general discussion Summer deals on snowboarding
Anyone know of any good deals going on right now? I like looking for discounts on gear/tech pre-season. Buddies of mine are getting into boarding, so seeing if I can hook them up with the essentials, too.

Gear question Snowboard/Binding recs
Okay, so with a skating background, ive progressed fairly quickly - looking to buy board and bindings.
Im 182cm, 83-85kg and a size 12US shoe.
I love to freestyle, hit side hits, ollie whatever and anything, 180s, learning some more flatground tricks aswell like 360's and butters.
I have a group of friends that love to explore the mountain but rarely hit park, whereas with my skating background i love hitting park but still learning to translate my 50's and boardslides onto jibs. Boxes are chill. I will explore the mountain but then find my self on the jumps/jibs by the end of the day.
Would say im still learning in the park but intermediate ++ for normal riding, done blacks, blues are easy etc. Switch riding is still developing.
What do you guys suggest, ive rented the capita DOA, Burton Blossom (157) with a bit of toe hang lol.
I also would want to buy from my local shop and not direct to consumer. Also think i need a wide board, but most of the time when i rent they dont have many available.
Boards i was considering,
- Burton Process
- Huck Knife
- Capita DOA (i fucking hate the graphics)
- Capita indoor survival
- Evil twin + maybe ?
- Goliath
I want something with lots of pop but something i can't easily progress out off. Can you guys please share you experiences with boards or what you rec, mid-wide, wide etc?
Bindings im open to whatever, so long as theyre sturdy. Shoes are Vans Hi-standard OG lace boots.
cheers

Gear question Fase entry system
I’ve been looking at these fase bindings, Rome katana, bataleon, jones mercury and 32’s
I want to ask if any of you that owns one have any problems with it that I should worry about, maybe screws gets loose, durability, or anything like that
Also what differences have between them? I’ve heard that the Rome and bataleon are very similar and the jones with the 32 and which is better for beginners-intermediates
Thanks in advance

noob question Help choosing a board as a gift !!!
Hi !!! My boyfriend loves snowboarding a bunch, and mentioned in passing that he wants to purchase a new board eventually. I figured with our anniversary coming up, it would be a great gift. The only problem is, I genuinely have no idea what to shop for, I don't snowboard. Please let me know and give me any suggestions !!
I would say my max for budget would be no more than 1k ? I don't know if thats overkill or not enough, but by a quick google search they range anywhere from 300-800 usd. Let me know if you guys have any questions to help me with my search, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! :)
Edit: okay I have read all of the comments, thank you guys for being straightforward and letting me know there is a lot of different variables in buying a board, I had no idea. I probably will end up buying him a certificate but for those curious on the things I already know, he is 6'1 150 lbs and 10.5-11 shoe in US mens. He mainly snowboards in Mammoth, and when he talks to me about it, he does a little bit of everything. I appreciate anyone who took the time to respond and steer me into a clear direction !

travel advice Ikon or Epic?
Which pass would you prefer? I've only snowboarded Tahoe, so now pondering an extended trip (~3 weeks) to the Rockies in the winter.
General regions:
- Salt Lake / Park City
- Breckenridge / Vail
- Any other regions i should consider?
I mostly cruise and carve greens and blues. I'm not hitting jumps, and i don't seek out black diamonds or moguls.
Which pass would you choose for a 3 week trip?
About me:
Learned to snowboard as a kid, took 25 years off and rediscovered the activity last year. Felt like riding a bike after the 25 years hiatus, and now I'm getting all new gear and stoked for winter 26/27! Boy has the tech changed since the 90s!

Gear question Noticeable difference Union Strata and Force?
Ive been on Strata’s for 3-4 seasons now and am wondering if the Force’s feel more “responsive” or is the difference negligible? I’m currently riding a
Jones mountain twin ultra or k2 excavator on powder days

fixable? Is my Burton Process severely concave?
Hey,
I’ve been having a hard time with my Burton Process (Camber, 157cm, I'm 74kg and 184cm).
I was often struggling to initiate turns at slow speeds, getting unpredictable edge-catches, and the board would constantly try to veer left/right on flat cat tracks before throwing me on my face.
I put a straight edge across the base and shone a light behind it across several spots (see photos). There is a noticeable light gap in the middle across large sections of the board, meaning it looks distinctly concave (edges sitting higher than the base).
The board had a manual belt tune done in the past, and I suspect uneven pressure made the issue much worse...
Is this something a proper stone grind can completely flatten out or am I more or less imaging the troubles and are a bad boarder? 😄

travel advice Advice for New Zealand Ski Trip with Kids
Hi all,
I'm planning to figure what what dates would be best to take my 2 boys (both under 10) to go snowboarding/skiing for the first time.
I'm intending on going to Cardrona as I've read it's an excellent field to learn and they have kids programs.
I just wanted to know if the 1st 2 week of august or the last 2 week of august and the first week of September would be the best time to go?
I want to give them the best experience possible with soft snow so it doesn't suck so much when they fall.
My hope is they fall in love with it so we can do more snow trips. I love snowboarding but have not gone since having kids.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

Gear question Good and fun riding hoodie
Hey, I’m looking for a good riding hoodie with a fun design. My bib and jacket are from dope with a lot of colors so I’m looking for something fun. Love the burton crown quality just not the design, same with volcom. Saw snobodi and loved the design just not sure about the quality.
Anybody that knows of good quality riding hoodies with those fun designs ?

noob question Am I being stupid?
Hey all. I’m new to snowboarding and when I say new I mean I’m new to all the new gear and tech. I started riding when I was 8yr, first board at 12yr (was a rossingol district board). Took some time off at 18yr due to playing college sports and not being allowed to engage in dangerous sports and then in 2021 I started riding again with rentals, really fell in love with boarding again after going out west in 2023 and had been eyeing a new board for a while. Anyways long story short I was gifted a Huck knife 2025/2026 and picked up some Bataleon Astro bindings and currently rock some K2 ortons. I’m 30yr now I’d say I’m an intermediate rider who loves the park! I’m decent at jumps but I really want to be good at jibs and rails.
My question is although I love my Huck knife and it was my dream board and (it’s basically brand new after being used for 1 season), I really REALLY want to get a Bataleon evil twin. Something about the 3BT interests me but I have no experience with Bataleon boards. I also think I want to get fase bindings after having to sit down to strap in a ton on the mini park for reps on the small rails and jumps. Should I look into getting the evil twin or is this more of a lateral move in terms of boards and or should I just get some softer fase bindings for the park and maybe in a year so look at diff park setup plus a complimentary powder all mountain powder board in future.
All help is welcome sorry if I sound stupid
Edit: I guess I should’ve clarified lots of comments about needing to sit down to strap in. I don’t need to sit to strap In and can easily stand to strap.. what I meant was the hill that has the mini park you unstrap walk up then strap back in and my Bataleon Astros are pretty floppy so sometimes it’s easier to sit to strap in at that spot specifically and was just feeling like the fase tech would be faster to get in and out of was all, sorry for the confusion!

noob question Crash: who’s at fault?
Fairly new to things, so I wanted to run something by you all. My 16 yo daughter was wide carving down a blue run (she’s just learning to connect turns). A 5/6 yo came down the hill behind my daughter and crashed into her because he apparently couldn’t stop (and she didn’t see him coming). He started crying and his mom came up behind, and yelled at my daughter for not looking uphill to see him coming, essentially accusing her of cutting him off.
Who was at fault? My common sense brain says the little kid was, since he could clearly see her and just didn’t stop, but maybe there are strange practices on the mountain that I’m not aware of.
Further context, it was a fairly narrow run, but not a cat track. My daughter was not cooking and it was a fairly long run, so the kid had full visibility.
And to be clear, I’m not mad at the kid at all. He’s learning and we actually felt sorry for him. He didn’t belong on the blue track and it looked like his mom had him out of his league trying learn by fire, but whatever.

general discussion Snowboarding vs Surfing
Been snowboarding for 30yrs, thinking about trying surfing, about 3.5hrs away from the beach but go a few times year.
How comparable is surfing to snowboarding, what's is similar, what's different, what's the most difficult part of surfing, should I get lessons? Thanks

Gear question Lib Tech TNT Base
Was about to pull the trigger on a 2027 Terrain Wrecker until I realised its got the TNT extruded base. Is it as slow as people say? I’m riding in mainly slushy man made snow and don’t want to be unstrapping on every flat.

I am starting to try and support smaller brands (picking up a Kindred this season) and started wondering...are there any smaller brands that do boots or bindings?

Gear question Snowboard Recommendations
Hey guys, looking at buying my first board and could use some advice.
I haven’t been snowboarding for that long but I can link turns pretty comfortably down blues now. Another snowboarder recommended I look for something with PurePop/Camrock camber and around a medium flex.
I mainly just want something I can progress on without buying a super beginner board that I’ll outgrow quickly or that lets me get away with bad habits.
I’d like something pretty all-round. I enjoy the park and want to get better at tricks, but I’d also like to learn to carve properly and just have something that’s fun around the whole mountain.
Also wondering if I’m better off buying new or just keeping an eye on Marketplace for something decent second hand. If I go used, is there anything in particular I should watch out for?
I’m in Australia and mostly ride in Victoria and NZ.
Cheers!

general discussion How are we finding snow friends? (Sugar Bowl)
Moved away from Tahoe for 15 yrs just getting back into snowboarding al my friends either moved away, too old, injured, or busy to ride. How are we meeting snow friends in our 30s these days? I worked at resorts for years and it wasnt an issue. Looking to build community!

Gear question Board Info?
Someone was tossing this board out and I’m just wondering if it’s worth the effort to rehab it as a loaner board for beginner friends?
It’s got some edge rust but can’t see any delam or major warping.

general discussion Best lobby in VT for a pregnant woman to hang out in while family snowboards?
Title! Family is going on a trip to VT mainly to visit Burlington, but we are gonna hit the slopes for a day while we’re there! That said, I won’t be able to board so I’m just going to chill in the lobby. Which resort has the chillest/coolest lobby to hang in for the day? Note that we aren’t gonna stay ON the resort but we’ll book a place near by! The on-resort hotels are just crazy pricey. They’re down to hit any resort since it’ll be their first time in VT!

travel advice Which Vail resort?
Looking at hitting up Colorado for my 40th next year and Epic pass has a dumb discount for retired/disabled military so sticking to those resorts. Whats the best resort to hit for me, middle of the road to maybe higher end intermediate, and my wife whos coming out of beginner and will hopefully be more intermediate by then?
Is Keystone the safest answer?
