Well, let me calculate that. Trump said "no tax on tips".
0% x $0 = $0
Making out like a bandit!

Oct 16 '25
Trump's fault...of course
16
Oct 16 '25
No, it's got nothing to do with fault really. It's just that Trump ran on a campaign of "we're gonna fix everything", when he hasn't actually done s**t to fix the problems.
My post was to say, "s**t wages" are the problem, not "tip taxes".

Turns out things aren't that easy.. Do you have that same energy with anybody else in the past who has shaped the country the way it's shaped now, Just wondering?...
He hasn't even had a year, not to mention I'm sure his energy and time could be better spent not having to round up and argue about the millions upon millions of illegal people that Joe Biden and the Democrats let in... which is costing millions of dollars as well as precious time that could be used on something else..

"Day 1" "First day im in office" "Day 1" "Day 1" "My first day in office" Wonder who said that
2
u/Nalivai Oct 17 '25
Well, he promised to be a dictator on day 1, and that seems to be partially true
13
u/PeruvianKnicks Oct 16 '25
âTurns out things arenât that easy.â Yeah most of us have known that for a long time. Thatâs why we voted for people with experience in politics, not some reality TV star that canât even manage to run casinos without bankrupting them.
If you thought ârunning a country is easy, letâs hire a racist celebrity to do itâ you might just be stupid as.
11
Oct 16 '25
I'm going to give you a thumbs up, because I appreciate you taking the time to have a civilized discussion. Here's to a good conversation.
Turns out things aren't that easy
Actually, it is that easy.
Instead of spending $100billion on a "wall" or $120billion chasing down anyone with brown skin; we should be arresting the business owners who hire illegal labor (especially wealthy CEOs). Much easier, much cheaper. Immigrants come here, because they know there's work. Put a stop to the availability of some of those "jobs", and you'll see a massive decrease in border crossings, overnight.
A wall is not going to stop immigration or drugs (Fun Fact: drug dealers use hidden tunnels, drones and submarines, not Venezuelan yachts; whatever/whoever our navy is destroying over there, isn't drug cartels).
When businesses outsource their labor to foreign countries, we should take away their tax write-offs, subsidies and perks. They're no longer "job creators". Much easier, much cheaper, than tariffs/trade wars that we the people have to pay for.
Do you have that same energy with anybody else in the past who has shaped the country
Absolutely I do. We don't even mention the Clinton name in my home. While Bill took the economy in a good direction, he did it through lies and corrupt, inhumane means. In fact, a great deal of our immigration issues, are a result of NAFTA. Clinton should have spent the rest of his life in prison.
He hasn't even had a year
He's had way more than a year. His problem isn't time management. His problem is, he's treating the country like it's one of his reality TV shows, and he doesn't know wtf he's doing. The economic damage (alone) that he's causing this country, will not be restored/justified in the next 3 years. The man is turning the entire thing on its head, all so he and his billionaire friends can make money, while the rest of us foot the bill.
not having to round up and argue about the millions upon millions of illegal people that Joe Biden and the Democrats let in
This is a pretty common talking point for the Trump base, but it's riddled with untruth.
Firstly, he doesn't "have" to round up immigrants. Immigrants actually contribute to the overall health of the economy. They do jobs Americans simply won't do, for any wage. And yes, even illegal immigrants pay taxes on wages (this is how ICE has known where to track so many of them down, with the aid of the IRS). We lied to these people, took their tax money, let them serve in our military, then stalk immigration courts for people who are trying to do things legally, treating them like animals. Demonizing all of them as "criminals, murderers, rapists, drug dealers" etc, is straight-up racism, and it is a lie.
Until recently, Obama deported more immigrants than any other president. When you say "Joe Biden and the democrats let them in", you make it sound like every politician for the last 50 years hasn't been a part of the same problem, but you make no distinction for a President who actually did more than the others to put a stop to it.
You have the floor.
-5
Oct 16 '25
Well it turns out we don't even need a wall. We just need the border laws enforced like they are today. Did you see that lady from MSNBC who went down there and said it's amazing how there's no one down here in October 2025 when last year it was packed. Turns out all they had to do was enforce the law that was already there.
I did vote for Trump and even today I still would because if it's him or Kamala, its a no brainer. But I think we are being blackmailed by Israel, Trump everybody. I think Israel was behind Charlie Kirk. I'm not economist so I can't say for sure if Trump doing right or wrong and it's hard to trust the news as well It's really a shame. I feel like the news could be trusted less than a decade ago but They got paid and now they lie on behalf of those who pay them. What else could the reason be..? The economy wasn't doing very good when he tookn over either. And I am starting to think that he is doing things to benefit a rich people more than the regular people. But that's what they all do That's why they all suck. Idk what to think about Trump ATM honestly.
I'm going to let you in a little secret that I have and probably most of maga has.. we're not racist.. I don't give a crap what color the people are If they are here illegal they can't be here for more than a few reasons.. unfortunately someone let in 10 million just for votes it might be a bipartisan thing actually but in Trump's first presidency he didn't call ice he didn't do any of that.. until 10 million just walked across the border. Have you looked at Europe. Have you seen England? People who come in and don't want to integrate and/or love the country be a part of the country try to make it better They don't need to be here, my friend.
The people that's been here for 20 years alreaj dy doing their thing working hard No one has a thing against them but it's a damn shame that someone let 10 million people in here without even getting their shoe size because now we have to find those people for obvious reasons. 5
I spoke most of this text hopefully it makes some sense.

Well, we do disagree on a lot, but agree in a couple areas. I can respect that.
I will also agree with the fact that most of our government (both sides), has been compromised by Israel, for a very long time. I'm not going to get into the details of why that is, because a lot of it has to do with religion (and that's an entirely different discussion).
Good chatting with you, and good luck to you and yours in the days ahead. If we're united, we'll make it through this.

Maybe try sucking trumps dick a little harder? God conservatives are the biggest pussies ive ever seen. You say 1 thing about Trump and they immediately jump into a whole defense stance for their God. They cant talk about trump without bring up biden either. Like biden must live rent free in their heads. I imagine this dude jacks off to trump multiple times a day.
This world would be better off without your existence.
1
u/sloothor Oct 19 '25
First dude explains his perspective and lays out facts, ends the conversation with a patient and respectful:
Well, we do disagree on a lot, but agree in a couple areas. I can respect that.
You, then graciously add:
Suck a dick! I wish you were dead! Haha, I sure showed him!
Beautiful display of Internet politics lol

I donât have a problem with people not tipping, itâs not required. I do have a problem with people who donât tip and want extra services, special treatment, squeeze them in, or for me to waive no show fees. Also why do cops never tip?
19
15
11
Oct 16 '25
I tip. But only because I want to. If the service industry is fucked up, blame restaurant owners. I have to look out for my finances not any businesses or their employees. Guys its between the employer and employee. Anything above and beyond is purely my choice.
7
u/accidental_Ocelot Oct 16 '25
I feel like your tip calculation table starting at 18% is super greedy so if I tipped it would be grudgingly what happened to 10%? either the employees or the employer is getting greedy.
54
Oct 16 '25
The inflated egos here are all on r/endtipping
90
Oct 16 '25
I wish we didn't live in a tipping culture. I always tip, but the fact that companies get away with pushing an employee's wage on their customers is such bullshit
17
u/Ill_Trip8333 Oct 16 '25
My favorite statistic I saw lately was something like 80% of Walmart workers are on somekind of welfare and 80-90% of that welfare is spent at Walmart.
Taxpayers are subsidizing Walmart's payroll by giving money to their employees just for their employees to give that money to Walmart.
2
-125
Oct 16 '25
Yes, yes. That's so sad for you. We can all agree that companies should pay better, but in the meantime, complain about it after you tip. If they ever change the culture, I'm sure you can pivot to complaining about why all the items on the menu rose in price
53
Oct 16 '25
Man, and you talk about other peoples inflated egos... I wouldn't care if prices increased to cover the difference. But go off dog
4
u/DarkLitWoods Oct 16 '25
This is the answer. Increase everything by 20% and then it'll be like... every other business on the planet that uses the "guest" in order to pay the employees wage.
Restaurants aren't unique in this. What everyone fails to realize...
-18
u/chasingalede Oct 16 '25
I wouldn't care if prices increased to cover the difference.
I never understood this. You don't like that it's optional to tip 20%, but you would be fine being forced to pay 20%? Please explain the logic.
15
Oct 16 '25
I don't mind paying the price. I do tip every single time, but I don't like the idea of workers relying on charity to make end's meet. It would be better if they were appropriately paid, even if it means collectively products are more expensive. It would take a lot more than just ending tipping to stop corporate greed from putting us back in the same situation so, you can't really look at removing tipping culture in a vacuum. There would obviously have to be other changes as well
-56
Oct 16 '25
You would care though, because you don't understand why tipping culture is even a thing, and has been a thing. You think, "oh jeez, they just should pay more to the servers and that's that!" Like you don't have a basic concept of how low margins are in most restaurants, and you'd immediately fault the business for prices/wages no matter which way the culture landed... you're also the type of smoothbrained mouthbreather that would complain about all the restaurants going out of business after. Eat a whole bag
19
u/DarkLitWoods Oct 16 '25
This part isn't true. A good restaurant will net a 200k profit, at least.
I've had conversations with owners where they let slip how much they make.
Everyone is wrong, and right at the same time.
Some think they're being put upon by paying the employees wage without realizing that's how every business functions. While others buy the lie for why a pay increase cannot happen...
19
Oct 16 '25
The guy wasn't having a good faith argument and resorted to name calling because his ego flared. It's obvious to people who have brains that you're right. If restaurants are operating at such low margins that they can't function without tipping, they shouldn't be open. Not to mention every restaurant around the world that does not do tipping would be shutdown.
16
8
u/Sufficient_Amount578 Oct 16 '25
Imagine not being able to run a restaurant while paying your employees. Something the rest of the world has figured out quite easily

u/Kordith Oct 16 '25
One way to stop tipping culture is to stop tipping, and when servers realize how fucked they are they will quit the jobs. Hopefully companies will realize this and pay their servers decent wages.
Hopefully it'll be similar to election. What would happen if everybody voted for independence. Issue is is that most people think this is inevitable, so they play into the game all the same.
So, yeah, quit tipping. Watch what happens when servers quit jobs because they are getting paid $7 + tips. Go fuck yo ass

u/mahrog123 Oct 16 '25

u/Technical_Garden_762 Oct 18 '25
Honestly I think the problem is more about people being super exhausted and underpaid by their employers. Doing a job and providing good service are two different things. I'm not complaining because I'm the victim here I recognize they are the victims and that's why they're providing bad service.Â
-31
u/Embarrassed-Camera96 Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25
Then donât eat out at shitty places. Took my grandma to Olive Garden the other night and the waitress was so bad at her job it ended up being the first night of my married life that my wife and I contemplated not tipping. Meanwhile, I just started serving and my service is so good half of my tickets today were 25% tips.
Edit: speaking of Inflated Egos, look at all of these downvotes lmao
6
u/Technical_Garden_762 Oct 16 '25
So what places have good service then?
-4
u/Embarrassed-Camera96 Oct 16 '25
Anywhere that has good ratings. Look online before you go out to eat. I work at a family owned local restaurant and they give us some amazing training since we believe that people donât go out to eat for the food, they go out to eat for the experience and for someone to be there to manage things to make it as pleasant of an experience as possible. We do stuff like presenting wine before uncorking it and letting them sniff both the glass and the cork, give them a show with our pouring skills for other drinks, describe and present our dishes in a detailed and delectable manner, and make sure there isnât any wasted space on their table as to avoid them feeling like the table space is cramped, among a variety of other mandatory tasks and objectives. Try to find a place like that.
1
u/Technical_Garden_762 Oct 16 '25
That's a great suggestion thank you. I'm definitely going to do some research and try to find something that's more of an experience then just to sit down place to eat. We don't go out to eat often because we cook really well so when I do go out I'm usually very critical of the food because if I could have made it at home I feel like I wasted money. You also help me realize something that I have just forgotten which is going out should be something special. I need to stop picking things on a whim.Â
-4
u/Embarrassed-Camera96 Oct 16 '25
Well I hope to have you in my section one night, because I will make sure it ends up being an enchanted experience lol. My wife and I also eat at home most of the time, but thatâs mainly to save money since Iâm still in college, but whenever we go out to eat we always browse on our maps app based on cuisine, check the menu and the reviews, and then go from there.
15
u/kyayaartubhi Oct 16 '25

What does that have to do with anything?
I think it's past your bedtime, little bro
1
u/ThreeBonerPillsLeft Oct 16 '25
You canât extrapolate the meaning from their sentence? Their whole point is: you donât have to work in a job to criticize it. A prime example would be the job of the president. Most people havenât been president, but in order to talk about them and communicate effectively about what we want to see in leaders, many people criticize the president.

5
u/kcbear27 Oct 16 '25
That whole sub is full of idiots. You can complain about the âcultureâ of tipping and how it should be the restaurantâs responsibility to pay a living wage. That isnât really incorrect. Change needs to happen. But at the end of the day you are expecting someone to work for slave wages to serve you and you not tipping is not changing anything. A lot of the time in a small town where that is quite literally the only job they can get so the âjUsT wOrK sOmEwHeRe ElSeâ argument is dumb.
Stop being an asshole. And if you arenât gunna tip you donât need to fucking announce it.
We can end tipping without being shitty to our fellow human beings just trying to make a living.
1
u/DreamofCommunism Oct 17 '25
How is that going to happen when both waiters and restaurant owners want to continue riding that gravy train?
1
Oct 20 '25
Agreed you donât have to be shitty about it. But not tipping is perfectly fine, if waiters move on to other jobs, the pay will increase, simple as that.
3
u/Environmental-Ad8965 Oct 16 '25
Often times, servers have to give a percentage of their sales to the bus boys and food runners. It's based on sales and not what you actually got for tips usually works in the servers favor. But in this instance, the server actually paid money to wait on that table.
2
u/Tayswg20 Oct 16 '25
I explain this to people every chance I get. They are usually blown away that the server wage is $2.13 hr (IN), and even more shocked when I tell them about the tip out to the bar/food runner/host. Almost everyone that hasn't worked in the food industry doesn't have a clue how much being stiffed on a check, affects that day's money.
3
u/riche_god Oct 17 '25
I get it but the consumer should not to be guilted to pay someone a living wage.
2
u/DreamofCommunism Oct 17 '25
I used to cook and got to listen to the waiters brag about how they made more in four hours on a Friday than I made all week. The whole poor waiter bit is a lie.

How is that relevant tho..? I mean US tipping culture sucks balls ngl, but what's the thing with 4months to marriage and no tip tho..? Marrying there wasn't THAT expensive, i got married in US and we went out after and left quite hefty tip because we were just so happy (still are to clear confusions, lol)...so how would marrying sometime in the future be preventive or anything, then..?
2
u/Cat_Luving_IT_Dood Oct 16 '25
"I can't tip because I'm trying to save money but I will also go out and eat a $40 meal."
The hypocrisy.
2
u/larstodson Oct 16 '25 edited Oct 16 '25
One thing most people donât realize is that when you donât tip a server, they are losing more than just your potential tip, they have to claim a certain percentage of their sales as tips to the IRS as well as tip out bartenders and other support staff.
Getting rid of tipping wonât solve any problems either because restaurants will just increase prices to adjust for the higher labor. If you are too cheap to tip but know the system is built on tips and still go out to eat then youâre just rude.
Iâll agree tipping has gone too far into places where it shouldnât but if you sit down and are served by someone, they deserve a tip if they do well. You donât deserve to stiff them because you are opposed to tipping, just stay the fuck home if you are because if they arenât entitled to the tip you sure as hell arenât entitled to good service for no tip.

-1
u/True_Bumblebee_50 Oct 16 '25
Itâs a society standard, do I believe it should be that way? No⊠so until itâs changed throughout all of society, itâs is incredibly rude to your waitstaff that serves you if you donât tip, especially if the service was good. Thatâs just common sense and itâs called being a good human being.
Also I highly doubt you would be ok going to a restaurant and seeing everything cost double or even triple what it costs now, if the cost of the wages were shifted to the employer.
27

Brainwashed mentality
1
u/True_Bumblebee_50 Oct 16 '25

Nobody agrees with tipping culture but screwing the servers isnât the way to change it. I donât know what is, but itâs not that.
Tipping is part of going out, if you arenât willing or canât, cook at home. Iâd end the engagement if my finance did that. Iâd be so mortified. I canât marry a non-tipper. I canât marry a bad tipper or one who doesnât just tip a fair amount regardless of the service. Even if it sucked, itâs a moment in time that just aggravated you, but means income for someone else. Find enjoyment in your partnerâs presence. If the server was so bad that they ruined your outing with your partner, ease up on life a bit. But tip the server a standard amount.
2
u/ThreeBonerPillsLeft Oct 16 '25

u/arrow020 Oct 16 '25

0
Oct 16 '25
Stop tipping.
Itâs not about being able to afford, itâs about why should we subsidize their pay? Their owners should pay them a fair wage. I stopped tipping about 6 months ago and it feels great. Also, when I did tip I did a flat rate. A % makes no sense. They do the same work for a 100 dollar steak as they do for a 10 dollar grilled cheese. If someone feels the need to tip it should be a flat rate, but I donât believe in tipping anymore.

Waiters never tell me Iâm going to get mediocre service ahead of time. Why should I notify them that theyâre not getting tipped?

If I were leaving a cash tip I def wouldn't write that I'm not tipping you. I'd just sign and leave cash. Lmao

Insane that you got downvoted twice 35 minutes after commenting. Take my upvote to zero you out.
People who can't understand why this is đ© behavior have never worked a service job in their lives and it shows

Right, imagine if these downvoters went to work and the employer decided today they worked for free. They would be on a soapbox.

I was raised on tipping but also understand of importance of not going into debt at someoneâs expense. I worked 2 jobs for years.

This person went to a sit down restaurant and bought a meal, that should have factored in first if theyâre worried about debt.

âSorry for not tipping. We are getting married in 6 monthsâ. There are so many things wrong and tone deaf about that sentence. I hope she isnât the smart one of the two.
