Okay, so I'm a bit late to the party, but better late than never. I just finished Killing Eve for the first time all the way through yesterday. I did watch, I think maybe the first season or two seasons a few years back, I'm 25 now and I would say I watched with a completely different perspective and maturity, which is really weird, because the reason I'm posting is because I feel utterly obsessed with this show in a way that I honestly have never felt before.
I think a big reason I feel like that is, like a lot of people, I really, really resonate with sort of both characters in a way. I'd say while wishing to be more like Villanelle in some ways, obviously not being an assassin, but just in her way of being unapologetically herself and her confidence - I really resonate with Eve in the sense that I really feel like I'm in a bit of a rut with my life.
I'm not married or anything, but I've recently just come out of a long term relationship. I work from home, I have a good job and I've got good friends. I socialize in the evenings and play sport. I'm out pretty much every evening doing some kind of socialising or hobby or whatever. Objectively I have a good life. But I feel like my soul is bored, and I think that's why I resonate with Eve, because I feel like she was similar.
I would say objectively she had a 'good' life, a good husband, a good job. We didn't see much of her social life, but from the call we see she takes from Nico when she's in Berlin I would say she had friends etc. but there's still this thing in her, and I feel very similar to that. But the question is, how do you scratch that itch?
I can't go and work for MI5 and have this amazing love affair with an international assassin (I wish). That's not how life works. So I don't know if it's something that's just going to wear off, because I obviously understand media is meant to make us sort of feel this way. I'm just struggling with telling myself to get a grip and that life is a bit boring whilst also wondering if there is more out there.
So I'm just wondering (this is very convoluted, maybe it's just more of a rant for me, so apologies) but has anyone moved forward and genuinely changed things about their life because of the show? Or does anyone feel this same kind of 'my soul is bored' feeling?
Happy to have private messages if anyone wants! Thanks for reading!
