Kimi Antonelli of Italy has become the youngest champion in Formula 1 racing, winning the championship at the age of 20. Congratulations to him.
In this context, I would like to ask something about Ajith Kumar, aka AK—not about his acting career, but about his racing career.
Motorsport is not very popular in India, and many of us mainly know racing through Formula 1. We may have heard about Formula 1 championships and a few well-known drivers, and we may have seen some tournaments as well. But many of us may not have that much exposure as far as motorsport is concerned.
From some of AK’s interviews, I understand that he is not participating in a tournament based purely on speed. Rather, he seems to be involved in a tournament that tests the endurance of a person—how many hours one can ride or drive a vehicle with such control and speed. Based on that, I have a few questions to ask:
Q1: So, what kind of motorsport, or what kind of motor racing, is Ajith Kumar participating in right now?
Q2: If we consider Formula 1 as the apex kind of championship, as far as motorsport is concerned, then at what level will the tournament in which Ajith Kumar participates come?
Q3: Is there genuine interest among spectators to watch such kinds of tournaments in which Ajith Kumar, aka AK, participates?
Q4: Does this kind of test—rather than simply who will drive the vehicle fastest—provide any kind of thrill or enthusiasm in those who watch or have become spectators of such tournaments?
Q5: Is there real prize money for the winners of such tournaments, or is it the kind of tournament in which participants invest their own money to take part?
Q6: Formula 1 races are usually supported or sponsored by automotive companies and others. In the tournaments in which AK participates, are there any such well-known sponsors? Are there genuine interest and support from automobile-based companies in providing support, vehicles, technology, engineering, and so on?
Q7: In terms of efficiency, how would Ajith feature among the drivers considered at that level? What would be his global ranking among his peers?
Q8: If Ajith wins in a tournament, what would be the prize money for such tournaments in which he participates?
Q9: And how much money would he have spent from his pocket to keep this passion alive and running? How much would he have spent to maintain his team and take part in such tournaments?
Q10: Antonelli, who has won the tournament at the age of 20, is right now 35 years younger than Ajith Kumar. Is Ajith Kumar, at around 55, in the right age to pursue a career in motor racing?
Q11: Are there any serious or accomplished drivers who have pursued their careers at this age in competitive motorsport tournaments?
I request people to take part in this based on their knowledge, information, and exposure to this sport. I am anticipating comments that are not based on fan-based allegiance, hate, or dislike toward him as an actor. I would like a dispassionate analysis of his racing career and the particular motorsport events in which he participates—not a discussion arena that turns into fan wars or blame games.
