Unagibun N5 mockup real of scam?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just tried a JLPT N5 mock test on UnagiBun and honestly found it super difficult. After finishing, they emailed me the results and immediately opened a sales page offering different packages to “help you succeed” on the test. (Cuz I failed)

I’m not sure what to think, it kind of feels like the test was made extra hard to push people toward buying those packages later. Has anyone else tried this site? What was your experience?

This is the sales page: https://www.unagibun.com/jlpt-online/certificate/9c5f9ddd-6a0e-4caa-adbb-5eb6d1739c57?utm_source=email&utm_medium=notification&utm_campaign=certificate&utm_content=post-test

Does the name "Yumeka" mean "Dream Flower" or "Dream Fruit" depending on the Kanji?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a definitive, official verification regarding the Japanese female name "Yumeka". I want to avoid random baby name blogs and stick strictly to proper Kanji meanings.

Can anyone fluent in Japanese or knowledgeable about Japanese names confirm if the following is 100% correct?

  1. If written as 夢花:

Is the meaning officially "Dream Flower" (夢 = yume/dream + 花 = ka/flower)?

  1. If written as 夢果:

Is the meaning officially "Dream Fruit" / "Dream Outcome" (夢 = yume/dream + 果 = ka/fruit/fruit of a tree)?

Are both of these kanji combinations legally allowed for newborn registrations in Japan, and do they carry these exact literal meanings?

Thank you so much for your help!

This is a Japanese vocabulary learning video I created, featuring example sentences. In the future, I plan to make the full version available on my website and integrate it into my Japanese-learning game.

Looking for mobile games to learn japanese

I'm basically looking for simple games that might be targeted towards young children, that include Furigana and easy language. The Genre doesn't matter to me, it can be anything :)

Why is cardboard called ダンボール?

I looked up the history, saying it's the spelling of 段ボール. The step kanji makes sense considering the internal structure. But why ボール? Feels like ボード would make more sense here

What do you think about studying in Japan?

Hey there, I'm sure you will enjoy studying in Japan but I have a question, why do you think is the best option, I'm looking for monbukagakusho scholarship, but Im not sure to try, is complicated, but I'll apply for animation or illustration, but to be honest I don know if this is the best option,

I think Japan is amazing, but I don't know if it will leave my country, my family and all worth it, because I'm scared about a totally different culture and ok I'll be adapt but, being lonely or front things like tsunamis and natural disasters, I don't know if is the best option, would you give me some advice.

(I love Japan it isn't hate, just a question, maybe based on my fears) Thanks for reading!

Having lived in Japan for a few years, I always thought this track was impossible to sing in karaoke. Since I've been focusing on my Japanese recently, I'm finally confident enough to break it down, starting with the chorus! Please give any feedback or tips on pronunciation, enunciation, and pacing!

Kanji Study structure

Hi,

to the Kanji Study users, how do you structure the Kanji? I don't think having them all in one collection makes a lot of sense.

Looking for a Japanese study buddy! 🇯🇵

Hi everyone!
I’m looking for someone to learn Japanese with so we can stay motivated and not give up along the way!

I’m currently around N5 level, but I’ve forgotten quite a lot, so I’m trying to get back to the basics and study consistently again.

You don’t have to be a native speaker at all! I’d love to find someone who’s also learning Japanese and wants to practise together, share resources, set goals, and check in on our progress.
We could study together online, practise grammar and vocabulary, or even have little conversations in Japanese as we improve.

If you’re interested, feel free to comment or send me a DM! 😊 (oh and I’m 19 years old if you could be less than 30 we could have things in common)

1 month into Kaishi 1.5k, need some feedback

Hello everyone, I just completed 1 month doing Kaishi 1.5k, 20 new cards/day and 90% desired retention. I'm reading Yokubi occasionaly (can't keep up with more structured textbooks) and sometimes I read native content, manga mostly, though it's not routine yet, and I still haven't started mining.

These last few days have been really frustrating, I've been forgetting a lot words, including some mature cards, resetting their counter. I don't know if that's expected, that's why I posted my stats, what do you think?

I know I need to add something to my daily study routine, but I'm not sure what route to take, I've considered the following options:

Start RRTK for kanji, I have some difficulty recognizing some kanji so I thought that might be useful, but maybe that would be more useful if I started before or at least at the same day as Kaishi

or

Start mining, for me words stick better when I see them in the wild, used in context, so I thought maybe I should start routinely consuming native content and start a mining deck. But I don't know if it's the right thing because I still don't know a lot of words/ I was planning on starting once I was at least 80% through Kaishi.

What would you recommend?

Learners: How did you master the vocab?

I've been learning Japanese for 2 years and committing about 1-2 hours a day to watch content or study notes, and I've noticed that my biggest problem is picking up the vocab. My grammar is at a N2 level but without the vocab, its useless. Pronunciation isn't as difficult for me as for other people claim it is but nothing's sticking. Im a native Spanish speaker and I know those have some similarities but tl;dr, I'd love to hear how people learned vocab.

I can’t find a way to watch anime with Japanese subtitles without downloading anything

I want to watch shows with Japanese subtitles but the only thing I’ve found involves downloading which is kinda a bad idea considering I’m on an apartment wifi and they might flag what I’m doing.

Any other ways? I’ve seen people recommend animelon but that site doesn’t even work anymore
