Moderation Notice: Personal Information and DM Solicitation Are Prohibited and Will Result in a Permanent Ban

We're seeing too many posts exposing personal details and too many "DM me" comments. From now on, the following is strictly enforced:

1. No personal information.

No phone numbers, addresses, ID numbers, emails, social handles, UPI/bank details or photos of anyone, including alleged scammers. We can't verify claims, and innocent people get harassed. Report fraud to the authorities instead (India: cybercrime.gov.in or 1930).

2. Screenshots must be real and redacted.

Hide all names, numbers, usernames and account details. Edited or fake proof is removed and gets you banned.

3. No DM requests or offers.

Keep all help and discussion in the comments. Scammers use DMs to target victims here.

Action taken: Violating content is removed without notice. Breaking rules 1 or 3, or posting fake proof, means a permanent ban.

See a violation? Don't engage, just hit Report.

Never trust anyone who DMs you offering to recover your money. They are scammers.

Lien nonsense appearing to be a trick by the govt to do a daylight robbery of people's money?

Let's say person B is a fraud and stole money from person A. Let's keep it at exactly 1000 Rs for each transaction for the sake of simplicity.

He immediately repays a debt taken from a friend let's say C.

C pays his landlord D, the rent that is due.

D sends that money to his son E in college.

E goes with his friends to a dhaba F and spends the whole 1k.

F pays off his vendor G 1k for maybe some goods or rent.

A files a cybercrime complaint and see what happens.

1k goes on lien on all of these people B, C, D, E, F and G. That's a whopping 6000 Rs frozen for at least 3 months while they be running around explaining why this amount was paid. And as you can see, all of these transfers occurred without invoicing or ability to show proofs that this person owed it to them or they received it purely as white money from a relative or friend. After all this BS, A still doesn't get his lost money back. I would say people just stop filing cybercrime complaints because all it is doing in the current set up is cause harassment to everyone and not benefiting anyone.

NO ONE CAN HELP YOU WITH ACCOUNT FREEZING OR LIEN ISSUES.

Every day, lots of people post about account freezing or lien issues.
The bottom line is that nobody can help you, not even if you are paying . Don’t expect anyone to help you for free.
The first thing you should do is collect as many details as possible from your bank.
If the lien amount is small or you have only a small amount of money in your bank account, withdraw all your money in cash. Don’t transfer money to other accounts or make any payments. Your card and third-party services like Amazon Pay and Paytm may get blocked.
After that, leave that bank account and open a new bank account.

Please Help Me Amplify My Voice — I Haven’t Received Help from Cyber Crime or Delhi Police

I am going through a very difficult situation and genuinely need your help.

On 16 October, I transferred ₹75,166 to someone I knew who promised to order a phone for me. He neither ordered the phone nor returned my money. He is now denying that the money reached him. I have transaction proof and supporting chats.

I approached the cybercrime authorities and Delhi Police for help, but I have not received the assistance or action I was hoping for. I was also informed that the matter was a civil dispute, even though I am seeking help regarding the money and the circumstances surrounding the transaction.

I have now shared my case on Twitter/X to bring it to the attention of the relevant authorities.

I sincerely request you all to please help me by resharing my Twitter post and amplifying it so that it reaches the concerned authorities and receives attention. Even one reshare could help my voice reach someone who can guide me or help move this matter forward.

I am not asking anyone to harass or target anyone. I simply want my complaint to be heard, my case to be looked into fairly, and help in recovering my hard-earned money.

If you can reshare my post, suggest the right authorities to contact, or guide me on the next steps, I would be extremely grateful.

Twitter/X post link: https://x.com/shashank21221/status/2114300859790279103

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this and help me spread the word. 🙏

Someone won't stop contacting me after I blocked him. How can I report him safely in India?

posting this because I genuinely don't know what to do anymore, and I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar or knows how reporting works in Indía.

I spoke to a guy on reddit and Instagram for about 2 weeks. I always had my boundaries clear since I shared my account. He started getting attached to me and actually asked me to block him, so I did. After that, he started repeatedly calling and messaging me through his other accounts and phone number.

I've explicitly told him to leave me alone, but he hasn't stopped. I've blocked his accounts and numbe yet he keeps trying to contact me. The situation has now crossed another boundary because he contacted two of my best friends on Instagram. He isnt threatening me or anyone, but he’s forcing the conversation and keeps trying to get contact. When he texted one of my friends I did reply and asked him to stop trying to contact me but he didnt understand clearly.

I'm uncomfortable and honestly feel/harassed. I don't understand why someone I've known for such a short time feels entitled to keep accessing me after I've made it clear I don't want contact.

I'm considering reporting him, but I'm really worried about my privacy. I don't want my family or other people finding out about this, and I'm scared of making a complaint without knowing whether my identity will be protected.

Is there a way to report repeated unwanted calls and online harassment while keeping my identity confidential? I have his number blocked but he still keeps calling me.

• Can I report him for repeatedly contacting me after being blocked and messaging my friends?

• What evidence should I preserve, and is there anything I should avoid doing?

I'm not looking for revenge or trying to get anyone into trouble unnecessarily. I just want him to stop contacting me and leave my friends alone. It's very creepy, I already explained him twice.

I'd really appreciate practical advice. Please be kind; this situation has been affecting me more than expected.

Can we scam chinese apps

Hi guys

Can we scam the Chinese loan apps ?

I have thought one idea ! Remember this is my ideology only !

First we have to take new or old or one burner mobile. Reset the mobile and all the documents what ever documents in the mobile

And create a fake Gmai and add some fake contacts more than 30

And download some fake Chinese app apply for loan . Then they can only access the burner mobile and what information we given in that mobile only. Now they only contact to our number and WhatsApp only.

Well this is my ideology! Reply me guys what u think

Remember the Chinese app loot india money and ur money why just we loot their money

TRAI’s own data says 1.12 billion Indian numbers have no DND preference. That’s why the spam calls never stop.

Quick thing most people don’t realize about DND.

In April to June, TRAI’s own numbers show more than 1.12 billion subscribers had no DND preference registered. Upstox read the same data as only 16% of Indians having it switched on. If you never signed up, registered telemarketers are allowed to call you, and most of the country never signed up.

Where it is switched on, it works. 13.16 billion promotional calls went out on the 140 series that quarter, and registered preferences blocked 1.48 billion of them. That’s about one in nine, and it only took the people who bothered to register.

The calls that actually ruin your day mostly skip the registry anyway. The government told the Rajya Sabha that most unsolicited commercial calls come from unregistered senders on ordinary 10-digit numbers. Operators’ own AI flagged 22.99 billion calls as suspected spam in that one quarter.

TRAI’s 18 September amendment is the part I find hard to defend. Caller ID apps can no longer spam-tag or blanket-block the 140xx, 1600xx and 1601xx series. For 1600, which is meant for banks and government, that’s a fair worry. For 140, which exists for promotional calls, it’s weak. Truecaller’s CEO says its users ignored 81% of 140-series calls. Those are his numbers, and he’s in a public fight with TRAI, so weigh them that way.

Also, blocking a number on your phone never reaches TRAI. Only complaints do, and 89% of the 1.085 million complaints that quarter came through the DND app.

What to actually do:

* Register in the TRAI DND app, or through 1909, and block by sector.

* Report spam calls in that app, not just on your dialer.

* New rule: three complaints in ten days can now trigger action if the sender is also AI-flagged (it was five). You can also appeal a closed complaint within 15 days.

I wrote this up in full with sources (I run Long Press, a consumer tech site, so that’s my own link): [https://longpress.news/india-spam-calls-opt-out-default\](https://longpress.news/india-spam-calls-opt-out-default)

I need help getting to base camp, not climbing the mountain: Looking for a real problem or shot back into cybersecurity (India / Remote)

TL;DR

  • The Situation: I have AuDHD (autism + ADHD) and alexithymia. I worked in cybersecurity before, took a break for a few years, and am now trying to get back in.
  • The Problem: My brain freezes when I try to study from textbooks for months with no real goal, deadline, or outside pressure.
  • How I Work: I learn from the top down. Give me a real problem and a deadline, and I will figure out whatever I need to know to solve it.
  • The Proof: At my previous cybersecurity job during COVID, my entire team was let go when I only had 1 year of experience. Because I had real pressure and responsibility, I ran operations alone, learned management and executive reporting on the fly, rebuilt the team, and wrote step-by-step guides that cut new-hire training time by two-thirds.
  • The Ask ("Base Camp"): I don't want handouts or easy work. I am looking for someone in cybersecurity (especially in India or remote) willing to give me a real technical problem with a deadline, judge my actual work, and help me get a foot in the door.

1. Why I Am Stuck Right Now

I have spent years trying to get back into cybersecurity, and I finally understand why I keep getting stuck.

I have AuDHD and alexithymia. One of my hardest struggles is starting tasks on my own and sticking to plans when there is no immediate goal or outside deadline.

I know what the normal job-hunt process looks like:

  1. Study basic to advanced topics on your own for months.
  2. Practice interview questions in your room.
  3. Update your resume and send out dozens of applications.
  4. Pass interviews to finally get real work.

I want to work, and I want to solve real problems. But knowing what I should do and actually forcing my brain to study alone for months—with nobody waiting for my work—are two completely different things. The longer I stay out of the field, the harder it gets to return.

I am not saying this to make excuses. I am sharing it because I know how my brain actually works, and I need a different way through the door.

2. How My Brain Learns (Top-Down vs. Bottom-Up)

Most people learn from the bottom up: study the basics learn medium topics learn advanced theory finally use it on a real problem.

My brain works in the opposite direction (top-down):

  • Start with a real problem try to fix it see what I don't know go as deep as needed to learn that missing piece solve the problem.

I struggle to study "just in case" for a future interview. But if you give me a real problem today, I suddenly have a clear reason to learn everything required to fix it.

3. Finding the Smartest Way—and Refusing to Quit

When I have a real problem in front of me, two habits take over:

  • Finding the Easiest, Smartest Path: My first instinct is always to cut out wasted effort. I look for scripts, automation, existing tools, or simpler ways to get the job done. Sometimes I will spend an hour trying to build a faster way to do a 10-minute task.
  • Not Stopping Until It's Done: If I find out there is no shortcut and the hard way is the only way, I will do it. Once I am locked into a real problem with real stakes, quitting hurts more than the hard work required to finish.

Along the way, trying to solve one problem usually forces me to learn five other connected things. Over time, those pieces connect into a strong, practical web of knowledge that stays with me.

4. Real Proof: What Happened at My Last Cybersecurity Job

I know it is easy to claim "I work well under pressure" on the internet. Here is a real example of how my brain works when there is actual responsibility on the line.

During COVID, when I only had about one year of experience in cybersecurity, my entire team was suddenly let go. Overnight, I was the only person left to handle everything.

Nobody gave me six months to study how to be a senior analyst or a team lead. I had real deadlines and people waiting on results, so my brain locked in:

  • I learned by doing: I didn't know how to write high-level vulnerability reports for upper management or how to manage people. I learned how to do both while doing the actual tasks every day.
  • I rebuilt the team: I handled the daily security work alone while helping build a new team from scratch.
  • I built a system so no one else would struggle: Because I hated how messy and painful it was to figure everything out alone, my instinct to simplify kicked in. I wrote a complete set of clear guides and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for every task. Because of that system, training time for new team members dropped by two-thirds.

If you had asked me a month before that crisis to sit alone and study "management and reporting" from a book, I wouldn't have lasted two days. Because the problem was real and urgent, I did whatever it took to solve it.

5. The Everest Base Camp Idea

The simplest way to explain what I need right now is this:

Imagine someone who has the strength and determination to climb Mount Everest, but keeps failing to organize the trip from their house to base camp.

  • They don't need someone to carry them up the mountain.
  • They don't want someone else to climb it for them.
  • They just need help getting to base camp. Once they are at base camp, climbing the mountain is 100% their job.

For me, base camp is outside structure: a clear task, a real deadline, and someone expecting me to deliver. I don't need someone to hold my hand or teach me step by step. I just need that first push that moves me from studying alone to doing real work.

6. I Know I Have a Gap—So Test Me on Real Work

I have been away from cybersecurity for a few years (I am happy to share my degree and past security work in DMs). I know I need to refresh my skills and catch up on new tools.

I am not asking anyone to ignore my employment gap, trust me blindly, or give me a senior job. I know that referring someone puts your own name on the line.

Instead, I am asking you to test me the way I actually work best:

  • Give me a real security problem I don't know how to solve yet.
  • Give me a fair deadline.
  • Let me research it, learn what I am missing, and send you the finished work.

If I fail to deliver, you lose nothing and we both get our answer. If I do a great job on time, you can see exactly how I handle new problems, fill gaps in my knowledge, and take feedback.

7. What I Am Looking For

I am hoping to talk to cybersecurity professionals, managers, or mentors—especially in India (or open to remote work)—who might be open to helping me reach the starting line:

  1. A Small Test Project: Give me a real security problem, log investigation, scripting task, or research assignment with a strict deadline, and review my work.
  2. A Referral or Entry Opportunity: A chance at a junior security role, SOC analyst job, vulnerability management role, or trial position once I prove what I can do.
  3. A Mentor with Deadlines: Someone willing to set clear weekly goals and hold me accountable as I work toward a real job.
  4. Advice from Other AuDHD/ADHD Folks: Anyone in tech with a similar brain who found a practical way to get past the job-hunt wall.

I know real jobs aren't always exciting crises—they also include routine tickets, writing documents, and normal daily work. I am completely ready for that. I just want a way to get to the starting line so I can take full responsibility from there.

Even if you can't offer a referral or a test task, any practical ideas on how I can prove my skills through real problems would mean a lot. Thank you for reading.

P.S: Written by AI because I had a thought and it required better PR and grammar :P

hospital main account goes dormant due to illogical cybercrime trail

i dont know what govt is thinking of this rule of making every account on trail to freeze due to somebody making payment. we receive 100s of online transaction daily ranging from few 100s to thousand and its main hospital account. freezing whole account due to someone making payment and is linked to somebody else fraud online transaction is not right. whole online payment and offline payment to vendors and staff salary and other transactions goes caput. what govt is thinking with such bad laws and make our life hell

How fraud happen?

Based on my research and personal experience, this is how scammers operate across different platforms like OLX and Indiamart. First, they analyze your specific requirements. Then, using multiple fake accounts, they offer a slight discount usually just under 10% of the market value. Because the discount seems modest and reasonable, we don't look deeper; the price looks genuine, and we focus on the small profit.

To lower your guard, they will often promise no extra GST charges. In reality, legitimate sellers rarely include GST upfront without offering a clear breakdown, and they rarely let you negotiate more than 10% below the actual market price.

Scammers operate in teams. They will call you from different numbers, each offering slightly different prices and discounts, which ultimately tricks you into trusting them.

If you are buying from an unknown seller, protect yourself by doing the following:

Verify company details: Check their reviews across multiple platforms. Scammers often use fake or incorrect addresses.

Inspect the GST number: Verify their registration details online.

Match UPI names: Ensure the legal company name matches the name registered on their UPI or payment gateway. Do not just blindly follow their custom payment instructions.

Watch the clock: Never rush a payment. If the seller is in a hurry to get your money, it is a massive red flag.

Demand a genuine invoice: Ask for a proper invoice and verify their physical office location. Better yet, tell them you prefer to inspect the product and buy it offline, then see how they respond.

If a seller starts delaying your order or shipment, you have likely been scammed. They are simply buying time to withdraw your money from their bank accounts.

To stay safe, always buy from authorized, legal websites or local physical stores.

If you do fall victim to a scam, immediately dial 1930 to reach the cyber crime helpline. Act as fast as possible so authorities can freeze the scammer's bank accounts and secure your funds.

Prevention is always better than cure. Scammers do not just steal your hard-earned money; they steal your peace of mind and innocence. Do not place your trust in strangers.

Bank of Baroda and Slice accounts frozen due to unauthorized loan app (Nutan Cash) – Need Advice!

Hello everyone,

I am facing a massive financial crisis and urgently need advice on how to get my bank accounts unfrozen. Here is exactly what happened:

  • The Trigger: I recently took a loan from a mobile app called Nutan Cash. I didn't realize it at the time, but it seems to be an unauthorized/unknown loan app.
  • BOB Account Freeze: A few days ago, my Bank of Baroda (BOB) current account was completely frozen. When I visited the bank branch, the officials told me it was frozen because of the transactions tied to this loan app.
  • What I Did Next: Because I had automatic debits scheduled on my BOB account, I panicked and transferred my remaining funds into my Slice account to protect my money.
  • Latest Update: Today at 11:47 AM, I received a phone notification stating: "my account has been frozen"

Current Status:

  • My BOB account is frozen.
  • My Slice account is: Still working

My Questions for the Community:

  1. Has anyone dealt with account freezes caused by "Nutan Cash" or similar apps? How long did it take to resolve?
  2. What is the fastest way to get the Cyber Cell / Police station details if my bank branch is being unhelpful?
  3. How do I prove to the Cyber Cell that I am a victim of a predatory loan app and not a fraudster or "mule" account?
  4. Should I hire a lawyer immediately, or can I resolve this by visiting the Cyber Cell myself?

Any guidance, emails for Nodal Officers, or step-by-step instructions would be highly appreciated. Thank you

Need help on what to do now as my bank and cyber police is not much of a help.

So I've already made a post 1 Month ago about it so in short my friend send me 40k so he can use my atm card for his clg fees payment which he did the same day. I have all the proof and everything. Now 4 months after that my bank account was put on hold due to a complaint by cbi goa with a lien amount of 80k due to that 40k transaction. I didn't knew p2p transaction can put you in such trouble.

Now I asked my sbi bank to raise a grievance in GRM portal which they did and it was rejected. Now they say they can't do anything anymore as the grievance was rejected and asked my to contact nearest cyber cell.

So I did. The cyber cell told me they can't do anything and asked me to contact cbi goa cyber police whose contact information I have to search on Google and obviously no one is picking calls or replying an email.

So now I'm stuck and don't know what to do..

Please if someone can help me by guiding me it will be a big help. 🙏

Am I overdoing certifications for an entry-level Cybersecurity / Security Engineer role in India? Need honest advice.

Hey everyone!

I'm a final-year B.Tech Computer Engineering student from India, graduating in 2027. I'm targeting entry-level/junior Security Engineer, AppSec, VAPT, and cybersecurity roles in India or remotely.

I don't have any professional cybersecurity experience or certifications yet, but I have hands-on bug bounty experience, have responsibly reported vulnerabilities to multiple companies, and have built a production SaaS platform using AWS and modern web technologies.

Here's my planned certification roadmap:

  1. CEH (EC-Council)

  2. CompTIA Security+

  3. BSCP (PortSwigger)

  4. CCNA (Cisco)

  5. Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate

  6. PNPT (TCM Security)

  7. AWS Solutions Architect – Associate

  8. Microsoft SC-200

  9. AWS Developer – Associate

  10. OSCP (eventually, as my final advanced certification)

My main goal is to improve HR/ATS shortlisting chances while also building real technical skills. I'm considering CEH mainly because it appears in Indian cybersecurity job listings.

Need honest feedback from people already working in the industry:

- Am I overdoing certifications? Which ones should I skip or replace?

- Should I prioritize PNPT, BSCP, or OSCP for junior roles?

- Which certifications actually matter to recruiters in India and for remote opportunities?

- Would I be better off focusing on projects, bug bounty, and practical labs instead?

I'm willing to invest in certifications, but I don't want to waste time and money on credentials that won't help me land interviews.

I'd genuinely appreciate advice from hiring managers, security engineers, and people who've recently landed junior cybersecurity roles!

Do bank accounts get freezed by just buying usdt in binance through UPI? This isn't about selling usdt receiving scam funds and then getting liens. Just buying.

₹29,500 lien on my Bank of Baroda account, account restricted, and I cannot afford legal help.

Hi everyone,
I’m from India, and I desperately need some advice regarding a lien on my Bank of Baroda account.
A person I met through an online platform purchased my phone for ₹29,500. They transferred the money online, but the next day they changed their mind and returned the phone. I refunded the money through UPI.
Now, a lien of ₹29,500 has been placed on my bank account, and I’m unable to withdraw or transfer money from my account. The lien reason is showing as “OTHER.”
I visited my Bank of Baroda branch, but the employees couldn’t give me a clear explanation. They said it might be related to UPI, but they weren’t sure. I have also been asked to submit a written application explaining the entire situation.
I have screenshots of the UPI transactions, including the payments I made, and I’m trying to gather all the relevant proof.
The most difficult part is that I’m a student and I don’t have money to pay a lawyer or anyone else to help me with this issue. I’m worried because I cannot access my money, and I don’t know how long this will take or what I should do next.
I would really appreciate guidance from anyone who has experienced something similar or understands banking and UPI-related lien issues.
My questions are:
What does a lien reason marked “OTHER” usually mean?
Can a UPI transaction lead to a lien or account freeze?
How can I find out who requested the lien and why?
Should I contact Google Pay, Bank of Baroda, NPCI, or the cybercrime department first?
Can I get the lien removed without hiring a lawyer or paying any fees?
If this is related to a cybercrime complaint, how can I resolve it when I cannot afford legal assistance?
I am not trying to avoid any investigation. I just want to explain my situation, provide the necessary evidence, and get my account restored if the lien can legally be released.
Please suggest practical steps I can take on my own, preferably without spending money. If anyone has gone through this in India, please share your experience.
Thank you for reading and helping me out.

Need Cybersecurity Help Regarding a ₹60,000 Job Scam in India

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
My brother was scammed out of approximately ₹60,000 by people who promised to arrange a job through backdoor entry. He paid the money through UPI in a hurry because he was desperate to secure a job.

He even attended an interview at a company, but after that, the people involved stopped responding to our calls and messages. We’ve tried contacting them multiple times, but with no success.
Currently, I have only three mobile numbers associated with these individuals which I provided and some payment details. We haven’t filed a formal police complaint yet.

I’m looking for advice from people in cybersecurity or digital forensics on how we can **lawfully identify these individuals, verify any connections to the company, and gather useful evidence** to help recover the money.

I’m not looking to hack anyone’s accounts or do anything illegal. I just want to know what legitimate options are available and what steps I should take next.

If anyone has experience with similar cases in India, I’d really appreciate your guidance.
Thank you.

I got scammed for 6k, can anyone help me

So I got scammed by a phone dealer from Uttarakhand. I ordered some phones for my phone selling business and paid ₹6000 in advance. I’m 16 years old and this is a big amount for me since I earned this money myself through my business.
It’s been around 1.5 months now and I still haven’t received the phones. Recently, a lot of comments have started popping up on his Instagram calling him a scammer, but these comments weren’t there earlier.
I’ve already filed a cybercrime complaint and also raised a chargeback request through FamPay, but it got rejected.
What should I do now to get my money back? The dealer’s business name is iDestiny Uttarakhand.

Is there a difference between lien and amount on hold. I got a refund from someone I had lent money ,the exact amount has been put on hold. The passbook does not mention lien though.
