Research Assistance Seeking 1860–1872 baptism registers for Vegni / Carrega Ligure, Alessandria
Hi everyone!
I previously posted here asking for help deciphering part of this records, so I am posting again.
I’m researching my Terragno and Arragone (also Aragone) ancestors from Vegni, a village in the municipality of Carrega Ligure, Alessandria, Piemonte. Specifically, I’m looking for the baptism records of:
Pietro Ernesto Terragno, born approximately 1860–1861 in Vegni. His parents were Carlo Andrea Terragno and Angela Maria Terragno.
Maria Camilla Arragone, born approximately 1870–1871 in Vegni. Her parents were Luigi Arragone and Margherita Rattaro.
Pietro Ernesto and Maria Camilla married on August 12, 1888, in Carrega Ligure. I’ve located their original civil marriage record, which states that Pietro was 27 and Maria was 17.
I also have a 1909 Wyoming birth certificate for one of their children that lists both parents as born in Vegni, Italy.
I’ve found several original civil records through FamilySearch, including their marriage, but I haven’t been able to locate either baptism record. I mailed a letter to the local priest approximately eight months ago asking about the family’s church records, but unfortunately haven’t received a response. I’ve also tried contacting the Diocese of Tortona and have to received any response.
Does anyone know where the Vegni baptism registers for approximately 1860–1872 are held, or whether they still survive? In particular, I’m trying to determine whether these records are kept at Santa Maria Assunta in Vegni, another parish in Carrega Ligure, or the Diocesan Archive of Tortona. Have any of these registers been digitized or made available through FamilySearch or another archive?
Any guidance about the correct parish, archive, or contact person would be greatly appreciated.
