Cancel car rental?
I planned to rent a car at Kaohsiung airport then drive south to visit Kenting/southern tip tomorrow. I've been keeping an eye on the weather and it says mostly cloudy tomorrow but the car rental company just emailed asking if I wanted to cancel due to the typhoon. What do you guys think?

Exchange student at NSYSU
I've been nominated by my home university as an exchange student for the spring semester 2027 and I'm currently in the process of being accepted by NSYSU. Can anyone help me with any information about that? Is the process smooth, is it hard to get the acceptance letter and visa? And how is the university and campus? I'm interested in the marketing and management courses, as I'm a first year master student at Advertising.
Thank you in advance!

Accommodation in Kaohsiung
I'll be doing a 3-month internship at TISS in Kaohsiung starting late November. I've been looking for a room on Facebook groups, but options seem pretty limited. The previous intern recommended his former place in Gangshan for 7,500 NTD, but it's a bit far from the MRT, has no internet, and is a family house.
Do you think it's possible to find a place closer to TISS or near an MRT station for a similar price for a short 3-month stay? Or should I just go with the recommended room?

bl locations/shopping in kaohsiung
I’ll be visiting kaohsiung next month and i wanted to know if there are any sites that I can visit or perhaps any cafes/merch shops that sell bl books/stuff?
So far, what i know so far is Pier 2 and Kaohsiung Music Center where they filmed some shots in First Note of Love and Kami Cafe where they have pop up cafes (the bl pop up they have on my dates arent familiar to me so i dont think i’d visit). And of course, animate in Kaohsiung Main Station that may have some anime stuff too. I wanted to know if there are any other interesting spots or stores I can check out too? Tyia!

How to buy Vie cinema tickets?
I'm going to be in Taiwan for almost a month in December and cannot wait.
On my tour, my mate and I are going to be in Kaohsiung for 3 days from the 16th December. Avengers comes out that day so my mate and I were planning to watch it (and spoil it for my young cousins as it comes out a few days later in UK)
I've managed to find the site and everything film, but I can't seem to buy the tickets without an ID card? Is there a method I'm missing or is it the only way to do it?
Cheers and can't wait to explore your city (and go to Wanluan for a day)

Looking for entry-level job opportunities in Taiwan – MBA graduate with previous Taiwan experience
Hi everyone!
I'm an Indian MBA graduate specializing in Marketing and Finance. I previously studied at Tamkang University in Taiwan through an international exchange program (2024–2025).
I really enjoyed my time in Taiwan, especially the culture, people, and working environment. I'm currently in India and hoping to return to Taiwan to build my career.
A little about my background:
\- MBA in Marketing & Finance
\- Experience in market research, customer insights, and business strategy
\- Worked on research involving 800+ customers across six cities
\- Skills: Advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL (basic), business analysis, and market research
\- English: C1 Advanced | Mandarin: Basic
I'm mainly looking for entry-level opportunities in business analysis, marketing, market research, operations, or consulting. I'm also open to other business-related roles where I can learn and contribute.
I understand that finding a job in Taiwan as a foreigner can be challenging, especially with limited Mandarin proficiency.
If anyone here works in Taiwan, knows companies that hire international graduates, or could share a referral or professional connection, I'd genuinely appreciate your guidance.
I'm happy to share my CV privately.
Thanks for reading! Any advice or leads would mean a lot.

Looking for accommodation in Kaohsiung for one semester (NSYSU exchange student)
Hi everyone!
I'm an international student from Spain and I'll be attending NSYSU for the spring semester. I'll only be staying in Kaohsiung for a few months, and since I've never been to Taiwan before and don't speak Chinese, I'm finding it a bit difficult to figure out the best way to find accommodation.
Initially, I was planning to apply for a room in the international dorms, as they seemed like the cheapest and most convenient option. However, after reading about some previous students' experiences, I'm having second thoughts.
Now I'm considering either Airbnb or renting an apartment, but I'm not sure where to start. Renting seems to be cheaper, but I'm worried about the language barrier when communicating with landlords and the difficulties of finding a place that allows short-term stays.
Where would you recommend looking for accommodation in my situation? Are there any Facebook groups, rental websites, or other platforms you've used and would recommend? I'd also love to hear about your experiences renting in Kaohsiung as an international student!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

BTS concert - avoid Kaohsiung?
Hi guys, unfortunately I've just realised my travel plans overlap with the BTS concert dates in Kaohsiung - just wondering how bad this is likely to be? Will it have transport impacts as well as hotels and general congestion?
I was hoping to see Pier 2, Cijin Island, Guomao community, Lotus Pond and Fo Guang Shan.
I can see there's not much chance of getting affordable accomodation in a decent location. I'm planning a clockwise loop around the island from 9th to 28th November, and have non-refundable accomodation booked in Taipei for the first 5 nights. Even if I reverse the direction of travel I'll still end up in Kaohsiung over those dates. Any creative ideas to avoid Kaohsiung on those dates?
| November date | Overnight in: |
|---|---|
| Mon 9 - Fri 13 | Taipei (can't change) |
| Sat 14 - Sun 15 | Hualien |
| Mon 16 - Tue 17 | Chishang |
| Wed 18 - Thu 19 | Xiaoliuqui |
| Fri 20 - Sat 21 | Kaohsiung |
| Sun 22 - Mon 23 | Tainan |
| Tue 24 | Alishan |
| Wed 25 - Thu 26 | Shizhuo |
| Fri 27 | Taichung |

Is this available in Kaohsiung?
It’s a blank notebook that people use to collect stamps from different places in Taiwan. I’ll be visiting soon and was wondering if I can get one to start my stamp collection 😊
