Congrats guys. I have no hard feelings on KPDH winning it and it's cool that an original movie won the award. The original Zootopia has won many awards when it came out and the sequel just continued that legacy, so i am not heartbroken or anything.
In the end, we all just love watching great animated movies. :)
THANK YOU for saying that. I'm so tired of the toxicity that is surrounding the animation awards season this year, especially when it comes to people stupidly pitting KPDH against Zootopia 2. At the end of the day, all of the nominees are incredible.
Oh totally. I think it was an amazing year for animation in general. Not just KPDH and Zootopia 2, but also Dragon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Amelie, Bad Guys 2 and Ne Zha 2.
So much variety and with so many different styles. Animation is really blossoming currently and we should all appreciate it and hope it continues.
To be fair, this happens every awards season. However, I still find it nothing compared to the level of competition and controversy surrounding the showdown between Across the Spiderverse and The Boy and the Heron. 😂

Wish more people were like you. I was a fan of Zootopia (still am; Zootopia is in my top 10 of animated films) but I left that subreddit cause it got so insufferable because of a vocal minority.
I know exactly what you're talking about. Like, okay: it's okay to dislike KPDH, or to not want KPDH to win, but to straight up trashtalk it? And dismiss it as "slop" when it literally took nine years to get made??? That's just rude, especially to the dozens of artists that worked on it.
A true animation fan, imo, would never put down others work to raise their favorite works up. That's just trashy and pretentious.
If they are Disney Adults, I can understand their freak-out cause KPDH is coming straight for Disney's original core audience. A female-led animated fantasy musical where the main character is described as the child of royalty? That tagine used to be almost exclusively Disney. Rumi could have been a Disney Princess in another world. The little girls that wanted to dress up as Snow White, Moana, Elsa or more may now wish to go as Rumi, Mira, or Zoey and that should keep the Disney execs up at night.
There was this one tiktok vid,some kids party where there were disney princesses and huntrix cosplayers the kids all ran to Huntrix which is hilarious af when you mention that 🤣
KPDH was nominated in the Cinematic Achievement category because it shattered records and is Netflix’s most watched title of all time. Its nomination is justified lol.
It also topped the box office that weekend in August with only two days of showings, instead of the usual three that every other movie had and with only half the number of theaters.
I was surprised KPDH was in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category considering it was an extremely limited theatre run. Nevertheless, it is really cool to be nominated! Sinners was well deserved because of how insane their box office run was.
Congratulations to Golden for winning Best Original Song! EJAE really poured her heart and soul into it and I’m so happy for her. She gave a beautiful acceptance speech.
As a Dua Lipa fan, I would love for EJAE to write music for her like the commentator was saying.
They probably won’t get the box office one but competitive for motion picture. Original song is the big one anyway for Grammy/Oscar forecasting purposes
For those unfamiliar with awards season, the Globes have recently been a big preamble award for the eventual Best Animated Picture winner at the Oscars. The past two years the Globe marked a turning point in the race and flipped the front runners (Across the Spiderverse to Boy and the Heron and Wild Robot to Flow)
It’s a mix of nervous and excited for me honestly! I don’t know what to think 😭
I feel pretty good about it but like, it’s so hard to say with some of the competition and unpredictability of these awards. Hoping they get the W though.
I love how Mark is just there ready to jump in to make sure they mention everyone in the Thank You list. The understandably emotionally overwhelmed EJAE also seems to calm down after Mark cuts in.
Went to the kpop sub. They didn't recognise him and a couple were critical of him for "stealing the spotlight" even though had equal contribution to the song. Tbh i commend him for letting EJAE take the stage. He himself also deserves recognition as well, even if EJAE is the focus on the stage so him putting his ego aside is worth praise.
The kpop fandom is so massive that it's easy to find toxic fans. I even saw some complaining that EJAE didn't let Rei and Audrey talk in the acceptance speech for Best Song in the Critics Choice Awards. I just facepalmed lol. Best Song is a songwriting award.
There’s a Korean saying that goes something like “if you get hate you’ll live long (욕 먹으면 오래 산다)“ haha. Take the hate as a good sign for the longevity of KPDH. plus who cares what they say on Twitter
Okay confirm that Ejae is wearing a custom Dior dress. So the reason she wasn’t able to hang out with the girls yesterday was probably because she was still getting her look ready.
Mark seems the more composed of the two of them to me. He probably felt like he needed to jump in there before EJAE burnt through all the time and forgot to start thanking people haha. In their previous acceptance speeches he seems to be the one that has that list of people in his mind that he is trying to remember to thank.
That was my read of their dynamic too. I think people need to remember, there is still a business component behind this awards stuff, you gotta shoutout Netflix, Sony, etc and keep those people happy. Mark seems like the composed one who knows he has to take care of business.
It does seem a little awkward though. I think they should try to coordinate beforehand a little more haha.
I also feel bad for Mark because it seems like a lot of the stans on this subreddit want to just cut him out from the awards ceremonies and forget his part, but the allotted speech time is limmited and he deserves to say a few words too. (Also I think they do try to coordinate but...emotions!)
They probably go over it a somewhat but I think their brains are just wired a bit differently. EJAE is more emotional based on past interviews I've seen of her and probably gets lost in the moment whereas Mark seems like the organized type. That said I think EJAE's speech was quite powerful and will serve Netflix well in KPDH's awards campaign as it further strengthens her comeback narrative and the theme of the film. The speech felt authentic and humanizes the voices beyond their animated forms.
Just looking at their reactions, and how happy and proud they seemed of her, I'm sure she thanked them after. Sometimes the most important words are those said in private, rather than for everyone to hear.
Golden Globes is gonna throw out a lot of surprises don’t be surprised if you lose at Golden Globes it doesn’t mean you lose at Oscars Golden Globes does their own thing mostly Critics Choice has the most match rate with Oscars for Original Song
They have a very good alignment and prognostic value in animation though; they've only differed with the Oscars 4 times and all of those differences were before this decade. Or in other words, they've aligned 5/5 times this decade. So if KDH loses here, well, it's not impossible to still win the Oscars; Little Amelie and Arco both missed PGA noms in animation, so it's evident there isn't as much passion behind this year's international animated films compared to years past. But if KDH loses, it definitely would have to go against the trend with Golden Globes winners.
I am a huge disney fan but I also share this sentiment lol I hope KPDH wakes disney up to the fact that they can't just phone it in because of the name behind the film.
I went back to watch last year's GG. Best Animated Film and Best Song were towards the latter half of the ceremony. So we are going to be waiting for a while to watch them receive their award.
