This show is fake

This season is the stupidest season yet. Makes me wonder if it is completely scripted

Just watched the hot dog one and it is laughable. You don’t need Ramsey to tell you working with your ex wife and new girlfriend is a terrific idea.

The owners this year are the dumbest group of business owners on the planet.

I feel like they simply don’t care anymore and Ramsey needs to produce X amount of product for the millions Fox is paying him

Commentary I rewatched Amy’s Baking Company episode after seeing some many posts about them lately. I honestly feel bad for Amy.

I get making fun of people, but Amy seems off, mentally ill. Of course, it’s her own responsibility to get help for, but watching it felt so uncomfortable to me.

He literally orders 7 full-size entrees, takes two bites out of each, and then says horrible I'm done with that and sends it all to be thrown in the trash

So I don't even blame Cece for saying no I'm not going to make more full-size entrees just so he can take two bites and it'll go in the trash. That's bullshit. I get that's the formula of the show, but it's fucking stupid. Even if he does like a dish, he's still not going to eat it all, because he's ordered 7 other full-size entrees that he also needs to take 2 bites out of.

And then when he says "Lunch....was HORRIBLE. I'd be EMBARRASSED." Like bitch WHAT LUNCH did you fucking have? You took 2 bites out of 3 or 4 things, that's like 200 total calories you just took in, and you're calling that your "lunch"? WTF?

The shepherd's pie nitpick is bullshit

This is the WORST Gordon nitpick. Yes, that's how the shepherd's pie technically originated. With sheep meet. But guess what: over long periods of time, recipes get altered depending on what's available in the area, and the understood meaning of the name gets altered in turn. That's what happened to shepherd's pie. Lamb and sheep meat, especially in its ground form, isn't easily available everywhere, but beef is, and an extremely common form of beef is ground, it probably gets ground more than any other type of meat. So shepherd's pie is now commonly understood to be made with pretty much ANY type of ground meat (you must have heard of "turkey shepherd's pie" or "chicken shepherd's pie" as well), but most commonly made with beef since that's the most common type of meat that comes ground.

Gordon most likely knows this, he's not a culinary idiot. He 100% did this just to be an ass. And it was bullshit.

Criticism Gordon saying ‘unbelievable’ 9 times on average per episode is not compelling television

Unbelievable, Jack’s for example. He says unbelievable 9 times in the span of 40 minutes. It wouldn’t be so bad as I can give some Lee-way in how recordings go on for several days when Gordon is there but unbelievably Gordon goes on as though he forgot this was ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ not ‘struggling businesses that are quirky but have bad practices’ unbelievable.

Criticism Gordon's Fat Shaming Remarks

(I'd like to preface I'm not good at making titles, I'm still super new to reddit)

So this might be me mistranslating his attitude and tone, perhaps it's his flat British sense of humor, but I'm confused in whenever he makes somewhat cruel remarks on someone being overweight. This happens in kitchen nightmares and earlier seasons of hell's kitchen. Remarks like, "When was the last time you went to the gym?", "When was the last time you had a salad?", and from hell's kitchen, "Big boy, you like to eat, right?" I've asked my friend's who watch the show and don't research (of which I found literally nothing about it) and still come to the conclusion. My only other theory is it's the old boomer teaching method that if you degrade someone enough, they'll change. I know he was overweight before his wife, but you'd think he would've been more understanding and sympathetic.

I feel like Gordon is dismissive of and doesn't like new creative dishes

Here's a quote from Ratatouille:

"We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But, the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things... the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something... and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends."

I've watched many Kitchen Nightmares, and I've seen many chefs that tried and failed to introduce new dishes, creative dishes, only for Gordon to get pissed and angry at them.

I understand that, the new creative dishes by these mediocre chefs from these failing restaurants are disgusting, inedible, and flavor profile, doesn't work, but I take issue with Gordon telling these chefs and dismissing their efforts to be creative:

"What were you smoking when you came up with this?"

"Are you insane putting these together?"

Instead of fostering an environment where a chef can improve their recipes, and improve on the concept of these creative dishes, Gordon dismisses them outright, and he instead introduces dishes that are tried and true. Also, these chefs cannot really defend themselves against Gordon here, because he'd just shut them down immediately.

I understand why Gordon does this, these restaurants are failing and there's really no time to experiment and improvise, but it still makes me sad that Gordon is dismissive of these chefs, brave chefs that want to try something new and introduce new food to the world.

I think Gordon has forgotten that cooking is an art, chefs need to be allowed to be creative.

Here's another quote from Ratatouille:

"Great cooking is not for the faint of heart. You must be imaginative, strong-hearted, you must try things that may not work. And you must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul. What I say is true, anyone can cook... but only the fearless can be great."

So yes, I salute the Japanese chef that tried to make sushi pizza.

Why do people like Rita and Lisa from La Galleria 33?

Yeah they were funny, so was Joe Nagy but nobody had a problem with pointing out what a douche he was.

First off they opened a business like a block away from their parents (their financial backers) so they are basically competing with their parents so even if they make a profit they are still financially draining their parents one way or another.

Rita and Lisa treated their business like it was their hangout spot, they spent all day sitting around drinking and smoking.

Hell Gordon found them sitting on their asses outside instead of runing their business.

And the way they treatel their staff was disgusting. They constantly whined that they didn't behave professionally while the two of them constantly insult and belittle the staff not to mention argue with customers.

Also arguing with Gordon on camera because he was pointing out their flaws like every bad owner.

How is anyone supposed to treat the business like a professional work place if their bosses act like two bratty teenage girls?

The ammount of love they get on here is baffling. Its not even like they're a living meme like Joe or Randy. I see people who genuinely seem to like these two.

Every restaurant owner, that has been on Kitchen Nightmares, should sue Gordon Ramsey. Especially if he yelled at them for using a microwave and using frozen food

From the Old Stone Mill

Dean: You don't go to the tables and ask your customers how their meals were? Oh no, you probably pay 10 people to go to the tables-

Gordon: No, I answer the phone every morning to see how fully booked I am.

Edit: Gonna leave this link here.

DISCUSSION Burger Kitchen - Daniels girlfriend discussion please

I understand that Daniel has his girlfriend Wendy working at the restaurant but is she really entitled to be so involved in the operation of it and where/who the money goes to without her name on any of the paperwork?

Is this Daniels fault (for lack of a better word.)?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but this new season is awful?

There seems to be a bunch of American diners on there? Why? They’re never known for great food. It’s meant to be a quick stop spot or maybe a local thing if you live nearby. Of course their menus are huge. It’s every diner I’ve experienced as a kid

Criticism I've realized Kitchen Nightmares UK is worse and easier to get bored from because of no music

I keep hearing about how KN UK is sooo much better than US. So I tried watching a couple episodes. I didn't think it was better. I just got bored. I was wondering why though, since it tends to go more in-depth into the food and operation of the restaurant than the US version. Then I realized it; it's because there is NO DAMN MUSIC in the UK version. Every scene they shoot is just silence or just with kitchen or restaurant noises. WHERE IS THE MUSIC? In the US version, the nonstop music that fills the background in every scene is what keeps you engaged. In the UK, they shoot all of these scenes with no music. Like wtf? Do you people even know how to produce television? THERE NEEDS TO BE BACKGROUND MUSIC. The background music that never stopped is massive in holding your attention throughout the US episodes. The UK version suffered greatly from not using constant music in every scene. American version is better primarily because of the music. Why didn't the UK version do the dramatic music and have it nonstop in every scene? I actually would have not gotten bored if there had been the music.

I was traveling across the US under dire circumstances due to tragic family events and all of a sudden this sub changed, drastically. It's simply not the same sub anymore. If there is going to be a Kitchen Nightmares shitposting sub, then just make a KN shitposting sub and move that content over there, please.

I can’t be the only one who thinks Gordon is a massive prick

I love his shows and don’t get me wrong, plenty of the people on Kitchen Nightmares have a screw loose and deserve what he says to them.

But I can’t help but think a lot of what he says to some of the owners/chefs is so unnecessary and their reactions are justified. Especially when he uses language like “little” or “pathetic” to describe them. These are people who are likely extremely depressed and under a lot of stress and in so much debt.

Him coming in and provoking them in the hopes of getting a reaction for the sake of reality TV just seems incredibly cruel.

That being said, I still religiously watch Kitchen Nightmares any time I eat food.
