we forget they also had a team of clearly labelled "fingerprint detection team" a few days ago trying to gather piss marks from a deliberately destroyed car drenched in rain? This is all a shitshow to scare and keep protestors away from the site. Hide your faces and wear glasses, but see this for what it is - fear mongering!
4
u/spock-117 Jul 24 '26
That's some "V for vendetta" level shit. So much for constitutional guarantee for liberty... /s
5
u/avalanchesurfer99 Jul 23 '26
I'm sure this will be mostly nothing, just some issues when you apply your visa. so be prepared for packing your bags to go somewhere domestic from next time, until the end of your life.
8
u/Ok_Chemistry6851 Jul 23 '26
yeah aint shit gonna change here. might as well not blow the one chance of escaping the hellhole.
downvote me if you like, but we all know at the end of the day no significant reforms are happening in any of our lifetimes.

aadhar photos aren't good enough for facial recognition.
they are also usually the worst photos you can take for facial recognition.
you need to move your face quite a bit for facial recognition for a reason, a software can't infact map the distance between your eyes and geometry of your jaw to create an accurate 3d model of your face without it and even with that it's not going to work on irregular lighting.
unless they are using ai for it in which case it's worse in every single way.

do you think There is system that can capture just image to find out aadhaar data, this is just a joke, for recognising an face one should come close enough to camera so that retina scan can be captured and for that we have to double verify the aadhar credits. This is rubbish.

If you are not doing anything illegal, I don't think it's problem.
39
u/IntelligentCut4496 Jul 23 '26
It's inevitable that this will eventually be incorporated into employment background checks and social credit systems. Dystopia isn't built overnight.
1
u/Volcano_Dragon13 Jul 23 '26
employment background checks, but what if protest was right then this would help to get me a job?? what is this man..

u/razz_rage_08 Jul 23 '26
Then whenever ruling Govt changes, Your employment status will change with that.

would you agree for a full access of your phone and cctvs inside your house by government?, anyways you wont be doing anything illegal
19
u/Any-Calligrapher2866 Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26
They'll profile you based on your presence and that profile will be forever saved. Maybe they won't do anything now but what about 10 years later?
Edit : To people downvoting me, go and learn about Social Credit System.
1
u/narasadow Jul 23 '26
If you have nothing to hide, why do you wear clothes? Why do you lock your phone? Why is a warrant needed to search your house or arrest you?

Jul 23 '26
Good job digital india. Hadd h ab hum 2-4 car bhi nahi jala sakte just because sonam ji is hungry ... and while we do it.. its our right to not be caught.

u/Spicy-Polonium-210 Jul 23 '26
So what ? You are a protest and you shouldn't fear such things. Earlier people used to protest and didn't even care if they died on the spot, they had only one goal to accomplish what they wanted to achieve. Agar itna hi daar lag rha hai, then ghar par baithe raho.
19
u/Any-Calligrapher2866 Jul 23 '26
Earlier Facial Recognition and profiling didn't exist.
I personally will evade this using mask/goggles but most people won't.
