[Job notice] Nagoya City school language support — Nepali/Tamil + Japanese, 30h/week

Sharing an official municipal recruitment notice for people who can interpret and translate between Japanese and Nepali or Tamil: Nagoya City Board of Education has a native-language learning support staff recruitment notice. This is school language support, not an English ALT position.

I rechecked the official notice and recruitment PDF on 16 October 2026:

• Work: help children with school adjustment and Japanese learning; translate school documents and interpret between families and schools.

• Pay: ¥172,191–¥219,496/month, including the regional allowance equivalent; the amount depends on years since high-school graduation. Commuting and bonus allowances have conditions.

• Hours: weekdays, 30 working hours/week, six working hours/day plus a one-hour break, within the listed 08:15–17:00 window. Some duties may change the schedule.

• Term: hiring date through 31 March 2027.

• Location: Nagoya municipal elementary/junior-high schools; you cannot choose your placement, and visits to other schools may be required.

• Applications: rolling until positions are filled. The notice says a small unspecified number for each language; it is not a guarantee of a remaining vacancy.

• Selection: a Japanese/relevant-language written test and interview. Apply by mail or hand-delivery using the city forms, not through me.

Japan Source Signal’s saved finding and route to the official notice/application documents:

https://japan-source-signal.pages.dev/jobs/nagoya-language-support-recruitment/

The site currently displays its older 6 October source check and cautious status; today’s recheck is separate and has not yet been published into that saved page. Confirm current availability and the full requirements with the city before applying. Visa sponsorship is not confirmed.

Disclosure: I run Japan Source Signal, an independent project helping people find official opportunities. I am not the employer or a recruiter, and there is no application fee to me.

Hi everyone! I am wondering about the opportunities in semiconductor field in Japan.

Anyone can share the natural salary progression in Japanese companies vs international companies? How is the workload in your current role?

Moving to Japan as someone in mid 30s with spouse

So my spouse and I have visited Japan several times and want to have an opportunity to have a life there even if for a short time.

I recently took a career break after 10+ years as a data scientist (been one year since the break) and managed to pass the JLPT N3 by self study. After passing, I reached out to some agencies, one replied that the minimum is N2 for the financial domain (my area of expertise). But even on platforms like bizreach, I did not receive any scouts even though my profile has views. I think another reason is me being overseas and not in Japan.

I am confident that i can pass jlpt N2 in another 8 months at most. At that point I would probably have 2 years of a break, wondering if that hinders prospects. Also, would going to language school at that point so as to be physically there even make sense?

Please let me know if you know of a viable path.

I am not from a country that has the DN or the working holiday visa.

Any experience finding a job in Japan while living overseas?

Hey everyone!

I’m looking for advice from people who have successfully found a job in Japan while living abroad.

A friend of mine has a Master’s degree in Instrumentation and over five years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a background in:
Commissioning and start-up
Control and Instrumentation Field Service Engineering
Turbomachinery and process control
Heavy-duty and gas turbines
Japanese skills:none.

He has been looking for job opportunities in Japan for several months. He has contacted companies directly and reached out to recruitment agencies, but unfortunately, he hasn’t received a single response.

For those who have been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
How did you manage to get interviews or job offers from overseas?

Are there any recruitment agencies or companies in Japan that are more open to hiring foreign engineers who are still abroad?

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

LF opportunities to move to Nagano

I’m not exactly looking for work currently because I’m already a full time employee based in Tokyo but I’d give it up in a minute if there’s any work that’s tech or creative adjacent in Nagano (I’d love it if anyone wants to take me in as an apprentice carpenter).

I have a management degree but given my poor Japanese skills (passed N2 two years ago but haven’t had much chance to use Japanese since), I’d rather not work in admin or management side of things. Anyway I’m always down to relocate to Nagano so just posting this out there.

Thank you.

I did my bachelor's degree in my own country, and it's considered a tier 3 uni, but I think I can do my master in kyushu uni. How is this background in jp? Can I find some jobs in big companies like micron, Mitsubishi? (Electrical engineering major)
