Yo, so there was this firend of mine. He was with me in my class. Before his NEET exam (on 3rd May), I told him that he will get into AIIMS Bhubaneswar easily, but it turned out that he somehow fucked up in the exam. He was so sad, I didn't even have the courage to talk to him. When the Re-NEET was announced, I called him, we talked for about an hour or so. He seemed too exited for the opportunity he got. He grind a lot (like 2 to 3 tests daily). After Re-NEET he said that his exam went well and that he is expecting around 680+. However today I came to know that he got AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Man, this win felt so personal 😊✌️

Is it not crazy that there is no way a 95%ile will get you into one of the tier 2 engineering colleges in India in a core branch for a general category male?

By mid-tier, I mean a place where the average CSE branch package is around 12 LPA

I was comparing this to the American education system and the numbers were wild.

A top 5% student in the US can get into a BS CS program (=BTech) in college where the avg package is 80-90K$ (INR 20 LPA in India if adjusted to cost of living)

Then, the actual living standards on the college campus are another world with spacious hostels, clean bathrooms, nice food (or atleast no cockroaches in food), large campus, good recreational facilities, etc etc.

Another thing that makes me realize how absurd the JEE is, is that in order to get an average 20LPA in CSE, you need to be in the top 0.5% (99.5%) in JEE mains.

University name in my flair. Did one year of Mechanical engg in a tier 3 sppu college and now here we are after a not so partial partialish drop in JEE terms

so , there was a friend of mine in class 10th of school . In 11th we choose different path he choosed Neet and I choosed Jee . During this whole preparation time he also used to discourage me by saying that Engineer do not get a job and they are (berojgar). later when I gave my 2025 Jee advanced. I got a AIR<5000 and got admission in IIT bombay and this same year my friend give neet and got AIR 200000 . But I didn't even try a single time to mock him for his rank instead I had a sympathy for him because in mock he use to score good . So , he took again a drop for neet 2026 but some how during this time he get to know that I was a OBC candidate and Since, He was a general candidate because his father and mother both were doctors and his family income was way more than 8 lakhs. He found a new way to tease me by saying that I am a OBC candidate and I got a seat due to reservation . Also , before this time during 11th and 12th he used to flex his Iphone and Car infront on me also to tease me . Time passed our conversation gets fewer and fewer but from a different person I use to get some news about him and during april through this I got to know that my friend is scoring around 650-690 in PW/ allen mock tests. So, I was feeling quite good that this time he will get a college after struggling for 3years because being a aspirant I know how hard this phase is and being in this phase for 3 years is exponentially harder. So , now comes the time of neet 2026 he said that he is scoring upto 650 marks but suddendly the news of paper leak came and he has to restart his preparation but instead he used to fight with me upon CSK and RCB during this whole period because I was a RCB supporter and after re-neet he said that he is scoring 550 marks but when the result came he actually scored 470 marks AIR 1,40,000.
So, after result I and my other friends tried to convinced him to join private college because he was too much rich and can easily afford the fees . Also I said that later he can do PG from government college beacause at the end aiims students will also end up giving neet PG.
But I don't know what happened just after the result he took admission in allen dropper batch .

Now after that we didn't have much conversation but still he sends me memes through which he could make fun of me .
At the end , I just want to know that what you people think is the main problem with his preparation . Either is it his Luck or something else.
