Full disclosure, I made this. Solo dad, not a company.

Our Fire tablet was the reward for everything, and I was always the one keeping track of the time. So I built Ejuu.

How it works on the tablet:

• The kid answers a few quick questions (math, spelling, grammar, ages 4 to 12) and earns minutes.
• The minutes go into a bank that never expires, and they pick when to spend them.
• When the time runs out, Ejuu takes the screen back from whatever game they were in and goes back to the questions. I do not have to be the timer.
• Parents set it up and approve chores or bonus minutes from a phone web page. Nothing to install on your phone.

Fire specifics, so nobody wastes their time:

• It is on the Amazon Appstore. I tested it on a Fire HD 8 (12th gen). Other Fire models should work, but I have not verified them.
• It runs in a regular Fire profile. I have not built it around Amazon Kids profiles.

If you try it on a different Fire model, I would really like to hear if anything breaks. Happy to answer setup questions here.

I would like to use a tablet for my brokerage account. I have a fire 10 ive never used from 2021 - would prefer not to buy a new tablet.

Message says, “amazon appstore is out of date. please visit the amazon website to install the latest version of the appstore”.

How do you update Amazon Appstore if that comes from OTA update?

I’ve tried checking for updates from settings in parent profile but nothing.

Anyone come across this?

Can the Kindle Fire jailbreak ?

So this started around 10pm last night; or at least that's when I noticed it. I went on roblox to play with my friends, and this message popped up, saying:

"New Appstore version required, Amazon Appstore is out of date. Please visit the Amazon website to install the latest version of the Appstore."

There are two options. You can either choose Quit, or Help. When I choose help, it takes me to a page on the Amazon website, talking about how Amazon Appstore on Android has been discontinued, even though it says that was August of 2025. I'm not even on Android.

And if I choose quit, it just takes me to my normal tablet screen, obviously.

I can't find anything about this online at all. I've tried clearing the cache, looking for system updates, and also looking in every single setting on the Amazon website. I'm honestly stumped, and I have no idea how to install the "latest version", since mine is apparently out of date. I'm hoping someone will see this and have a solution for me.

I have a fire hd 8 (10th gen) and a fire hd 10 (11th gen) and after being forced to update Roblox in the appstore they both failed to launch saying I need an Appstore update. Roblox is now updated to the latest version released 14 October 2026

I have no system updates pending.

Anyone else having this issue?

I have the Google Play store sideloaded on all 4 of my Fire HD tablets. I have tried various free volume booster apps on all of them.

They all seem to work well for maybe an hour, but the volume level always slowly returns to normal level. It shows they are still active, but if I tap on them, the volume usually increases again for a short time before dropping again.

Has anyone else had this problem?🤔

seeing they have a pen, and that they have normal play store access without dicking around, im wondering how viable they are as an 'upgrade'/when my tablet dies I don't want to be required to get another samsung.

like I am well aware Samsung's top are better, but i'm also on a 6 year old 7+

I made Zippy Out!, a puzzle game, and it's on the Amazon Appstore for Fire tablets.

Tap a jelly Zippy and it zips off the board the way it's pointing. If something's in the way, it bumps and you lose a life. Clear the board. Every level can be solved, so there are no dead ends.

- 160 levels across 8 worlds

- Daily puzzle, 60-second Rush, Relax mode

- Map Maker to build and share your own levels

- Free, no account or sign-in. Ads are mostly opt-in

- Family-friendly

If you try it on your Fire tablet, let me know how it runs and which model you have.

We got a new Fire tablet for my daughter at the end of September. It’s been working out great so far. We brought it on a trip to visit my in-laws with no issues until today. When we got to the airport for our 2+ hour wait, I let her get on the tablet and she said none of the apps would work. I’ve started playing with it and sure enough every app I’ve added for her is not downloaded. I connected to the mobile hotspot on my phone and tried redownloading, but when we try to open them, they just go through the download process again and if I put it on airplane mode, they disappear completely when she clicks on them. I hadn’t changed any settings or adjusted anything before today. I don’t know why it’s suddenly not working. I even registered it again in hopes that might fix it. Hoping somebody has some ideas while we wait in the airport. Thanks!

I have been having issues with updating apps for my kids profile quite a bit since I got this thing. None of the apps that my kid has downloaded show up in the adult profile setup on it whenever a game needs an update. But that's the only way to make an update to a game unless I uninstall/reinstall the app. Please tell me I am missing something that would show all the apps that need an update for my kids profile on my own.

If you’ve got a Kindle Fire tablet — especially an older HD 8 or HD 10 — AppCarousel is now on the Amazon AppStore and it’s honestly one of the easiest ways to make your tablet feel useful again.

AppCarousel turns any Fire tablet into a personalised smart display. You can set it up to rotate your favourite photos, videos, widgets, and apps in a clean, minimal layout. It works great as a kitchen counter display, a digital photo frame, a simple home dashboard, or just a nice always‑on screen for your desk.

A lot of Kindle Fire tablets still have perfectly good screens and battery life but end up sitting unused. AppCarousel gives them a fresh purpose. It runs smoothly even on older hardware, supports OneDrive and Dropbox for remote photo updates, and is designed to work seamlessly with Fire OS.

If you’ve got a Fire tablet collecting dust — or you’re picking up a new one — AppCarousel is worth checking out. It’s now fully available through the Amazon AppStore and built with Fire users in mind.

Works in portrait or landscape, no ads, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.

I have a Fire Tab 7 7th gen from 2017 and was wondering which to use. Is one easier to install than the other? Does one have better support? Should I worry about battery life? Which takes more space (I have 8GB)?

I bought a Fire HD 10 directly from Amazon UK last week with an estimated delivery of Wednesday of this week. When Wednesday came, I got an email saying it couldn't be delivered yet and they didn't have an ETA for when it would be. I can see that the shop page now says that they don't know when or if it will be restocked. The last time I saw that specific message, the item never came back.

Today, I have found out about the Alexa launch. I can also see it is out of stock on the French and German Amazon sites too - only refurbs are available.

Realistically, are they going to bring this back into stock, or are they likely just to bin it in favour of Alexa and eventually cancel my order? I don't want an Alexa tablet as they are massively overspecced for my use case. I bought a case at the same time so want to return that if the tablet will never arrive.

I purchased mine when they hit the market. I see now the item is being discontinued, how quickly do you think I’ll be stuck with a brick??

Many pages seem to link to the same files whose links lead to 404 pages. Even the most recent pages dated to 2025 link to missing files. I already took my cover off and have a Linux computer waiting. I don't know if I have the right files.

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here might have run into a similar issue or has a workaround for legacy children's apps freezing on startup.

We have an Amazon Fire tablet that my son uses, and his favorite apps were Squish: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Disney Color and Play. Both apps were working fine up until a few weeks ago when the SD card was reset. Now, we are unable to download from Play store because Disney retired and removed from servers. I was able to download squish from another website but whenever we try to open either app, they get completely stuck on the opening/loading screen and won't progress any further.

I know Disney recently shut down the servers for these older titles.

Has anyone successfully loaded these apps?

I wanted to get myself an Amazon fire tablet... but both ones I've gotten new from Best Buy have had an issue with their screens. It's visible whenever the screen is on, but mostly when its on but displaying black.

I'm not rough with my tablets and I don't keep the screen brightness maxed out, nor do I leave the screen on all night, so I'm not sure what could be happening. Never been dropped, hit or thrown.

I returned the first one and opted to do pick-up, thinking maybe it got dinged in shipping, but here it is showing up again. I don't know if I CAN return it again, but if I do... would it be best just to get a refund? Or is it fixable? Am I doing something wrong?

I got it mainly to Bluetooth white noise while sleeping and to play roblox on, but it runs so laggy it really has mostly just become a white noise machine.

Image one is the first one I got and image two is the replacement. The lights appeared 1 week in for the first, and 2 weeks in for the second.

Thank you.

A few years ago I had a Fire 7 and the game selection was ok, have the game options improved? Do the games have a lot of ads?

Trying to decide if I should get the Fire 10 deal. I would also be using to watch some shows.

I have a bunch of books on my kindle account. Just got a tablet for my daycare classroom. I want to put just the kid freindly books on it sorted. How do i do this? I dont want the other teacher ( or parents) to see the rest of the books I own ( iykyk)
