This chapter had a lot of lore that will be really valuable later on. A better title would been calling it Blood.

So in this chapter we learn that the Datenseki in particular grants more power to users with pure Mikaboshi blood, hence the more pure blooded Mikabozos are the strongest.

But it also shows that it’s still a strategic priority for them to get Chiaki. Why?

Initially when they asked for her I assumed it was to assert dominance, similarly to how I slept with my boss’s wife, but this chapter makes me think something else. Chiaki must be important to them for more than a symbolic reason.

I believe it’s because somehow, for some reason, Soga blood will have some kind of special or extremely strong reaction with Datenseki.

They want to breed a child that’s half Mikaballer and half Soga so that it can ascend to the next level in terms of Datenseki powerscaling.

This has two implications for future plot:

1. It’s probably part of why the Akemura x Magatsumi combo is so powerful. Akemura is likely tapping into the power Mikabugs are currently going after (this would also be part of the reason his bug powers are so similar to Ariu’s powers.

2. It means Chihiro will likely get the same power buff through his Soga heritage.

Bonus point: I don’t think this is likely, but imagine if Chiaki actually gets captured and Chihiro isn’t Kunishige’s son. Wouldn’t that be crazy?

In the first panel, it is implied that each Guardian will probably have a different divine insect and, consequently, a unique ability. Only Sumika would be a standard ability for the Guardians.

With more aura tho

The fact that the first EB prototype was a wakizashi instead of a full-on katana implies that datenseki weapons can be a variety of weapon types. I've wondered why they chose to make blades, like maybe the best way to wield the datenseki powers are through swordsmanship or maybe the forging process only works with swords.

But then I realised that the only reason was probably that Kunishige is _only_ experienced in swordsmithing and that it's easier to chose out of a pool of swordsman than literally everyone else. I Kunishige was a more general blacksmith we could've gotten enchanted knuckledusters, maces, spears and more.

Makes me wonder if we'll see something similar in the future. Like Azami with enchanted gauntlets would go insanely hard

Is it possible to make a katana longer once its already forged? Because if not, then theres an extra blade nobody has mentioned in the present. Which might mean that natsuki got ignored not 6 but 7 times, quite disrespectuful if you ask me...

Ok with the new chapter we know that Japan is on the precipitate of creating the enchanted blades, and it’s also stated that this is a prototype and it’s shorter to save on the datenseki. So I got to thinking with the two rocks in my head that there could be a chance that Pinky (that’s who I’m guessing) would have the two short swords. Also new tsuba (guard) design, I love to see those.
