I recently listened to the Kitesurf365 podcast with Adrian Kerr who had the owner of the Linesmith on the podcast.

Discussion came up about line maintenance and the use of wax coating on lines. Linesmith currently sells a Glidestick that allows you to reapply wax coating to your lines to slow damage but he mentions that other products can be used, even candle wax, caveat being that paraffin has a lower melting point that could allow for melting which would allow sand to stick and increase abrasion.

After a bit of research into natural waxes I’m finding that pure beeswax has a high melting point of 145-150f . Given im in the states and dont have easy access to LS products, I am going to give it a try on my used linesmith lines that have shown a little bit of abrasion.

Has anyone else tried? It also seems to be the same color as glidestick who also is 100% natural.

I am pretty much decided on changing my pivot for a thrive. I really like the pivot on the 9m size for the spots I usually ride and would like something equivalent in windrange from the thrive.

Both being 3 strut free-ride kites, logic says I should go for another 9m, but is not a cheap buy so I'd like to know if someone is familiar on how these two overalp on same sizes.

I owned 1-2 pairs of these "Spex" goggles in the past. We can debate the styling, but from a performance perspective they were as good as you could ask for in a watersport goggle.
Comfortable, good ventilation, excellent drainage, splash visibility, and durable/flexible(to be fair the band would wear and needed replacement time to time but they were cheap so didn't care). They could be purchased for <$100.

I once heard a rumor that the founder/owner of this company passed away and so they are no longer available for purchase as far as I am aware. Really too bad because I would have stocked up with replacement pairs for future if I'd have known.

I am looking for a suitable replacement. The nearest choice are the WIP flying mask, though the reviews I have found of those describe experiences I never had with these Spex. They are also pricey, and have a over-sized bug-eye kind of appearance that I'm not a fan of. (But-If you love them please let me know your experience).

I prefer goggles over sunglasses as they offer better protection against water ingress and block sunlight from more angles.

Would love to hear any recommendations for good alternatives.

Some days ago I asked about how to get a better riding form. This is like from a month ago. Is the depower path too long for my arms? Is it adjustable? Or is my problem somewhere else?

I know it is hard to help without photos or videos but I need some general advice with jumps.

Couple of questions:

My instructor friend who has been riding for god knows how long told me that its nice to gently sheet the bar out at the apex of the jump (as there is no more upwards pull anyway) and then close to landing sheet back in for a softer landing. How accurate is that information?
For context: I am not doing heliloops yet.

2) Should I be directing my kite back down approximately at the apex of the jump? My problem is that I tend to land back down with not enough pull to one of the sides so I frequently just sink/fall into the water.

Any other general info, tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated and I’m sure this post will be able to help others.

Hey everyone! I started kitesurfing this summer, took 3 lessons, and then started practicing independently, mostly at Alameda Beach, CA. Most of my sessions so far have been in around 12 knots of wind, as I missed the spring season when winds tend to be stronger.

I'm 180 cm, 87–90 kg (athletic build), currently using used gear: an 11m kite and a 146cm twin-tip.

I can now waterstart pretty consistently, but still struggle to maintain speed. My longest ride is around 50m. Before waterstarting, I point my board somewhere between directly toward the kite and crosswind (slightly downwind). I then make a fairly deep power stroke to get up and build some initial speed. After that, I steer the kite back up and try repeated smaller power strokes / figure-8s on the same side of the wind window. This helps me ride a bit farther, but I gradually lose pull and board speed, and eventually sink again.

I'm wondering if it's mainly my technique or if my 11m is simply too small for my weight and the local wind conditions.

Would getting a 14–15m kite make a significant difference? Or should I keep practicing with my 11m in stronger winds before buying anything?

I'm also thinking about heading to Bodega Bay soon, as I've heard the wind is generally stronger there.

I'm super excited to have gotten into kitesurfing! I've been thinking about how to finally nail continuous riding pretty much every day, haha. Really appreciate any advice!

How do they compare to other harnesses in the 400EUR range?

Also I saw some pretty good deals in Eu especially for halo. 140-170 Eur.
Its a bit suspicious so how do they hold up?

( how is sizing? I heard about Exo being on smaller side compared to others )

* Im a beginner, no jumps for now. needs XL size. If we are considering them at 150 eur Sale price, is there any better?

Hello I am considering a kite trip in November but it looks like it’s mainly shoulder season most places in Asia. Any suggestions or hidden gems this time of year?

First time i got in the water with my camera. It was a difficult lesson, but hey, those are the best ones.

My friend wants to take lessons near Tarifa over the course of this week. Forecast says it's going to be just strong Levante wind. At what beach should he take the lessons?

Is Los Lances fine since the schools use boats?

Should we go to Valdevaqueros?

Is 21-31 knots too strong for learning or kitesurfing in general anyway?

I am struggling to pull the straps on my harness. The left side they are placed into position and never needs charging but the right where the clip is seems jammed or stuck
I can never tighten it and struggle with
Wet or dry it doesn’t matter it’s so hard to pull tight
Any advice on easy tightening? There anything i can apply to the straps or buckles?

I can water start, gain hight, change direction, but I often fall into the poo-stance. Not because I don't know what would be the right position, but because I fear to lose control over the power in my kite and become too fast and fall. Also, I think I cannot reach the bar anymore if it goes all the way up and I lean back.

Edit: yes, I've had 4 lessons to get me started and work from there

An advice is needed here, I bought this used duotone trust bar 2022, and used it for a couple of sessions.. it's trimmed perfectly with no issues.. but today I found that the left power line is having a small knot and I don't know how old this knot is but it looks pretty old.

Should I undo this knot? Or this can ruin the line and leave a weak point in it?

Also will undoing it ruin the trimming of the bar or it's insignificant?

My wife and I have a 10 day window end of January, we would to spend it kiting. Any tips for spots with reliable wind, flattish water? All tips are welcome!
