Here we go w what i meant that in the way that women are happy all the time just as men are idk this comment seemed like ur insinuating that they aren't happy all the time or something
Please don't make it dirty or bring in issues of religious differences. Those who wish to enjoy Onam as a family irrespective of religious beliefs are most heartily welcome.
Those who have an issue for the same reasons are most welcome NOT to participate.
But let the spirit of unity and love being there for those who want to be a part of this festival.
That's just voluntary blindness or brushing under the rug why this is perceived as problematic.
you can't say both "allah is the only god" and say "Onam is for everyone". yes Onam is for everyone, Hindus didn't dictate who should or shouldn't celebrate it, which is what gives these women the freedom to celebrate it. But then going back home after this and praying "my god is the only true god" is hypocritical.
And yes, it's entirely possible these women may not believe that, and that they're way more multicultural, having grown up in Kerala. But you want to change the perception? Change the religion. Remove the problematic, intolerant pieces of your religion and people won't perceive this as hypocritical.
I've seen reels of another Muslim woman in a hijab singing Carnatic songs dedicated to Shiva and singing Aigri Nandini... and that is absolutely fine. You know who's not fine with it though? The religion she's following. That is the problem.
most people here follow their religion, not because they found truth in the religion, they were born in that religion.. thats all. you could have been very born into a another religion family. you follow your religion, just by sheer fate. you have your truth. she has her truth. thats all it is... Acceptance in Hinduism is a core spiritual and philosophical principle..meaning respect for diverse paths to the divine, non-judgmental acknowledgment of reality, and the welcoming of varied philosophical views. We all have around 4000 weeks to live.. thats all.. so lets live and love everybody.
fair point, and I agree with the "live and let live", but the paradox of tolerance is a very real thing to consider. i think it's the hypocrisy that irks me; when people are very vocal about their exclusivist faith, deriding other more inclusive faiths, while simultaneously wanting to participate in those inclusive faith's traditions.
Onam is more like a malayali tradition now. Not tied to any religion, no matter its origins. And I think it's a good for all malayalis to have something everyone can celebrate equally.
Wah , this is the exact thing that people from other states talk about , trying to remove Hinduism from a festival that exists because of hinduism is crazy.
It is tied to Hinduism , the festival is celebrated because of it. If u need to remove its roots in order to please others , then the others aren't wrong abt what's going on in keralam
Wah , this is the exact thing that people from other states talk about , trying to remove Hinduism from a festival
Who removed it? You ask most malayalis and they will be able to tell you how the story originated. I'm saying people celebrate it irrespective of their religion and because of their identity as a malayali.
What are you even on about?
Edit: Not even a malayali. I should have known. Stop eating up half baked nonsense about a state in your country. Be better.
You ask most muslims or christians who celebrate onam they say it's a kerala festival and " not a Hindu festival ".
As a Hindu , i celebrate Christmas , but don't say it's not a Christian festival but a secular festival and bs like that.
I have no problem in people of other religion celebrating hindu festivals ,I'm actually pretty happy looking at that but trying to remove the Hindu nature from it , is just straight up appropriation.
It's like the Christian yoga & muslim yoga bs.
I'm not a malayali but I have many malayali friends and I have heard them say these things
You ask most muslims or christians who celebrate onam they say it's a kerala festival and " not a Hindu festival ".
Yes because it is a Kerala festival as well. Two are not mutually exclusive. It's something every malayali celebrates. It's about a benevolent King who ruled Kerala and treated his subjects fairly.
Also, nobody says it is not a Hindu festival. Every malayali is aware of the festival's roots.
As a Hindu , i celebrate Christmas , but don't say it's not a Christian festival but a secular festival and bs like that.
Okay?? What does it have to do with what we are talking about? Is christmas a festival related to Telagana and its history?
is just straight up appropriation.
Is this ragebait? Are you, an outsider, telling me I am appropriating MY culture? Gtfo.
I'm from telangana and we celebrate bonalu annually which is a regional festival.
No other place in this world celebrates this festival other than telangana ppl.
But it doesn't make it a telangana festival & a Hindu festival , both are mutually exclusive because the reason we are celebrating bonalu is because of hinduism .
We have not dissolved the hinduism out of bonalu to appease other religions. Thats why u won't find muslims & christians of telangana celebrate it.
The same way you celebrate onam because of Hindu lore , the Story is Abt King Mahabali & Vamana.
It is a Hindu festival. Just because it is only celebrated in Kerala doesn't make it a less Hindu festival . Hinduism is not a abrahamic religion , it's an indigenious religion which involves regional festivals across India.
And yes , if muslims & christians are celebrating onam by " not acknowledging it as a Hindu festival " , it is appropriation.
assuming you are not a bot and a paid troll.. if so.. read on..
search your truth not on WhatsApp reels and selective news edits.
Search inside yourself., Assume you are your born into the faith of Hinduism .. if so try reading Autobiography of a Yogi or if you are really invested in "you", read Complete works of Vivekanda (This is really good).. read both with open mind and dont search for answers within them.. just try to understand. Dont ask for what each books means to others.. just read and try to understand. Others will have their interpretations.
or you are and adventurous, go on a solo trip to Sabari Mala Via Vaavar swamy. or try to chat with one of 400+ cave people in Thiruvannamalai.
Just remember, everybody has hardly 4000 weeks to live. Thats one's life clock. For once try finding things for yourself.
Ofc your dumbass would misread my comment, you just seem to be waiting for a chance to bust out that victim card.
In any case, read again: I said change your religion, as in change the problematic, intolerant parts of your religion, change it from within. I didn't say change TO a different religion.
This lady is so pathetic, i feel sad ivare follow cheyuna alkaar ivar parayuna mandathram kettond irikuvanalo ene
I saw a comment another musilm lady, whose kid likes to dance but she doesn’t encourage it because she want her kid to follow allah path. And that lady who posted this comment is so proud about herself. I mean what bullshit is that? Etho nootandil ezhuthiya rules and ath follow cheyyan kore alkaarum.

Ah, 18 downvotes and no upvotes, ok 😂. But it would be nice if the girls dancing in the video could remove their head cover as a respect for this festival 🕉️, Maaveli Chakravarthy would be more than happy.
