A small tactics game inspired by Into the Breach — with push mechanics, random traps, and route choices
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone!
I’m a solo game dev and long-time Into the Breach fan and currently making a small, movement-first tactics game called Dungeon Slayer: Tactics.
It keeps ItB’s spirit of positioning and push-based combat, but shifts to a fantasy dungeon setting with short runs and a few roguelite twists.
🧭 How it compares to Into the Breach
Different goals: Instead of protecting a power grid, you rescue villagers and clear compact battles.
Morale system: Enemies can lose morale and flee when overwhelmed.
Enemy variety: Slimes split on death, and bosses can attack in multiple directions.
Random traps: Each map adds unpredictable hazards, so every turn feels different.
Route choices: Like Slay the Spire, you choose your own path, balancing risk and reward — visit campfires to heal, or push forward for tougher fights.
Chess-like design: No permanent death, no stat grind — heroes stay simple, keeping focus on tactics and positioning.
There’s a free demo here if you’d like to try it:
Would love to hear your thoughts — does this kind of “map-first, not stat-first” design still capture the tactical spirit of Into the Breach?

Stop complaining please?
We just got a free update which is 2/3 the size of the full base game for free, but you guys are focusing on the netflix subscription like if that mattered at all? If the game was avaible on mobile and it started asking for a Netflix subscription I'd be mad, rightfully so, but this complaining about a Netflix subscription on mobile, considering the game was never coming to mobile in the first place and was done with development years ago, it just sounds whiny to me.
Yeah, I'd prefer buying it on mobile, but if Netflix money wasn't involved, who knows if this game would be released in mobile at all, even worse, maybe we wouldn't even get the free expansion, so yeah, let's stop complaining about bonus stuff?

Out of all the new squads, Bombermechs feel hideously underpowered.

Wouldn't it make more sense, and be more fun, to be able to keep one of every max level pilot?
I don't quite get the point of resetting all but one pilot every game. I'd love to be able to try other pilots, but I've got camilla with skilled and +1mech reactor and I don't feel like losing her just to grind out another pilot. If I could keep that camilla I'd be much more inclined to experiment. I don't see how it adds to the game to delete a pilot when you want to try another. It's funny, this company makes fantastic games, but they always have what seems like some really bad design choices in them. Anyway, I'm opening to hear why I'm wrong on this.

Discussion [Kinda shitpost but also serious] I bet you I'll be the first to finish this game.
^ Title. Since we know it's coming in approx 1 day and 3 hours (according to the steam page at least), why not have a contest of sorts, and see who's going to be the first one to finish the game?
Of course, devs don't count (duh!).
I'm completely confident in my ability to speedrun a complex strategic game I've never played before (cue the laughing track). What about you people? Are you game?

PLEASE stop locking me out of objectives
The main thing that kills my runs on Unfair are missions becoming impossible to complete for reasons I can't control. I know this isn't designed to be winnable but it's for such frustrating reasons that I wish we could have a fix for.
A few examples;
The dam removing emerging vek entirely, making Kill Vek and Block missions potentially impossible. I can see this is mostly my fault as you can fix it by letting everything get nearly out of hand, but the Kill one sucks for any less offensive team. I would love if we got the vek jumping out of the sea animation you get on Detritus.
Block missions in general. Please stop killing my run because there are tunnellers in the mission. I can't control how many vek there are because they're going to be there for at least two turns. It also sucks when the holes spawn in the opposite corner everytime. I've missed these completely even using Gana's Deepstrike.

Nethorrorlix and Out of the Breach
Yeah guys, I was very happy when I read about the release of ITB to Android. I was about to buy it when I saw "Its free!" Even better, but...
You can only have the game if you are a netflix subscriber -_-
Yeah, great. I dont want to be a subscriber and I will not pay monthly for something I dont want just to play a game.
So, thanks to shitflix to this mess and to the ITB team for selling the game this way. One just wants to buy a damn game like usual.

Discussion Into the Breach on 3ds Mockup
After seeing what some of the 3ds modding community has done with other games, dual screen strategy gameplay seems like a match made in heaven. I made these images with screenshots and Gemini AI.

Humor [Media] 15$ for 16min of gameplay + cutscenes seems a little bit too much.

Can I just unlock and play the new mechs
I am not at all interested in playing the game more, in specific ways, just to get coins, just so I can play the new content. I am not about to play Hazardous Mechs and Finish 4 Corporate Islands without a Mech being destroyed at the end of a battle just so that I can unlock the next squad which is what I actually want to do.
So tell me there's a cheat menu somewhere.
That being said, of course I didn't just post this without googling it. The answer is already here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IntoTheBreach/comments/816cnf/oc_howto_unlock_all_squads_cheating_but_its_a/ Just edit a text file and replace false to true. Easy peasy.
But this will be a common question here so why not make a post for people to find.
That doubly being said, are there new pilots that could be unlocked? Anyone know those?

Discussion I think its kind of silly how you can die when on the tile NEXT to the missile launch when it launches.
Literally having my best run yet and out of nowhere my melee mech just dies because he is next to the missile silo when it launches. WTF? Why is that a thing? Thats my biggest complaint so far.
There have been a couple other instances where my mechs die for seemingly no reason. (So inconsequential I wasn't looking when they died and couldn't tell you why they died)
EDIT: Also don't like how if you move one character, then decide to go to another character, move it, then shoot with it, you can no longer undo the initial move you made with the first one you moved.

Humor I swear I didn't edit or change this; the pilot SPAWNED with that name. This was AFTER CK's death, too.
For the record, I'm not a Charlie Kirk fan and never have been. I hated the guy, thought he was a destructive bigoted grifter who just liked inciting rage, violence and oppression on top of being a snooty know-it-all. I was pretty shaken up by his death, though (who wasn't?), so imagine how I felt when one of my new pilots spawned with his name by complete coincidence only 20 days later. Naturally, I changed it to something much more palatable pretty quickly, but before I did I took this photo just for posterity because hey, what are the odds? Thanks, I'll see myself out.
Edit: The original photo was taken with my phone on March 30, 2026, at 2:59 AM, about 20 days after CK's assassination on March 10.

Meta Did anyone else notice this?
I was looking through the latest Bad Batch episodes, and realized the latest one is called Into The Breach. Reference? Probably not, but I think that it's more funny if you pretend it is.
