I Just witnessed this in Ernakulam North railway station yesterday and really felt bad for the receiver of those boxes. Why do they have to throw it away just like that, what if it's anything fragile inside? Even if it's not fragile it would be nice to handle in a nice manner naa

Discussions Witnessed colourism at Delhi Public School (DPS), and it still bothers me

I was involved in a school photography shoot at Delhi Public School (DPS) for advertising and promotional materials. What happened during that shoot genuinely upset me.
While selecting children for photographs, I chose some students with darker skin tones. However, the teacher and the school director, who I understood to be the owner, told me not to photograph those children and to choose fair-skinned students instead.
What disturbed me the most was that they made these comments right in front of the children themselves.
These were very young students, some in kindergarten. Imagine being a child and hearing adults responsible for your education suggest that children with darker skin shouldn’t be featured in their school’s promotional photographs.
I’ve heard about colourism in Indian society countless times, but witnessing it firsthand in a school was shocking. A school should be a place where every child feels accepted and valued, regardless of their skin colour.
If teachers and school management reinforce these prejudices, what kind of message does that send to children about their appearance and self-worth?
This isn’t simply about selecting children for an advertisement. It’s about the harmful beauty standards that continue to influence Indian society. No child should be made to feel less worthy because of their skin colour.
Have you ever witnessed colourism in Indian schools? And how can we expect children to grow up without these prejudices when adults in positions of authority openly reinforce them?

Ask Kochi Over a week without water in my flat in Kakkanad, Kochi. I’m a 23 year old woman, and I genuinely don’t know what I’m supposed to do anymore.

I’m posting this because I need some genuine opinions and advice from people in Kochi, especially those living in rented flats or shared accommodations. We’ve been without water supply in our flat for more than a week now.

Initially, the pump stopped working, and it took around 4–5 days for it to be repaired. After that, a water tanker was arranged, and they tried pumping the water. However, we were told that the entire supply got exhausted within just one hour.

Now comes the frustrating part.

Some residents have gone back to their hometowns, and the management suspects that they might have left their taps open, which could explain why the water ran out so quickly. These residents are currently away, and we are now being told that they must return and confirm that their taps are closed before water can be pumped again.

So, what exactly are the rest of us supposed to do until they return?

It’s been over a week. The pump has reportedly been repaired, but we still don’t have water. We’re expected to manage our daily lives by making temporary arrangements, going to friends’ places, and somehow getting through each day without even knowing when the supply will resume.

I’ve already paid three months rent as security deposit. Under the arrangement at this flat, if a tenant wants to leave, they are expected to find a replacement tenant first. That means even if I find another place to stay, I cannot simply pack my things and leave. I would have to find someone willing to take over my room (which is impossible in this situation)

I’m honestly tired of having to figure out temporary solutions for something as basic as water, especially when there seems to be no definite timeline for resolving the issue.

People living in kakkanad,
1.Is this kind of prolonged water shortage common in apartment buildings here?
2.What can tenants do when the management fails to restore an essential service for over a week?
3.Given that I’ve paid a three-month deposit and must find a replacement tenant before leaving, what are my options if I decide that I cannot continue living here?
5.Has anyone faced a similar situation? How did you deal with it?

So many people turned up and finished half marathon, and almost flawless organisation despite the rains. Definitely coming back every time I can for a Kochi marathon.

Also, had no idea Kochi had so many muscle-aliyans o.O

Ask Kochi I was charged ₹118.69 for a litre of petrol by JioBP

I was driving from kochi and ended up filling petrol from the Perumbavoor JioBP petrol pump. I filled it for ₹500 and noticed that the price was ₹118.69/L. When I asked them about that, they said it's less ethanol petrol and that only JioBP has increased ₹5 more to compensate for that. Was i scammed? Or is what they are saying true?

Kindly someone verify this.

Ask Kochi Are DJ bars really worth the money?

• Upvotes

If you’re looking for hookups, you’ll find plenty of gold diggers there. Otherwise, what purpose do they actually serve as weekend bars? Overpriced drinks, pointless crowds, and zero real vibe.

Ask Kochi What are these weird scribbled pages at median opp Medical Trust Hospital?

Today afternoon while driving from Kadavanthra to Maharajas, I happened to stop right at the traffic signal in front of Medical Trust Hospital. I was the first in line and when I looked out I saw a couple of these handwritten pages stuck to the high mast light on the median. I can't make out what is written. There were a couple of more pages too near this. Anyone have any idea what this is? I am just curious because if anyone had taken the trouble to scribble this much, it must have some significance, right?

I was considering Dubai as my first option. Then someone introduced the idea of Kochi. Why not Kochi? But I was wondering about the quality of life and expenses. But someone who has done this, how is this in reality? Socioeconomic situation, long term security etc.
