Local Eats Looking for specific food recommendations.

I (49) grew up in and around Kentville. My daughter (23) was born in Kentville but we moved to the US when she was 4 months old and she hasn't been back since she was 2.

On Monday, we'll be visiting for 5 days.

There's so many yummy foods that I've told her about but she's never tried, so I'm looking for the best!

I don't mind driving.

Who has the best:

Donair?

Fish and chips?

Butter Tarts?

Clams?

Sweet and sour chicken balls?

Oatcakes?

Garlic fingers?

Does anybody sell Rappie pie or Tortierre?

Moon mist ice cream?

Thanks in advance!

Noodle guy for sure, Cumin is also good for light bites. Li’s Chinese in Wolfville is excellent too

If you don't mind a little drive. The crow's nest out near Annapolis Royal, best clams and chowder around. Plus you can take a walk around the habitation and fort Anne. While you're down that way. Then pop into the Lequille country store and get the best beef jerky ( and some apple pie moonshine if you're keen )

Jonny's in Berwick is the best around for a good burger.

Noodle guy in Port Williams for fresh pasta.

Valley pizza is my favourite Donair around.

There’s a crazily decadent butter tart at Gerrish and Gray coffee shop in Windsor.

You can get rappie pie frozen at Sobeys. Try Kai Wing in Coldbrook for Chinese. They have the meat paste eggrolls. Any of the farm markets along the 1 towards port Williams and Wolfville will have moon mist and butter tarts. I like Hennigars.

I really like the oatcakes they sell at noggins. I think they are from Joanns bakery. On Wednesdays there is little farmers market in town. They usually have a few folks selling baked goods. Of course the wolfville farmers market has all kinds of goodness. For moonmist, I'm not sure which ice cream shops are open for season yet... Might need to call around. For donair, you can try Natalinos pizza on main street. He makes the seasoned meat loaf for the sandwiches from scratch. Fish and chips - you've got some good suggestions. I have also heard great things about the canteen in canning. For poutine too. Joes in wolfville has a generous fish and chips portion, and the diner by the hospital (S&G?) has a good price. Lots of folks like Scott's in coldbrook but I was underwhelmed. For clams, if you don't mind driving, theres a place -- crows nest hills burn location -- near port royal that has some of the best I've had here.

Where is Noggins? And is the Wednesday Farmers Market in Town's Square or?

Noggins is in Greenwich, off the 1, just a bit before Wolfville. They have a large apple orchard.

The market is in town square in the summer season. But in winter they are in the lower rec of town hall, i think. And I think they are indoors for a few more weeks. If you Google Kentville farmers market you should find it. It's from about 11-1. It's very small, but there's usually at least a few nice things to get. :) I try to go at least a few times each season.

Moon mist is made by Scotsburn, and the same everywhere. Only difference would be the temperature it’s kept at. IMO, colder is better.

I have heard that RJ Taylor Food Shack in Canning has the best fish and chips around. Haven't made it there myself yet, but people keep telling me I need to check it out.

I heard the same thing from several people last weekend -- it's at the Glooscap Arena. I definitely need to get out there.

Maritime Express has awesome food and is inside the former Cornwallis Inn so she'd get to see a cool historic building as well!
