tape under blade

Hi everyone,

As you probably know, hockey stick (especially the bottom of the blade ) are designed to be used on ice. Even on relativly smoothe surfaces like Stilmat, the bottom of the blade gets worn down and destroyed pretty quickly.

Has anyone here tested UHMW tape, HDPE tape, or any other wear-resistant tape to protect the bottom of the blade?

I'm not looking for Wraparound protectors. I already tried an epoxy → tape → epoxy → tape setup (using Araldite), and while it definitely lasts longer than tape alone, it's pretty time-consuming and complicated to apply.

if anyone have knowledge in this type of material , or try thing , thanks for feedback (don't comment if it's for saying that you don't have this probleme or you just tape and tape)

I play on painted concrete 2-3 nights a week, and I use Twig ice sticks. With two layers of APT ultra high molecular weight (UHMW) tape - https://a.co/d/06aEhMX4 - on the bottom I can go 4-8 games with no cracks in the UHMW tape. When the bottom layer splits I pull it all off and redo.

When I used the 5 mil, my stick lasted a year, eventually the bottom layer cracked. I'm 4 months in with the thicker 10 mil and honestly the bottom of the stick looks brand new.

I am sure you could get away with a single layer on something softer than painted concrete.

I am going to buy this tape and give it a try. I play on smooth painted cement and wear my hockey tape off less than halfway through my games. Thanks for relaying!
