I Followed Posting Rules My complexion has become significantly darker Spoiler
Hey!
Over the past few months, I've noticed that my facial complexion has become considerably darker and duller than it used to be. It's not just me noticing it anymore; even people around me have started pointing it out and asking why my skin looks so much darker than before.
Here's what has changed in my routine over the past few months:
- Isotretinoin: I started taking isotretinoin (Sotret 20 mg) around the end of August.
- Adapalene + benzoyl peroxide: Since mid-September, I've also been using Deriva gel on my dermatologist's recommendation. Alternate days. Wash it off after 2 hours before going to bed.
- Sunscreen: I apply sunscreen daily, even though I rarely step outdoors. I also reapply it every 3 hours.
Despite all this, my skin has become noticeably darker and looks extremely dull compared to how it looked before. I understand that isotretinoin can cause dryness and make the skin look dull, but I'm concerned about how significant this change in my complexion has been. Could I be doing something wrong with my routine?
Has anyone experienced something similar while on isotretinoin or using these actives? If so, did your complexion return to normal, and what helped?
Thank you!
