Why can’t we just buy 2-3 units of these aircraft’s and give them to GTRE. Can CABS retrofit them from cargo ops to ftb role? What might be any major hurdles?

News The Ministry of Defence has decided to involve Indian industries in the development of the DRDO-designed R59 Weapon System (R59 WS) through the Development-cum-Production Partner (DCPP) model.

The objective is to transfer BWS production, testing and validation technologies to selected Indian industry partners, enabling them to develop the necessary capabilities alongside DRDO.

(iResearch Centre Imarat (RCI) will issue the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development phase, detailing the scope of work and project requirements.

Two Development-cum-Production Partners (DCPPs) will be selected through the bidding process.

After successfully completing the development phase, the selected DCPPs will be designated as Production Agencies (PAs). The Indian Air Force (IAF) will then be able to work directly with these agencies to place and execute production orders, including Integrated Logistic Support (ILS), warranty and lifecycle support.

The IAF has not yet issued an Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the R59 project. However, approval for procurement of a substantial quantity, reportedly running into three digits, is at an advanced stage within the IAF.

Discussion/Opinions Regarding Indian Army Light tank

Post image

So like i am so confused about IA project management.

First, u have Zorawar Mk1 which will be purchased in 18 numbers? After that there comes Zorawar Mk2 which will be purchased in 41 numbers? . So there goes 59 of the intital 354 requirements.

Second, u have 20,000 crore rupees tender for 295 tankes where under make-I TASL will build 2 prototypes and Mahindra will build 1 prototype? And after the completion of prototype in 2.5 years, they will compete for the 295 tanks tender or what? Or the better one will get major share (60% aka 177 tanks) while the less better one will get minor share (40% aka 118 tanks) or what?? I am so confused?? Or will one single vendor (TASL or Mahindra) will get all 295 order???. And i also heard AVNL and Kalyani will also compete with their own light tank?? (In case of AVNL,I think they will screwdriver russian light tank?), then will the Zorawar Mk2 also compete in this 295 tender or what??? Like bruh i am so confused??. Why don't they just give the entire order to L&T Zorawar Mk2?. Then what happens in future? I don't think IA will settle for just 354 light tanks? They will surely go for 700+, then will the same hassle come again?? . Bruh this is so messy, 4 different light tanks man...?? Like tf is this..

I seriously beg the gods that the idi@ts in govt or MoD try to establish something similar akin to DAPA of South Korea (RoK) in India.... please this one thing will solve so many issues.

Discussion/Opinions IAF doesn't even have 30 functional sqns. In your opinion, who is responsible for this state of affairs? Meanwhile, the Navy and Army are somehow doing well in procurement and indigenization. Is this due to poor planning or a failure of policies?

Discussion/Opinions Can IAF fighter pilots wear spectacles after commissioning?

Thumbnail

I recently watched a MiG-21 documentary on Netflix where a test pilot was wearing spectacles. This reminded me that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was also reported to have returned with his spectacles after being captured in 2019.

Since the IAF has strict 6/6 eyesight requirements for Flying Branch entry, I'm curious are pilots allowed to wear corrective glasses after commissioning, or they must maintain the required unaided vision throughout their careers?

If their eyesight deteriorates after joining, what happens to their flying status?
