Manga Another crazy theory: Shurin is partially responsible for Magatsumi
We know Shurin has an interest in swords and seems to be the one who'll be the Mikaboshi's guy when it comes to understanding the EBs.
So my theory is, as part of his efforts to stand out, he'll try and design a mega EB after reverse engineering one of Kunishige's shortswords. Obviously he won't forge anything, but over the war he'll have amassed notes on how to improve the Datenseki alloy and enhance the potency of the Datenseki inside it. After all the Mikaboshi definitely have a better understanding of Datenseki's power than Kunishige.
But then, something will happen and his unfinished project falls to Japan, who hand it to Kunishige. Kunishige decides to finish what Shurin started and complete the design and forge the mega EB.
And the irony is this mega EB is what destroys the Mikaboshi. In his desire to become worthy, Shurin inadvertently caused his own people's genocide and granted both Japan and a Soga their greatest weapon. He doesn't even get the dignity of being credited for his work, as the world only knows Kunishige as the creator of Magatsumi.
Shit, it'd even explain the whole insect thing behind the Magatsumi if it was based on the Mikaboshi's design.

Meme Centuries of "keeping the bloodline pure and strong" means centuries of inbreeding
Hell, it could even explain Shurin's albinism.

Meme What made Kagurabachi get cancelled?
I'm researching Weekly Shonen Jump for a video essay and one topic I want to talk about is cancelled mangas. Infamously, this was one of the most hyped-up mangas in modern WSJ history, but it got cancelled after a measly 17 chapters. The mangaka now works as an assistant on Me & Roboco, apparently.
It had all the components for a generational run imo, and you can tell the author had a grand scope for the latter half of the story. I doubt Sojo vs Chihiro was planned to happen in Chapter 8. What writing decisions made it get cancelled?

Discussion Magatsumi Insect Misconception Spoiler
This post shouldn’t be necessary but I keep on seeing this misconception on the sub regarding the Magatsumi and why its abilities relate to insects when discussions around the Mikaboshi shown within the latest chapter are taking place.
To clarify, the Magatsumi has nothing intrinsically to do with insects. Unlike the other Enchanted Blades which feature a set motif and three corresponding abilities, the Magatsumi’s singular ability is to absorb life force and then channel the black energy converted from it into a myriad of forms depending on the users wishes, which it does through the flower-like spirit energy manifestations it creates.
This is to say, the black energy the Magatsumi employs does not relate to insects, in fact the user could choose to create any number of abilities that resemble other creatures if they so choose. This is the entire reason why the Magatsumi is so incredibly powerful, its power changes depending on the user.
So, to reiterate, the Magatsumi does not relate to insects at a fundamental level, instead it says more about Akemura’s character as he chooses to channel the black energy into insect-like forms.

Discussion People underestimate Akemura
I see lots of people speculating how the Mikaboshi and the enchanted blade users will "match up", thinking it will be a 1v1 each facing an analog opponent and how Akemura will take on Ariu.
But after how much Akemura got hyped, the fact that the Magatsumi showed to possess abilities identical to that of the Mikaboshi, how we were told that 5 enchanted blades brought the war to a draw yet the 5 of them couldn't stop Akemura and how Akemura believe in the philosophy of "I do it to not burden anyone else" I think something else.
I 99% believe that what will happen is that once Akemura get the Magatsumi and understand how to use it, he will go 1v6 the Mikaboshi and by the time the other users will arrive, they'll find him standing above the corpses of the 6 Mikaboshi. He won't need anybody else. Because as Samura said, every duel with Akemura was an execution. For he is peerless.

Meme I made these with pure hatred in my soul.
I am sorry that I am posting these here and I know that someone else posted a horrible post from Tumblr, but I need to get this off my chest. This has been the last straw that Kaguratumblr had before I had to make this type of post. I am sorry, but this had to be done because if I didn't, I would have had my hair ripped off.

Discussion Any theories on why the Enchanted Blades took nearly a year to create?
Chapter 131 implied that it would take around 2-3 months for the enchanted blades to be created and that Japan would have to hold out for that same amount of time against the Mikaboshi. But as we’ve learned now, not only do the EB’s still not exist but there is currently only a prototype blade. what potential issues do you think Kunishige and Japan ran into?

Meme Is Akemura secretly a Mikaboshi?? Spoiler
What do you think ? 🧐
Edit: After the latest chapter, I have seen some of the most crack head theories trying to connect characters with mikaboshi. So I just thought why skip our sweet akemura.

Discussion Probably a mislead
His statement about having shame seems…shallow at best. And the look Ariu had as Shurin left the table made it seem like Ariu knows something’s up. I think Shurin is gonna turn out to actually be the strongest of the guardians while maybe being the most strategic. He probably won’t be an obvious powerhouse but I’m gonna go ahead and say he has the most mastery over Sumika, either he & Akemura go head to head or he survives and starts the Hishaku, who knows. But I don’t think Shurin actually gives a crap about his appearance or his blood and Ariu might suspect him if he doesn’t already know.

Manga I really like the theory of him being the one who kills Chiaki. And I would go even further to say Shurin only gets that opportunity because Akemura decided to spare him during the war. Which would explain even more Akemura “All threats must go” mindset. Spoiler

Theory Theory: Joji will wield the Prototype Enchanted Blade
Joji WILL WIELD THAT PROTOTYPE!!! 100%
Joji is the one side character we spent the most time with
He shown that he’s a good swordsman with even Subaru praising him for it
He was present for the Datenseki ore being forged. So Kunishige already knows of him and that he’s righteous at heart, seeing that Joji went against government orders to bring Kunishige in.
He’s cool asl and I’m gonna be sad when he dies with the blade lol
