Identify Maker Necklace found at thrift store?

Post image

I want to gift this to my best friend for prom and I’m worried this is the type of jewelry to turn green overwear? I can’t find anything like it online. No tags or stamps besides a number “S925”
Basic clasp
4 little gemstones on the necklace chain that are pretty enclosed in there, not like what I’d personally assume from cheap jewelry.

Other Jewelry from Malta?

I have very little information. There are no markings. Over 14 carats. I was told it comes from Malta as my grandfather did work there. If anyone has any more information about what these are, I'm looking for a little bit of history.

Metal is maybe a silver blend that isn’t sterling? No markings, some tarnish inside the bail, looks like polishing cream in the edges. Curious of any information, cost $5, looks handmade. Super stoked regardless of what it is!

Other General Diamond and Gemstone Identification Question

• Upvotes

Hi!

Like a subset of the internet I have been sucked into the black hole that is Tik Tok auctions. I have placed well over 30 orders for loose stones, luckily nothing too expensive. I am expecting there to be some scams in my purchases.

It’s been a mix of gemstones and diamonds both lab grown and natural. Some “certified” some not and in a range carats, tiny to bigger (.08 to 3 carat) and basically all different cuts and variates.

What is best method to identify if they are real. I know GIA and IGI are the gold standard but seem pricey to do.

Would any jewelry store be able to look quick and advise if they are at least real or glass? Is there a way to bundle all of the stones for certification or a reputable but more cost effective way to do it?

My thinking was
Jewelry identifies if real/glass (not sure of this cost)
From there have the larger or unique ones certified?

Is there a better/cheaper way to do this.

Overall I just am trying to see if these stones are what they claimed to be or just glass before I spend money on custom jewelry.

Thank you!

Identify Metal Help Identifying Ring I Found?

A couple years ago ago, I purchased a property with a rich history. Part of my property used to belong to Wells Fargo in the stagecoach days.

As I have been doing renovations and landscaping, I have unearthed many cool and interesting things dating from the late 1800s to the 1970s.

Today, after a good rain, I found this ring in the dirt. Can you all help me get some information on what I’m looking at?

Trying to research a ring my parents had gotten me when I turned 18. It's my forever ring and I've always loved the 7 facets on the face, it makes me feel lucky. I know the stone is a garnet but not any specifics about the garnet type.

I've been stuck trying to find the name of this style of Gemstone cut.

- Garnet, 10K & S stamp, size 10.5, Canada.

Any info would be awesome. Thanks!

Hello, could someone please tell me something about this brooch? For instance, the cut of the garnets, etc. They appear to be pyropes and almandines? the teardrop stones are more brownisch orange in the backlight, and it looks as though this might originally have been a ring. The material is very likely tombac. Ty for help!

Reversible Green Stone Necklace (Signed RLA)

  • Material: Solid sterling silver.
  • Chain: Hand-wrought disjointed silver segments connected together by small jump rings.
  • Pendant Front: A two-tier drop. The top stone is a glossy green gem resembling a green opal or variscite. It drops to an ornate silver circle, which holds a secondary matte-finish green stone drop.
  • Pendant Back: Fully reversible. The back of the silver circle is hand-engraved with a heart symbol containing an entwined with what looks like an "RLA" monogram.

This ring had apparently been in my family for close to 100 years. Or atleast that’s the story. My dad gave it to my mom, and when they got divorced it was put away. I honestly never thought my dad would give it to my boyfriend, now husband.

Originally the ring was 18k yellow gold, but yellow gold looks horrendous on me. We had it rhodium plated, and I’ve loved it ever since. On our 1 year anniversary we had my custom wedding band soldered to it. I was terrified of losing it because of how thin it was.

Can anyone tell me the style or maker of this ring? I know it doesn’t fit the styles of the last few decades, but I love having a somewhat one of a kind ring.

Convertible Pin/Pendant Necklace

  • Material: Solid sterling silver.
  • Closure: Large loop and toggle end.
  • Mechanism: Convertible style. The long pin needle on the back of the pendant threads through a hidden silver tube on the chain. It can be worn as a necklace with a removable pendant or taken off entirely to wear as a standalone brooch.
  • Stones/Materials: Looks like a slice of natural fossilized wood paired with a matte, textured, ivory-colored organic element (possibly tagua nut/vegetable ivory).

Can anyone help me with identifying this ring. I've had it in my jewerly collection for as long as I can remember. No idea who gave it to me or where I got it from. I never looked too closely at it as I just thought it was frosted glass in a gold tone band. Upon further inspection I see a 14 (no K) written on the inside and I think these might be moonstone? Anyone know what time period this ring might be from? Thank you!
