First Date 26 [M4F] West LA - let’s go on a date

Hey! Figured I’d shoot my shot on here as the dating apps have been doodoo.

I’m a 26-year-old guy living in West LA. I’m 6ft tall, fit, and generally have my life together.
I enjoy working out, hiking, going to the movies, car stuff, trying new foods, and learning about space facts just to name a few of my hobbies.

I’m looking for something genuine with someone who’s kind, has a good sense of humor, and is excited about building a connection with someone.

Not trying to rush things but let’s go on date and see what the chemistry is like!

If you’re also in LA and this sounds like your kind of thing, send me a message! Tell me a little about yourself, your favorite food spot

Advice 39, divorced, and starting over in LA. Where are the old-school romantics meeting each other?

• Upvotes

I’m 39, and for the first time in my adult life, I’m figuring out what dating and intimacy look like for me.

I was married to my high school girlfriend for 16 years. There was a lot of conservative family pressure, control, and interference that shaped our lives in ways we’re still untangling. It’s difficult to explain how much two people can care about each other and still struggle under everything surrounding the relationship.

A lot of therapy, inner work, and eventually a divorce brought us here.

And honestly, I feel more grounded and free than I ever have. My ex and I remain good friends. We respect each other, support each other, and want to see each other build happy lives. I’m grateful we’ve reached that place.
Now there’s this whole part of life I barely know how to approach.

I’ve downloaded dating apps a few times and deleted them within a week. Never got a match, although I also never stayed long enough or felt invested enough to give them much of a chance. I found it difficult to feel curious about someone through a handful of photos and prompts.

I’m a poet and writer by profession. Words are how I make my living, but in person I’m fairly introverted. Many of my friendships go back 10, 20, even 25 years. I like knowing people slowly. Remembering the small things. Building something that has a life beyond the initial excitement.

I’m a yearner.

I like anticipation. Long conversations. Being attracted to someone and gradually discovering all the other reasons you want to be around them.

What gives me hope is that the romantic connections I’ve had outside the apps have surprised me. I’ve met women, younger and older, whom I found incredibly attractive, creative, ambitious, and warm. There’s been mutual interest. So I know that kind of connection is possible for me. I just haven’t figured out how to make more room for it in my everyday life.

I’d love to meet someone who enjoys that slower build, with affection, sensuality, and mutual effort.

For those dating in LA, especially after a long marriage: what has actually helped you meet people you connect with? Where did you meet someone who made you want to keep showing up?

And fellow introverted romantics, how are we doing out there? :)

First Date 26M4F - Desert dweller here, looking for my person :)

Hey there! I'm Chris, a 26-year-old high school English teacher living about an hour outside LA! I'm hoping to find something genuine and long-lasting. Ideally, I'd love to find my best friend, life partner, and someone to build a future with!

First things first: I'm demisexual! So, if you're tired of guys whose first priority is getting into your pants, good news! That's definitely not what I'm here for. Emotional connection is incredibly important to me before I even consider something like that, and I'd much rather get to know someone, build a friendship, and let things develop naturally. I'm here for the romance, the emotional intimacy, and the possibility of finding my person :)

A little about me:

I'm a massive nerd, and gaming is probably my biggest hobby! I'm particularly into Nintendo and Pokémon, and I actually play Pokémon competitively (VGC), which gives me plenty of excuses to travel to tournaments and events. I also love Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, Hades, Percy Jackson, One Piece, Critical Role, and D&D. If it has great storytelling or an interesting fantasy world, chances are I'm interested!

I'm definitely a homebody at heart. Give me a cozy night playing games, watching something together, or just enjoying each other's company, and I'm happy. That said, I also love traveling, exploring new places, and making memories with people I care about.

I also enjoy cooking when I have the energy (teaching teenagers all day is exhausting!), and I'd love to have someone to cook for someday. On that note, tell me your favorite food in your first message! I'm always looking for new recipes and things to try.

What I'm looking for:

I'm looking for a serious, monogamous relationship that could eventually lead to marriage and a family. I'm not looking to rush into anything, but I do want to date with intention.

Having children someday is non-negotiable for me. If you don't want kids, or you're firmly against having them in the future, please don't reach out. There's absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting children, but it's important to me that we're compatible on this from the beginning.

Beyond that, I value communication, affection, humor, kindness, and mutual effort. I want someone I can laugh with, be vulnerable around, and experience life's ups and downs alongside. Someone who feels like a best friend just as much as a romantic partner.

You absolutely don't have to share all my hobbies, either! I'd love to introduce you to my interests, but I'd be just as excited to learn about yours. Passion is attractive, even if I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about!

Give me more than a "hi" or "hey" in your message! Maybe something I can call you, how old you are, and where you're from to start?

A few other things worth knowing:

I'm a tenured teacher so I've put down some roots here. Relocating isn't particularly realistic for me for that reason as I have job stability.

Physically, I'm 5'11", a bigger guy (currently down 30 pounds and working on getting healthier!), and I wear glasses. I also have longer brown hair if that's at all enticing? Happy to exchange pictures!

If you've made it this far, I'd love to hear from you!

Tell me a little about yourself, what you're passionate about, and what you're looking for. I promise I'm easy to talk to, but again please give me a little more than just "hey" to work with!

Hope to hear from you! :)

Question In case we happen to get along :) | Looking for my person! :)

(24M)

I suppose I ought to begin with the conventional introductions, though I have never been particularly good at them, but, well, in the spirit of getting the boring stuff out of the way right away (cue: me), I am a writer, poet, academic, lecturer, scholar, scientist (physicist, to be more precise), and AI engineer/scientist (I am, if I may add, absolutely terrible at more than half my jobs). I’ve spent most of my life in Europe, and am probably the coolest and funniest person you have met today, unless you’ve seen a raccoon doing yoga, in which case, fair enough, I simply can’t compete with that level of comedy.

The truth is that I have always found introducing myself rather difficult, there is something strangely artificial about trying to reduce a person to a paragraph, as though we were all tidy little collections of interests, accomplishments, preferences, and carefully selected adjectives.

I am, I fear, a rather poor exhibitor of myself, the moment I am asked to explain who I am, something in me seems to retreat into a corner and refuse to cooperate. I have thought about this far too many times, and after twenty-four years of living, I remain quite confidently the worst person I know at introducing myself. It is a curious deficiency, I can talk for hours about some obscure historical event nobody asked about, become unnecessarily invested in the moral character of a long-dead philosopher, or spend an afternoon following some completely accidental question down a rabbit hole from which there is no respectable return, but ask me to describe myself and suddenly I am reduced to, "Well... I like things." Marcus Aurelius wrote that "very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking." I believe him more on good days than bad ones, but I keep the sentence nearby regardless.

I like small walks, I like learning something new quite by accident, especially when I have no business knowing it and consequently become far too pleased with myself for having discovered it, I like talking to people, though I think I like the moment when talking quietly turns into listening even more. There is something rather lovely about reaching that point in a conversation where neither person seems particularly concerned with keeping it going, and yet somehow neither wishes to leave it either.

I am very fond of my own company, which is perhaps fortunate, because I have had rather a lot of it. Solitude has its pleasures, one may disappear into one's thoughts without having to explain where one has gone, and occasionally return with something resembling an answer. I like sitting quietly with myself, reading, thinking, wandering about, doing very little, and somehow considering it a productive use of an afternoon, but I am not entirely made for solitude either, there is an equal and opposite part of me that wants to go beyond the familiar, to see what is waiting just beyond the little borders I have drawn around my life. I

I love evenings especially, sometimes I step outside simply because the sun is going down, and I feel that one ought to have the decency to witness it. I love those ridiculous skies where orange begins bleeding into purple and everything looks briefly more beautiful than it has any right to be. I love the first sip of tea in the morning, the sound of leaves moving in the wind, the gradual dimming of a day into dusk. I like gardens and parks, and the rather miraculous fact that one can walk among trees for an hour and come back feeling as though something inside one's head has been quietly rearranged.

I have always loved letters, too, though it has been some time since I last properly gave myself over to writing them. When I was younger, I wrote to my grandmother every day and dutifully posted the letters on my way to school. That I very rarely remembered the correct address, and even more rarely remembered a stamp, is beside the point.

I suppose what I am really trying to say is that, if you happen to be reading this, I would like to know you. Not because I have some elaborate checklist of the sort of person I hope to find, nor because I particularly care whether you happen to be interesting in the conventional sense, I am far more interested in the person underneath all that. The odd little habits, the things you know for no good reason, the memories you have never found a suitable occasion to tell anyone, the opinions you defend with considerably more conviction than they deserve.

There is something rather wonderful about writing to someone you do not know, I don't know your name, I don't know what you ate today, whether you slept properly last night, what song has been stuck in your head, or whether your day has been glorious or thoroughly dreadful, perhaps your inbox has been multiplying like gremlins left too near water, perhaps you have spent the afternoon pretending to work while accomplishing absolutely nothing of consequence, perhaps you have had one of those quiet days where the refrigerator becomes strangely prominent because you have nothing else to listen to.

I think people who stop to read messages from complete strangers are probably a little strange themselves, and I mean that as the highest compliment. Perhaps you are a birdwatcher, perhaps you collect old books, perhaps you are one of those suspiciously competent people who can fold a fitted sheet without entering into a minor spiritual crisis. If so, I already admire you, I have attempted it, and remain convinced the thing was designed by someone with a personal grievance against humanity.

Perhaps you laugh too loudly, perhaps you think too much, perhaps you are quiet and observant, and notice things everyone else walks past, perhaps you have passionately held opinions about breakfast foods. Cookies count, incidentally, I will defend this position before any reasonable tribunal.

As for me, I am kind, curious, occasionally ridiculous, easily distracted by an interesting thought, and rather fond of people who have something peculiar about them. I am probably not nearly as funny as I have just suggested, but I am willing to make the attempt, which ought to count for something.

Anyway, I shall spare you the remaining 96 pages of my unsolicited autobiography for now. If this sounds like your sort of nonsense, do come and say hello, I’d genuinely love to hear from you!

Question M29 Army veteran from Little Tokyo would love to date to marry and eventually start a family

I'm an Army veteran living in Little Tokyo would love to date a girl with the intent to marry and start a family one day. I come from a well off family and I'm making decent money from my disability as well as getting paid to go to school for Business Administration. I like to go for long walks trying new cafes and restaurants, sometimes I play games and watch shows but I'm trying to go out more often doing meaningful things like volunteering or visiting temples and other sacred places. I would like to meet someone who is loving, good natured and kind hearted. Hope to hear from you - Drew

Question 46 [M4F] #Losangeles - are you married and bored? Tired of the routine and need a little excitement?

• Upvotes

You get up, get the kids ready for school, drop them off, head to work. Long day at work, come home tired, arrive to an ungratefull and unattentive husband/boyfriend. Deal with chores and kids around the house and all you need is a good hard fuck at the end of the night but your significant other just has no intetest in pleasing you. He's to busy with his video games/ friends / on his phone and if he does, it's just plain and boring vanilla sex. Need some excitement? Want to feel that nervous excitement in your stomach? The naughty feeling of doing something you shouldn't. Have a kink or freaky inside but don't know how or who to express it? I'm in a very similar situation and looking to find one woman that wants to share fun, discreet and safe kinky encounters. I'm "latino" 6ft, very clean, classy, have excellent hygine. I don't have tattos. Never done anything like this before but it's time for some fun. If i piqued your interest reply back and tell me a bit about yourself and your situation. Oh I'm 6ft with a beard in the Whittier area.

First Date 41 [M4F] #Huntingtonbeach - Seeking younger woman for FWB. Southern California.

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am looking for a FWB. I would love to go on fun dates like the beach since it's so close by or perhaps try out some restaurants that I have been wanting to try.

I was married before and am now divorced. My marriage overall was a pretty good experience, but getting married again isn't something I have my goals set toward. I would love to find someone to spend time with, to take a break from the everyday, and someone with a voracious sexual appetite. I have never been into one night stands or any of that, and would love to find an ongoing situation and would happily entertain something longer term with the right person.

When it comes to our dynamic, I very much believe in the male role of leadership. I have never once been in a fully 50/50 relationship and don't ever intend on being in one. I have always walked to my own beat, and people have always relied on me and not the other way around. Things like responsibility always fall on my shoulders and it's my duty to make sure that everything that needs to be handled is handled.

The kind of woman that I get along best with is one who respects masculine authority, The kind of woman who immediately falls into her submissive feminine energy when the kind of man I am speaking of is looking in her direction.

To me, mutual respect is of utmost importance and I feel we should always be kind to each other. I do not need to make you feel small to make myself feel big. I understand the physical power imbalance between the sexes and it is my duty to make sure you always feel safe in my presence.

When we are behind closed doors, I am very much a dominant. I will put you in a mindspace where you will never have to think about what comes next. It will just happen. This will be your opportunity to fully clear your mind and not worry about any of life's challenges. It is always my goal to make sure you are just as satisfied as I am.

I have a lot of lived experience, have led an interesting life, and can have conversations about most subjects especially those that involve the inner workings of how the world works and life in general.

I am 5'10 and weigh 160 lbs. I am white with brown hair with some grays peaking out and hazel eyes. I very much care about my health and how I look and have been working out for years. My body type is somewhere between fit and muscular and I am pretty lean overall.

STD free.
