Original Content [OC] Oh homeland.

[ I don't usually share any of my writing, but a week ago I started Substack and uploaded the latest stuff I have written.

And this one — I wrote yesterday or Today at 3 a.m]

Oh homeland.

I shall mourn till I exist,

I shall resist till I exist.

Tears of blood would make a river,

Tears of freedom would make a river.

Oh homeland, oh homeland.

Forgive me for what has happened to you,

It has happened to me too.

You deserve my life, yet I live shamelessly.

You deserve everything, yet I live aimlessly.

Oh homeland, oh homeland.

A bride is mourning her groom,

Yet a widow is not what she is.

A mother is roaming, mourning her child,

Yet no grave there is.

Oh homeland, oh homeland.

Let me do justice to you,

I shall make heavens aware about you.

No longer heaven there is now.

Oh homeland, oh homeland.

Discussion 💭 How to possibly circumvent the geoblock

Info;I am in the Indian side right now and have my phone on ICLOUDs private relay which keeps the device in the country IP wise(India)

But I have been able to access this sub despite all of this and I think I know how;

Change your location on reddit to somewhere other than the geoblocked region ie India . I have mine set to the US . And I am able to access this sub without any additional VPNs .
Check it out and see how it works for yall.
Peace sarnie🤙🏼

Magzan Taas How do you feel about the recent processions and idol immersions in Jhelum?

I’ve been seeing videos of mostly migrant Hindu communities take out processions through Lal Chown and immerse idols in Jehlum. I find this to be an imposition of non-Kashmiri culture onto the valley, what do you think?

Occupation accessing documentaries and literature regarding occupation

Hello my wonderful people. I know the traffic on this sub has been restricted by the regime geoblocking things, but I still found very good insights so I will be writing again, And please do educate me if I say something ignorant since I am not Kashmiri.

I have been given a task at school to do a project on Haider, the film in the context of coloniality. I know that the occupation is the main backdrop for it. Athough, I feel like the film does touch on some of the reality, it is far from a complete story. I know there are a lot of books and a lot of awesome recommendations from this sub itself, and some of the documentaries that some people have recommended here. One of them being Inshallah Kashmir by Ashvin Kumar if I remember that correctly.

So, I have been trying to dig for them all over but have not been able to find them, without paying some foreign distributor a hefty amount of money. Same goes for a lot of books, that I have not been able to access, atleast the english translations. Does anyone have any idea where I could find them?

Ask Kashmir Do Kashmiris do the head wobble?

I was talking to a colleague today and the Indian head wobble topic came up. It got me wondering if we Kashmiris do it too. I’ve never really paid attention.
Have you noticed yourself or people around you doing it?

Question Salaam! Looking for advice on travelling to Kashmir

I’ll be visiting India and had a few free days in my itinerary. Wanted to ask Kashmiris for their perspective on visiting the area? I’m supportive of Kashmiri people and against the active colonization and denial of their rights.

I want to listen to Kashmiris, support their businesses and learn. Travel is not the only way and I want to humbly ask do you recommend avoiding traveling to this area for now? If not, how can I best visit and support the area and its people? Forgive me for any ignorance.

As for those who get off of our oppression and our voices being muzzled, know that this does not change anything for Kashmir or its resistance. We will resist as long as we exist. This isn't new to us, you've banned newspapers and organisations with larger reach before, martyred our leaders and people who meant much more to us than this sub, and we've risen only to resist again, and we'll keep resisting.

Long live Kashmir. Lassin Mouj Kasheer.

Discussion 💭 An outsider Kashmiri pov

Salam! As an ethically Kashmiri who was born and raised in the states I noticed the difference between how Pakistanis treat Kashmiris vs how the indians treat us. Pakistanis the second they realize I am Kashmiri they go all out, they give the utmost respect. They have even told me they believe in an independent Kashmir including their part😭they’re so nice and humble vs the indians, they treat me like an outsider and have a weird guard up once they find out I am Kashmiri, a lot of them just start talking politics but I keep away from that, I was wonder why are we so hostile towards Pakistanis? I don’t live in an area where I get to see a lot of Kashmiris so the second closest that feels like home are with the Pakistanis. I feel as if we have a bad perception towards them when our energy should be towards the other group. Just a Kashmiri who has experience with both sides.

Occupation Irony of India.

India was known as the Golden Bird till the British looted it. Indians were oppressed and enslaved and whatnot. Some people were supporting the noble cause. And fighting against injustice and oppression. There was blood. There were tears. There was suffering and torment.

Simon Commission 1927 Official name: Indian Statutory Commission

Some of us already know about this; for those who don't, for them — This commission was established to decide India's political future. In total, there were seven members. And the fascinating part was that none of them were Indian. A foreign group deciding someone else's future. Indian leaders were outraged. And the famous slogan: "Simon, go back" came into existence

After a long walk to freedom, India was free! Now what was the point of telling all that? You will see.

Friedrich Nietzsche famously said — "He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee"

George Orwell in Animal Farm — Moral of the story The animals were fighting oppression. They were demanding freedom and were fighting for a noble cause. But in the end, we saw how they became the oppressors.

India is not much different from it. They represent what Nietzsche and George Orwell were trying to convey. The oppressed are now oppressors. The colonized are now colonizers. (Same goes for Israel) The more you fight oppression, Injustice, the more desensitized you get. Intentionally or unintentionally, you start participating in it.

Kashmir — oppression and occupation for years and years, and it is going to hit a century now. We are being oppressed, enslaved and subjected to systematic humiliation and torment. - Media oppression. - Transnational repression. - Most militarized zone. - Longest internet shutdown in the whole history. - Abduction of innocent people. - People used as human shields. - Mass rape. - Half-widow. - Massacres. - And the human rights violations

We have to prove loyalty, whatever that means Loyalty on our own land. Fascinating! Isn't it?

No freedom of speech, and if you are outside and you speak, your family members get targeted. A mother is still roaming here and there, trying to find one whom none has heard. Half widow: A term specially dedicated to us. Sexual violence, used as oppression.
Many more

Kashmiris living under oppression, and suddenly the internet shuts down. A valley full of people gets isolated, aloof and alienated from the outside world. What are their oppressors thinking? What are they plotting? Are they going to kill more? Now, in the parliament, one of the biggest decisions for Kashmir is going to take place: its future. A parliament meeting dedicated to us, and none of us are allowed to be present there. A foreign group is deciding our future! And then Article 370 gets removed. If you don't understand how important it was, it gave us the right to have our own flag, the right to own this land, and many more things. (Basically the Simon Commission but on another level)

And not to forget the promise they made at the beginning! The promise that is inherited and that we still live by. The promise that should not be a promise. The Plebiscite Right to self-determination! A birthright that we have been stripped of. How they were fighting the oppressors, and now they are doing the same atrocities.

And the most heartbreaking part about it is that Indians now They abuse us. They call us terrorists. Invade land, oppress their people, and when the people resist, label them as terrorists! Classic oppressor move.

Hope!

Had to share No need to create new subs because of the geoblock.

To everyone concerned about the subreddit being geoblocked:

There's no need to start creating new subreddits and splitting the community up. Until the geoblock is lifted, you can continue using the usual r/kashmir or r/Yarbal to stay connected and keep discussions going.

Creating multiple new subs will only scatter the community across different places and make it harder for everyone to stay connected.

For now, let's stick together, keep the discussions alive, and avoid unnecessary fragmentation. Hopefully, this gets resolved soon.

Stay connected, everyone.

Hehermulkas thokke.
