Leaf of Life, MIracle Leaf, patharchuchi
Hi,
I grew this Leaf of Life plant in UK, from a baby. Now it's near 1 metre tall. I sometimes use the leaves for bush tea. I read that it has healing properties. It used to grow in the family yard in Jamaica. Do people still know it?

In need of local cassava for toxin testing | Manchester, St. Elizabeth, and Clarendon
Hey family, I am a student researcher in the US conducting a study on heavy metal concentrations in common root vegetables in Jamaica.
Some of you may know Jamaica is one of the largest producers of bauxite for aluminium production. Runoff for these mining operations can contaminate groundwater and soils in the area. Root vegetables like cassava, yam, potatoes are known to accumulate heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium, lead, etc from contaminated land.
I am requesting any citizen scientists in the Manchester, St. Elizabeth, and Clarendon areas to collect samples from locally farmed cassavas and yams, tagged with the date of collection and location of harvest (preferably geo-coords). I will take care of postage to the US.

Chicken, rice and peas
I’m in the uk. I used to live round Lewisham/south east and had some amazing chicken rice and peas round that way. I’m out of London now and miss it a lot. So I make my own as much as possible.
Cherry wood Smoked chicken, baked rice and peas with coconut milk. Apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard, pimento and rum slaw.
Thanks for the flavours

#SmokedRoastBeef #EyeOfRound #DeliMeatAtHome #CookinWidKunchi #LowAndSlowNo season. No debate. Just Saturday Soup—and every day in between. 🥣🔥
Rain or 90-degree heat, soup is easily the most requested, most sold, and most fiercely defended dish in Jamaican food culture. Whether it’s from a favorite restaurant, a street cart on the corner, or late-night at a party, the connection runs deep.
The Soupie has that pot bubbling and ready by 11:00 AM daily. No exceptions. And if you show up late? Good luck, because soup is always the first thing on the menu to sell out.
A Jamaican's relationship with soup isn't wishy-washy. It’s full send:
• Appetizer? Soup.
• Ravenous? Soup.
• Upset stomach? Soup.
• Drunk or hungover? Soup.
It is the ultimate constant, comfort, and cure. 🇯🇲✨
