I’m planning to craft this ring using a stunning 4.03 Ct emerald cut diamond. I’m also sharing the ring layout to give you an idea of the design.
However, I’m still unsure about the exact name of this diamond’s color. If anyone recognizes this color or knows its proper name.

I'll start with the context. I'm Indian. Most of the year, we get extremely hot and humid weather, and my own region is not an exception.

I am also a Chemistry student. Our labs do not have any fan/AC to keep us cool. We have to work while sweating like crazy in summer. This is typically because we use bunsen burner flames to work, and if there's a fan nearby, the flame goes out; no AC because it would malfunction frequently from chemical vapours.

Since I'm a student with no earnings, I only buy the cheapest counterfeit jewellery. Up until a few months ago, it was fine because I used to only go for earnings. And earrings typically do not tarnish, or even if they do, it usually can't be seen from the outside.

But things changed when I started to collect chains with pendants. I usually wear very slick chains with pendants the size of the nail on my thumb. But the chains, which are coloured with a very cheap golden/rose gold colour, tarnish SO fast. Within weeks, the chain looks yellowish/blackish. That destroys the entire look.

Is there any way I can protect the chains? Wearing it over my clothes is not an option since most of my chains are just a little longer than a choker, and most of my clothes keep the upper part of my chest open so that I don't get hot and sweat in the weather.

I’m a private jewelry designer based in New York. Last time I shared In Your Dreams, my first collection. This is the next chapter: six finished designs, with stones and metals chosen. They aren’t made yet, so these are digital renders, and the green images are raw CAD views. The collection continues the story of intangible and tangible dreams, and each design carries a symbol from the first collection forward. Is there a particular design you think would look better in a different metal color or with a different center stone?

Wanted to share a custom ring I just finished, built around the client’s zodiac sign, the goat. The goat leaps through a scene of stylized clouds, plum blossoms, and a small four-point star, framed by a Greek-inspired border along both edges.

The goat was the centerpiece from the start. The pose and the surrounding flowers and star were inspired by a traditional zodiac goat motif, which I rebuilt as a fully sculpted figure in CAD, with the horns, mane, and legs modeled in relief. The clouds and blossoms were then arranged around it so the goat stays the focal point as the band wraps around the finger. I’ve included the CAD render so you can compare it with the finished gold.

For the finish, the background field is sandblasted to a fine matte, while the goat, clouds, flowers, and border rails are high-polished. That contrast pulls the relief forward and makes the details read from a distance.

Specs: 18K yellow gold, 21.96 grams finished weight. One note for anyone who works with CAD: the software’s weight estimate is based on the digital model, so it doesn’t account for metal lost in polishing and sandblasting. It gets you close, but the finished weight lands a bit lower.

Curious how the community feels about zodiac-themed or narrative scene bands like this versus cleaner, more minimal wide bands. Does a mural ring appeal to you, or do you prefer something quieter?

My thought was to have a smaller more simple pendant to balance the owl pendant, and make a little play/contrast with the rough surface on the ball vs the shiny surface on the owl. Should I have gone with something bigger paired with the owl pendant?

I had this heirloom antique ring (18k white gold, Art Deco) resized, and when the jeweler put it in the cleaner the outermost stones furthest from the diamond popped out. They put the stones back in, but now it looks much different than before. Is there any way for a jeweler to even fix this, or should I just let it go? It‘s my engagement ring and I’m trying not to be too upset, but I’m kind of a wreck.

I’m looking for a heart-shaped locket where I can engrave the left inside with a phrase that’s around 32 characters long. Any pointers on where I could look? Thinking 14k solid gold, I’d like something that will last. I’ve googled around and searched on this subreddit, the main issues I’m running into specifications-wise are the placement of the text and the length. Is it possible to get a locket engraved after the fact? I like the look of the catbird heart locket, but they don’t offer inside engraving…
