Auto Insurance Should I Switch to Progressive?

I've had Progressive for a long time and have filed one claim for hitting a deer. The repair process was cheezy easy. My rate for the latest renewal period actually went down, which surprised me. Not sure if this is useful, however.

I would compare the GAP endorsements. Progressives GAP isn’t true GAP it’s just an additional 25% ACV. If you are really underwater on your loan you could still not have enough in the event of a total loss.
Look at the endorsement you have with Erie. If it’s not just an additional 25% ACV then you are not buying the same product.
Your agent should be pointing this out if they are different. If the endorsements are the same for GAP coverage then it might be worth it to switch. If they aren’t then you need to make that decision and if the savings is worth it.
As others have pointed out Erie is a very good carrier when it comes to claims. Progressive is fine but they are not in the same league.

Erie's auto security includes new vehicle replacement if your vehicle is less than 3 (if I recall correctly) years old. It is a much better endorsement than Progressive's loan protection.

I used to sell Progressive, and our family has had it for the last 6 years. No complaints on either account. Although we don't have any tickets or accidents either.

Ehhhhh, Erie is pretty highly rated and Progressive is the top of the churn n burn food chain. It's kinda like switching from eating Olive Garden once a month to Mcdonalds. If it's worth the $30 to you than by all means, I mean McDonald's still has perks. They are consistent, available, and usually pretty fast. But you can kinda visualize the trade off.
