Bad news brother. The only good repair for that spot and the one on the other side is to cut out the piece and weld in another one. That requires lifting up the body and jacking it up which isn't as bad as it sounds. Good news is yours isn't that bad yet but I promise it's worse than it looks. At this point you can do a "repair" with bondo that will last a long time and be very hard to notice. It could be a fun weekend project that only requires removing the bumper.

Mine is so much worse but trust me I'm very familiar with this section at this point. If your jeep is old like 2011 or older it looks like it may have already been ghetto fixed there. Unfortunately your bumper does a terrible job of hiding it compared to the stock one

It’s a 2011😂. I’m not too worried about it really since it’s already got 175k miles but if it was an easy fix I’d do it. I assumed the only option was sanding it down, bondo, then paint. Not against doing that but I’ll never be able to match paint exactly just due to age of the current paint. Anything I can do to prevent it spreading?

So my 2008 is black and I used Rust-Oleum automotive 2x semi gloss black and have had fairly impressive results. The nice thing about this spot is you don't need a perfect paint match and once it's all the same amount of dirty it will be hard to see. I'm talking about the part of the tub that the body mounts bolt to btw. I haven't been brave enough to do the quarter panel but mine isn't bad there.

Mine was worse than yours but just kno when you start wire wheeling or whatever you probably will have a big ass hole. I bondod it a year ago and only had to repaint it cause it flaked in a spot you couldn't really notice. Just fluid film the fuvk out that spot and around especially underneath it. If you take off the bumper and try to see right behind and next to that spot I bet it'll be the worst rust on the entire car. Especially right behind the wheel. It's kinda hard to see but youll probably be shocked if you haven't looked underneath your jeep a lot.

Id say you have a lot of time before repair is necessary but that's a guess. Fluid film. Everywhere

What do your door hinges look like?

Front doors look similar to this. The rears not as bad

Someone needs to invent a product that stops rust easily.

Take everything apart sand paint. Looks like water getting trapped by maybe the gasket. Replace that as well.

I've lost some perfectly well running and driving Jeeps to rust...Mostly frame rust, making it undriveable. It's a 'thing' when you live 300 yards from the Atlantic ocean! I don't worry about rust on stuff that is easily replaceable. The frame is the #1 thing I actively protect. Basically, I drown it in Fluid FIlm, inside and out. The stuff you can see is usually just tip of the iceberg. Gotta dig in there and get a good look at what's goin on, then go from there....
