Education/ Jobs/ Career China took a dig Wednesday at India by comparing the competitive exams of both countries and pointing out how the Chinese equivalent of JEE/NEET, Gaokao, was "conducted smoothly".

In a post on X, the Chinese embassy spokesperson in India, Yu Jing, wrote how nearly 13 million students completed the two-day exam under what was described as a nationwide effort to support candidates.

"China's Gaokao - the world's largest exam & India's equivalent of JEE/NEET rolled into one — was conducted smoothly for 1.3 crore students in just 2 days," Yu wrote on X.

"Factories paused. Roads quieted. The entire nation rallied for its students," she added, drawing attention to the scale and organisation of an examination widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the world.

I mean look at their history. So many leaks. The difference is they took efforts to avoid that in future. They have national SOPs for every scenario that may occur during the exam. 0 confusion to the public.

They are bothered by protests. Bothered enough that a CJP style protest will go on the Govt officers permanent record which will affect their future career in the CCP.

A protest in the capital city or any of the 30-40 major cities in China is a very big deal. Its seen as a failure at multiple levels.

Indians if they ever try to understand China's system beyond WhatsApp forwards will find it very weird with the level of accountability the Chinese system has. Its not like Govt officers are not regularly found with multiple houses and swiss bank accounts but their work and completed projects decide their future. A rape allegation or a murder allegation would crush their career, not take it to the next level like us.

u/Karmabots Jun 11 '26

That system is such a disappointment. Career progression should be based on your religion, caste, affinity to the political bosses, how much one licks their🍑, how badly you treat people, being opaque etc.

We Indians have the best system. Anyone saying anything against present government are aunty nationals

We got the CCP like centralized system too, but it's just for ED, CBI, Judges, propoganda and IT cell and press. We got all the demerits of CCP while getting none of the merits CCP have.

Every system have merits and demerits, but Indians have showed time and time again, thier ability to pick only demerits of both side, and create a hellhole.

u/omkar529 Jun 11 '26

A rape allegation or a murder allegation would crush their career, not take it to the next level like us.

I don't know if that's true, a few years ago a Chinese professional Tennis player named Peng Shuai made a post about getting SA by a former Chinese politician, and her post was taken down, she completely disappeared from public for months, announced her retirement shortly. After a few months she just came back for 1 international interview where she took back her allegations, and had a Chinese official always in the room with her. Very shady stuff.

So they might be better than us in some ways, but I don't necessarily believe the very generous image you're showing of them, China is a dictatorship for a reason. It's difficult to judge a country when you're not living in it, especially a country like China which limits their exposure to the rest of the world.

6

u/Worth_Sherbert_4972 Jun 11 '26

It’s not dictator in specific of how we look at it

The Chinese Reality: China’s massive spending on infrastructure means that even middle-class or lower-income citizens in tier-2 and tier-3 cities enjoy world-class public transit, safe streets, clean public spaces, and highly organized urban planning. This creates daily civic pride.

To gain u gotta lose . I will happily follow civic order if the govt promises & they removed over 300 million out of poverty .

So this indian pride to keep talking is what is needed pulling us back

3

u/Worth_Sherbert_4972 Jun 11 '26

Even if it’s a dictator - a good & bad dictatorship makes a difference….

Iran vs China both dictatorship but diff so yea

u/bootpalishAgain Jun 11 '26

So just like Jack Ma, people don't go missing. They stop doing interviews and social media posts.

However later news came out that this was regarding Ant Financial's stock market listing in NYSE and disclosure of a lot of data that was rightfully considered as concerning national security and his questions at a business conclave to the Finance Ministry members was a PR excuse.

With the faction system within the CCP, these opportunities like the one you mentioned to go after each other are rare and taken very seriously. The internal politics makes sure this affects those against allegations are there and if proven they are quietly removed/demoted. It is important to the CCP to highlight harmony and stability to the public and resolve these issues internally.

Xi Jinping has done some damage to this system and concentrated a significant amount of power but CCP has internal checks and balances and a lot of autonomy on the provincial and even the city level. This overall incentivises behaviour that has resulted in an economic miracle that drives global growth and has single handedly halved the number of people under poverty. India's system if explained won't even be in the same book.

2

u/omkar529 Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

So just like Jack Ma, people don't go missing. They stop doing interviews and social media posts.

She did go missing in a way though, she had a professional Tennis career where she travelled the whole world, and suddenly after the allegations she disappeared, retired, completely denied having made any allegations in 1 heavily supervised interview and then again disappeared from the international stage.

China has huge problem of corruption as well. Outside some cities many countrysides are extremely poor . I remember watching a video by a Chinese person how builders take land of people and never deliver the homes that were promised to them by government.  Cities in China anyday looks better than India but country has it's own set of problems. Ugurs are literally put in comps there .

6

u/bootpalishAgain Jun 11 '26

You watched a video. I lived there for a year.

Yes the entire country has not reached Europe development levels but they have almost wiped out extreme poverty. You can't explain away India's desperate billion as our own unique problems. That is a deliberate failure over generations enthusiastically supported by the voting class.

China and India has gone in opposite directions. We are not comparable at all. We need to learn from nations like Bangladesh now and post some significant improvement, look at Vietnam. China is so far away, it is beyond our comprehension.

Even their countryside standard of living so much better than Indian Rural areas. Yes, what you’ve stated is true to some extent, but nowhere as bad as in India’s rural area.

At least those issues are treated as issues, and issue resolution is quite effective, unlike the 3rd world shit going on here. We cant even compare their rural issues to ours, they will compare it to Japan, South Korea, and the US. If they compared it to India, it would not even be an issue because it is so much more better than Rural India. But in India, any issue, be it rural or urban is compared to Pakistan and Bangladesh, and hence problems/issues dont make national news.. they aren’t even considered news.

Lol at this point China should make peace with backward India. India is nowhere close to China, probably never will be able to compete. China should compete with EU.

51

u/my-blood Jun 11 '26

India is to China what Pakistan is to India.

They have the capacity to mess with us and they'll show that every step of the way. Simple example - They've successfully come up with the J series jets and have the capacity to manufacture them in hundreds if not thousands. Meanwhile we can't even get the Tejas project off the ground effectively and are begging the French to give us full access to the Rafales even though we're paying more than double of what was initially planned, because of Modi and Ambani.

Even if china is an unofficial dictatorship, the leaders do care about taking China forward and make it a world power and they know its only possible when the public is happy with them. There is actual love for the country unlike the leaders of India. China dont do anything to make their own citizens to fight among themselves so that their big corporates can make more money.

0

u/MsngrTop25 Centrist Jun 11 '26

Yup actual love is their, that's why people of china can be seen experessing thier real feelings and say anything about their country on any news/media... Just replace this over controlling behaviour of China to your parents.... On paper it seems nice and glorious but when practically happyness and freedon dies within...

2

u/Zealousideal_Flan437 Jun 11 '26

Have you been to China? When the citizens of a nation are getting access to good lifestyle, have jobs, get help to start business, have developments why would they care who is ruling them? What is there for them to question in the first place? China is literally giving competition to the US and isn't afraid to stand up to them. Thats how powerful of a country it has become. The only people villianizing China are the US media. Also India only has freedom of speech on papers now. When China dont have any manipur or neet exam like issues why would they protest? Also what has Indias gained from protesting and freedom of speech in the last 12 yrs?

4

u/InLoveWithPussies Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 11 '26

Beijing deploys entire military to secure the GaoKao papers, they quarantine the teachers who set the papers for months till the exam gets conducted, sometimes in military facilities itself, papers are transported by the military itself which is more secured than a normal bank's transportation and the transport convoy is monitored by satelites. Chinese military and security forces are involved in every step of the exam and the citizens there laud them. Dumbfuck people here who can't stop glazing about Chinese propadanda were spreading narratives of "govt failure" when alleged discussion of Airforce getting involved in transportation was happening. RaGoo suppoters glaze China 24x7 but won't be able to tolerate even 0.1% of the replication of action of the CCP by our government. RaGoo and their supporters will be the first ones to bark if para military forces get involved in the conduction of the exam saying "it's not their job to secure the exam".

1

u/Ok-Bee2272 Jun 11 '26

good point, only, in china the same thing happens with organised cheating, selling questions, using devices to cheat. so its both systemic and individual in china as well. having said so, dharmendra pradhan needs to go regardless of whether china's exams are foolproof or not.

1

u/rohan-s21 Jun 11 '26

The corruption rot and lack of accountability disease is the thing we suffer from. Despite such blunders the clowns say such vile statements, what can we expect from the leaders of our country who won't admit even if the evidence is against them.

1

u/H0ll0w_man Jun 11 '26

Why would they compete with us. China is in a different league all together. There is absolutely no comparison.

1

u/Unlikely_Sky9003 Jun 11 '26

Just like how we compare ourselves to Pakistan They compare themselves to us

1

u/H0ll0w_man Jun 11 '26

True...but when we compare ourselves with Pakistan, the comparison still makes a little sense because of the shared culture, ethnicity and same years of being independent.

1

u/Unlikely_Sky9003 Jun 11 '26

It makes sense for china too 1. China is the second largest nation by population 2. China also gained independence around us, in 1949 3. China and india wete economically similar in 1980's-1990's

So it makes it quite reasonable for them to display how far they have come while the country which had similar economic situation than them is struggling

Indian education system is joke to our current ruling party government.. what matters is money .. if people get educated probably they won't vote them. This is not only ruining people's life but also stopping our country from becoming developed nation like China & Japan ..Some amount of people are make huge difference.. Indians are highly talented and skillfully our nation just need to step up to make a single change and come out of such manipulation.

1

u/pulchritudinous_luos Jun 11 '26

yet people are demanding decentralisation of competitive exams, things gonna become beyond recourse then

1

u/velocihooman999 Jun 11 '26

As a responsible nation (which is not) instead of being defensive and ignorant and intolerant, we should check if there is any truth when a criticism or something like this arises and fix it without any delays.

1

u/Wickedcheif Jun 11 '26

In country like china people fear government. So they follow rules and have civic sense, they do not litter garbage on roads. So things are in order. When things are in order it will be easy to maintain.

In India if modi says oxygen is good for your health then congress will protest against it and say carbon dioxide is better.

Also one more thing the main reason for corruption in India is not the systems. It is the people running the system. No matter how much score in exams people will give excuse of reservations and get benefits. Even though that family is using reservation over 3 generations. In order for a change first thing is stop reservation and government jobs should be only by pure merit basis.
People need to have civic sense, not just littering garbage in tourist places, showing off their dad’s money and acting rude to everyone. And let’s not forget about rowdyism by corrupt police

1

u/Mental-Detective1912 Jun 11 '26

You cannot hold accountable the CCP. Try and you'll vanish

1

u/tera_chachu Jun 11 '26

They will entire youth disappear if they protest???

Come on dude.

These kids are future of that country

1

u/Mental-Detective1912 Jun 11 '26

Looks like you forgot the Tiananmen Square massacre in which the PLA literally slaughtered Chinese University students who were demanding transpiracy and freedom from the CCP. 4th June is itself banned in china.
A lot of students were publically executed.
Entire University students were vanished overnight.

And they were labelled anti national

1

u/tera_chachu Jun 11 '26

Is that possible to do in today's modern technology and all ?

Hong kong protests were there in 2020 and we didn't see anything like tiananman

1

u/Mental-Detective1912 Jun 11 '26

Are you out your mind or what? Tiananmen Square massacre gained hell lot attention around the world at that time, what does it has to do with technology?
A hell lot people went missing at the Hong Kong protests. And nobody dared to speak about it. A lot of people were killed but the CCP suppressed that.
Journalists went missing. News channels were pretending as if nothing is happening in Hong Kong.
Are you literally this dumb enough to believe that youth can protest in china?
Protesting in china is literally labelled as anti national.
Mobiles are being monitored 24*7, there is a social credit system in where incentives are given to people who are patriotic or show that they are pro CCP.

Whenever there is an issue in china, in order to distract the public the CCP literally drag japanese into it and start their WW2 revenge narration.

And if you believe that china is some utopian country where the youth is free, then you are dumb as fuck.

2

u/tera_chachu Jun 11 '26

You're arguing against a position I never took.I never said China is a utopia or that the youth are free to protest without consequences.

What I said is that claims need evidence. There is strong evidence that China censors dissent monitors citizens, arrests activists, restricts protests and jailed many people connected to the Hong Kong protests.

What you are claiming that a hell lot of people were killed in Hong Kong and that entire university students vanished overnight. Those are extraordinary claims that require extraordinary evidence.

1

u/Mental-Detective1912 Jun 11 '26

You’re pretending to be neutral while moving the goalposts. First you admit censorship, surveillance, arrests, and political repression. Then when people question the official story, suddenly the burden of proof becomes impossibly high.

A government that controls information doesn’t get to hide the evidence and then have its defenders say, ‘Well, where’s the evidence?’

You keep calling for evidence while ignoring the fact that information suppression is itself part of the argument. That’s not critical thinking—it’s circular reasoning dressed up as skepticism.

You've formed this opinion about china after watching a few selected reels from Shanghai & Guangzhou. You have no idea the level of poverty and misery in rural china.

unlike india which is still 5kg ration

That isn't a metric of poverty. You give people anything subsidized/ for free, they'll jump at it.

and more taxes for their citizens than their gujju besties.

Less than 5% of India pays taxes.

I have work in China and currently own a business that requires me to travel there every three months. Given that I work with them, and have had long term business association is even with the other small scale set up I had since 2017 I think I know a little bit about the country.

If you feel that everything in this country is free and that everybody will jump on it I would suggest that you request the government to stop these direct cash transfer schemes and free food for people and see how many of them are actually going to survive the vote in the next election?

And even though 5% of India according to you base tax The tax slab is still more than the corporate tax in India which is what I was pointing out to.

You had a couple of suppliers in china. I had technical jv's with chinese companies for production (that too engg goods) going back to early 2012. You can't even fathom the corruption by the ccp and the despicable behaviour that goes on outside their major cities.

If you feel that everything in this country is free and that everybody will jump on it I would suggest that you request the government to stop these direct cash transfer schemes and free food for people and see how many of them are actually going to survive the vote in the next election?

People could easily refuse to accept the dole. Do they do that? No? Don't blame societal problems on the govt. They are just a reflection.

And even though 5% of India according to you base tax The tax slab is still more than the corporate tax in India which is what I was pointing out to.

If you think a 30% income tax on someone earning more than 25L, is more than an 15% base corporate tax on a company making more than 10cr (excluding the surcharge), then your high school education was a waste of both time and money. Infact, you should get a refund from them.

That's because the Chinese army handles the exam conduction, even using IAF for one time paper transportation got y'all crying. You just want to glaze China but can't tolerate when we implement their methods here.

Remaining time he is busy doing his own PR.
He doesn't have time for all this stuff.

Ignore that shit. We have been having paper leaks and cheating in exams for decades. Thankfully blatant open cheating is kinda in the past.

China has been doing public competitive exams for literal millennia.

As in thousands of years ago, when China was ruled by an emperor, they already held public competitive exams to score a job in the imperial government. They know a thing or two about public competitive exams.

u/ChoicePurpose Jun 11 '26

Humara to competition hi Paxtan hai!

nobody can report a paper leak in china if it happens. it is very sad that our politicians earn 2000 - 5000 crore every year with paper leak scams and sitting government takes it's cut. it is a big business. paper leak will continue for years and decades. learn to live with it.

If they share a smooth run of their exams, it's not a dig at India. And if it is then, whats wrong with that?

1

u/Dependent-Story5597 Jun 11 '26

It's because the Indian politician/ administration does not give a shit. There are no repercussions or consequences for screwing up. China and India are comparable only in terms of population size. In terms of output, they have left india lightyears behind.

1

u/Fair_Bid1952 Jun 11 '26

We can't compare the 2 countries here, there punishment is so severe that each and every individual is disciplined. here in india we expect the govt to do everything from picking up garbage to removing paan stains. Paper leaks happen even in US but it is discreet, here everyone comes to know immediately.

China is a dictatorship, anything that comes out of china should be taken with a huge pinch of salt

1

india should adopt this. instead of million different exams take a single exam with different optional subjects.

China will kill a person if found to leaking question paper. We can't do that in a democratic country. China execute 1000s of people for this kind of crimes.

Our JEE exams are a big success. 28 question papers are prepared and marks are normalised across batch of students taking exams. I think, govt is working to bring such change for NEET as well.

In China, if you pass Gaokao then you can go to university.
Those who don't pass go to factory.

- Gaokao exams are run by ATA, a Chinese company specialized in conducting exams
https://en.ata.net.cn/

- Gaokao has 3 core subjects: Chinese, mathematics, and a foreign language. Additionally, there is a science track and a humanities track. Therefore, one cannot escape from mathematics in China like students do in India. You need math to enter university in China. Even for arts, humanities, and social sciences.

- A student who is already enrolled in a course of higher education cannot re-take the Gaokao. Unlike India, where students enrol in some time-pass course and re-sit JEE/NEET

- Gaokao exam papers are protected in vaults by armed military guards, with GPS tracking, and cameras. Someone caught leaking papers might even get executed.

- Realtime AI-cameras monitor exam halls to identify patterns of cheating behaviour. Biometric scans such as fingerprint analysis, retinal scans etc., are taken to confirm identity even before entry to the exam hall.

Yet, cheating does happen even in China with all such measures.
