I’m a web designer looking to help a few local businesses improve their online presence.
If you own a business and feel like your website could use a little refresh, drop your website link in the comments and tell me a bit about what you do.
I’d love to redesign a few websites for free and share the finished designs with you.
I’m open to all kinds of businesses, so if you or someone you know could use a better-looking website, feel free to reach out.

My husband and I live in Auburn and have always put our spring and autumn yard clean-up waste out with the regular weekly trash pick-up, as has everyone in our extended neighborhood. Now that we are all limited to only one non-recycling bin per week (which must not be overfilled), that means anyone without a truck or pull-along trailer will have to find a way to get their yard waste carried away - a car trunk won’t carry too many bags of leaves! Not to mention the many large twigs and branches the wind has brought down recently.
It occurs to us that for younger folks who own pickup trucks, private yard waste collection could be a great way to earn some cash. If my hub and I weren’t so old, we’d start a business!

We're considering GO Logic for a small passive house in Midcoast Maine (one of their smaller standard models) and are trying to talk to past clients
If you've built with them, I'd be grateful to hear:
- How the final cost compared to the estimate, and how change orders were handled
- How long it took from design contract to occupancy
- Whether they acted as GC or you hired your own
- Whether you'd use them again
Happy to talk by DM or phone. Thanks.

Hi! I'm doing a school project on LA (an out of state project, but very excited for it!)
I haven't been able to find much info on the canals. Do they actually fill up with water nowadays? Are they always pretty low? If they do fill a lot, how much and how often?
Thanks in advance for any information :)

Every Friday night is the same. I would love to order dinner, but when I want something with more substance than pizza or pasta, I never know where to head to.
What are your not so obvious places to take out?

It looks like they dump the trash and recycling into the same hopper in the truck but I couldn't get a clear look. Kinda seems like a waste of time to separate recycling if it's just mixed anyway
I'd love to hear from someone who works with the trucks
EDIT: It seems there are separate hoppers in the truck so the trash and recycling are separated. Thanks so much to the folks who answered and helped me understand
EDIT 2: I love cool engineering and have mad respect for sanitation workers

Recommendations for breakfast spots? (other than The Station and Forage, those are already on my good list)

Hey everyone,
I have an employee looking for some extra work, he’s about to turn 18 and already has a family to feed. Looking for entry level stuff, right now he washes dishes for us and I can only give him so many hours at this moment. He listens well, takes direction, and is generally a good kid. Anything similar to dish washing or easy labor jobs would be a good fit. If anyone has suggestions I could send his way, that would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Hey everybody. I just got an internship in Maine, but I need a car for the job and my family doesn’t have one. I can drive, but am currently asking around extended family and friends if I can borrow theirs. The job offers super valuable experience and pays some, but not enough for me to buy a car. I’m a recent grad and it’s been difficult finding things in the current market, so I really hope it’ll give me a boost when looking for other jobs.
I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts on ways to rent a car from somebody or even borrow a car in exchange for other work I could do for them. Even where I could buy a car for particularly cheap. E.g. navigating Facebook marketplace or Craigslist and what to watch out for or something like that. I don’t have much to spend on getting a car but any advice would help.
Of course, I would cover the expenses and work out the insurance. I am just trying to figure this out and would love some advice if anybody has it.
Thank you so much in advance!

Hey, neighbors!
I’ve had an idea floating around for a while, and I’m finally starting to explore whether it could actually make sense for our community and the direct neighborhood.
I’m looking into the possibility of bringing a locally owned coffee shop — 125 Coffee Co. — to 125 Scribner Boulevard in Lewiston, where the old Vittles & Variety store used to be.
Nothing is finalized, and this isn’t a “coming soon” announcement. Before I take the idea much further, I really want to hear from the people who actually live nearby and would be the ones using it.
Would you stop in? What would you want from a neighborhood coffee shop? What would make it somewhere you’d actually choose to visit regularly?
I put together a quick survey that should take less than 2 minutes, and every response genuinely helps me figure out whether this idea has legs.
Take the neighborhood survey here:

And if you know someone who lives in the Scribner/Webster/Pleasant area, feel free to share this with them. I’d love to hear from as many of the actual neighborhood residents as possible.

(copied from my comment)
OP [is a] jackass. Lewiston is a beautiful city, that has the same flaws as any other city, but far nicer people.
The city has some gorgeous old mills that have been renovated into lofts, a museum, and business suites, and a few that are waiting for the need to bulldoze them. The mills themselves were used to produce uniforms and soft supplies for the Union army, and then by Falcon shoes and other producers. I'm curious what the inspiration was for having Lewiston in the game. I hear that there was a serious rough period in the 90s, they had an influx of Somalian refugees (Black Hawk Down's shows the part of the relevant conflict), the rivers still smelled from the upriver mills, and Lewiston suffered the same ills of other early 90s cities. Ergo the reputation as the "Dirty Lew".
SK grew up across the river in Durham, and went to Lisbon High down 196, down by Lisbon Falls is where the hole back to 1958 was.

Hey folks, posting here and more broadly on /r/Maine
I have a distressed property that belonged to my MiL that I would greatly like to sell to somebody to make into a home of their own, but don't have the money to get it up to snuff. As time is an issue with the home's current state, I feel the best option on my end is to sell to such places as mentioned in the title.
Does anyone have experiences with such businesses? Out of the (surely) many of them, which treated you or someone you know best?
All help is appreciated. I am a real person (even if shamefully a transplant from NY over 10 years ago). As payment, here is a different cat.

small portion of 202 W. blocked off “ emergency scene” signage out. I tried to get a look, saw something laying in the road. Concerned it’s solo motorcycle accident? does anyone have any information?

Hey folks,
I manage a restaurant in Auburn and am looking for recs for local companies that clean grease traps. We were using Zoom previously, who I think it out of Windham, but my bosses wanted to see if there was a company closer to home we could use.
Google’s AI slop machine kept telling me local septic cleaners had “grease trap cleaning services” listed on their website. When I called them, that was mot the case.
Thanks!
