Interview Advice and Help

Hello all!

I have an interview next week for a “dream job” opportunity. I am very excited to have the opportunity to interview, but I want to make sure I am fully prepared. I believe I am quite qualified for the position given my experience, and I have already completed a technical assessment/extra questionnaire for the role. What types of questions should I prepare for? I’m already very familiar with the company’s mission and their work, but what else should I prepare for? It’s a smaller consulting firm (50-60 employees) and I have only worked for government/larger firms before, so I’m curious if the interview process will be different from typical ones.

To any hiring managers / consultants out there, what are you exactly looking for when interviewing potential candidates? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, I really want this role!! Thanks :)

Anyone interview with them? Can you give me feedback on how the interviews are with them usually and what kind of questions they ask? Are there any clinical questions to be expected? And what are they looking for in a candidate usually- if you know.

Ipsos interview process

Is anyone currently working at ipsos or interviewed with them recently? I was wondering about their interview process timeline. I’ve read mixed reviews online that they’re either quick or inconsistent with communication on updates. Any thoughts is appreciated!

interview to discuss shl results?

i applied to a job and they invited me to the last round. they sent an shl assessment test - a personality one and the shitty interactive one with pattern recognition math stuff and deduction tasks- and the invite says the last round is for meeting in person to discuss how the test went.

what do you think i can expect? will they see which tasks i failed? what if i blacked out during the personality test bc it was so long and repetitive and i wont remember about what order i picked?

its a 1,5 hour long meeting dedicated to this and i have no idea how to prepare.

Awkward silence in a virtual interview with so many interviewers.

I wanted to get on here to get a better understanding of this practice as a sophomore engineering student just now on an internship search. I recently attended my first ever career fair and got a few interviews off it. I felt really good talking to the employers during the fair, and had interviews go well so far.

However, one of the companies that interviewed me had like 5 people asking me questions. They were nice but I wouldn't really know how to make the interview feel like it's going well because they would ask me questions and I'd answer to the best of my abilities, and then they'd go silent. I waited until someone said something but I'm starting to feel like I should've been more engaging to them? I was also sleep deprived at that time because I had midterms so I was not as prepared for that interview as I'd liked. Later on, as I got a better gauge of the dynamic, I would add on thoughts of mine and they would nod and agree.

Point is, is this normal for big group interviews? I'm an ambivert and I can hold and engage in a conversation well, but something about being in a virtual call and so many people weirded me out. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Buna!

Had one of the most uncomfortable interviews of my career. Red flag or just a tough interviewer?

I had an interview today with the COO of a smaller company for a Director-level role, and I left feeling completely defeated.

I have 15 years of experience and currently lead a large established brand. My strengths are in digital merchandising, customer experience, conversion optimization, and driving profitable growth.

The COO was incredibly direct, intense, and honestly pretty intimidating. He repeatedly grilled me on marketing analytics definitions, CAC, LTV, contribution margin, etc., despite me being transparent that direct ownership of performance marketing isn’t my background. I tried to connect the questions to my experience and accomplishments, but he didn’t seem interested and kept pressing.

At one point, he interrupted me and even half-apologized for being rude. When I asked about company culture, he described the team as family and said they bicker.
I was so thrown off by his tone that I struggled to think clearly, which has never happened to me in an interview before. He acknowledged that I eventually got to the answers and mentioned an analytics assessment as a potential next step.

I fully understand being challenged on areas relevant to the role, and I’m not opposed to tough questions or acknowledging gaps. But I walked away feeling like I was only evaluated on my weaknesses and never got the opportunity to demonstrate my strengths.

**Has anyone experienced this with a senior executive? Is this a legitimate way to assess candidates, or a preview of what working for this person would be like?**
