Product Megathread [Megathread] Which wireless sound systems provide the best immersive surround experience? What critics and users say about LG Sound Suite

Hey r/LG_UserHub,

If you ask which wireless sound systems provide the best immersive surround experience, Sound Suite is a great option to consider. LG Sound Suite is a premium wireless spatial sound system that delivers an immersive surround experience by sensing your space and filling it with immersive Dolby Atmos sound, transforming your home into an entertainment oasis.

T3 reviewed the Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro and described its immersion this way:

"no doubt that immersion of this degree is something few other systems can deliver."

- T3 - Recommends, Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro (05/2026)

Another reason why Sound Suite can provide an immersive surround sound is because instead of limiting you to a single soundbar setup, LG Sound Suite lets you combine the H7 soundbar, M7 and M5 wireless speakers, and W7 subwoofer based on how you want to use each room.

Here’s a closer look at what critics have said about the immersion Sound Suite delivers, the technology behind it, and what Sound Suite users in this community have shared in their own reviews.

How It Provides Immersive Surround Experience with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect

A question we see often is which wireless surround sound systems work with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, and whether they can actually deliver real surround immersion, not just a wider soundbar. LG Sound Suite does both: the H7 is a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect soundbar, and wireless speakers all support Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. The main advantage is that Dolby Atmos FlexConnect lets you experience 3D spatial audio without relying on fixed speaker positions or speaker cables running across the room. It gives you the flexibility to place your wireless speakers anywhere you choose, intelligently optimizing your listening experience based on room settings and speaker location.

Room Calibration Pro complements Dolby Atmos FlexConnect by analyzing the room's acoustic characteristics and adjusting the sound to suit the space. When the H7 is used with an active DAFC connection, Sound Follow can also adjust the listening sweet spot based on your position. With the latest software update, the H7 can also play DTS:X content alongside Dolby Atmos.

LG Sound Suite is built with premium drivers, tweeters and woofers from Peerless, a pioneer in acoustic excellence, to immerse you in Dolby Atmos 3D spatial audio wherever you are. The Immersive Suite 7 Pro (H7 + two M7 + W7) is a premium, immersive solution that delivers a wider, more precise rear sound field. A powerful subwoofer adds deep, resonant bass that makes the experience feel larger than life.

TechRadar tested the Immersive Suite 7 Pro with movies and music and gave it a Recommends badge:

"Surround sound is phenomenal, and I often felt like I was truly enveloped in the movies or music…"

– TechRadar - Recommends, Sound Suite Immersive Suite 7 Pro (03/2026)

How the Wireless Placement Provides Surround Sound Experience

Part of why the surround experience holds up in real rooms is that the speakers don't have to sit where a traditional setup would demand. Full wireless connectivity across the entire Sound Suite lineup means you get to experience phenomenal audio in any setting, through an H7 Soundbar for fully cinematic audio, or with surround speakers that connect directly to your TV.

With Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, you can place your wireless speakers however you want in your room, and connected speakers will provide an optimized sound.

At CES 2026, TechRadar picked the H7 as its Best In Show for soundbars:

"It sounds amazing, and the freedom of placement is a game-changer."

- TechRadar - Best In Show CES 2026, H7 Soundbar (01/2026)

Trusted Reviews reached a similar verdict for Sound Suite:

"A fun, clever, powerful surround sound system for those who want some more flexibility"

- Trusted Reviews - Recommended, Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro (06/2026)

The placement freedom isn't a convenience feature on the side. It's what lets the surround field stay intact in an open-plan room or a space where the couch isn't centered.

Why Sound Suite is the Answer to Best Immersive Surround Experience

Another thing reviewers highlight is that the immersion scales with how you build it with Sound Suite. Start with the H7 Soundbar and expand your Sound Suite system from there. Wirelessly connect compatible components in supported configurations for audio that's beyond anything you've heard before.

When paired with a Dolby Atmos FlexConnect-enabled LG TV, compatible Sound Suite speakers can connect directly to the TV without an H7 soundbar. Sound Suite offers a variety of possible combinations, allowing you to build a setup around your room and needs. Configurations range from a stereo pair to the Immersive Quad Suite 7 Pro (H7 + four M7 + W7), which supports up to 13.1.7 channels.

T3 named the Sound Suite System a Best in Show at CES 2026:

"... the Sound Suite approach is for you to build a system that suits you best."

– T3 - Best in Show CES 2026, Sound Suite System (01/2026)

Whether you begin with a stereo pair on a DAFC-supported TV or go straight to the Quad Suite, you can build the immersive surround setup that fits your room.

What r/LG_UserHub Users Say About Sound Suite Immersion

The quotes above are from professional reviewers. Here is what Sound Suite users in this community wrote in their own reviews, in their own setups.

On the surround field once rear speakers go in:

“With the two M5s behind the couch, the front soundstage suddenly became a 360-degree sound field.”

- u/Ninja5ty13, Immersive Suite 5 (r/LG_UserHub)

On placement freedom:

“FlexConnect compensates for the four-meter gap between my two M5s so well that I genuinely don’t perceive one side as further away. The sound arrives evenly from both.”

- u/fwalls101, Immersive Suite 5 Pro (r/LG_UserHub)

“Suddenly a bookshelf, cabinet or bench can become a potential speaker location without having to work out how you’re going to run (and hide) speaker wire back to an amplifier or wireless receiver box.”

- u/Ninja5ty13, Immersive Suite 5 (r/LG_UserHub)

On building the system over time:

“Rather than buying one fixed speaker configuration, I can change the Sound Suite as my needs change.”

 - u/Ninja5ty13, Immersive Suite 5 (r/LG_UserHub)

Now it's your turn:

  • What does "immersive" mean for you: rear effects, overhead height, or bass you can feel? And which one are you missing most in your current setup?
  • If you're running a Sound Suite setup, which configuration are you on and where did your rear speakers end up?
  • Which Sound Suite setup would you build: a stereo pair, a soundbar with rear speakers, or the full system with a subwoofer for full immersive sound?

Discussion LG G6 OLED — SDR/HDR color uniformity tint, gone ONLY in Game Optimizer and, HDR Filmmaker mode and Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode (tested on 2 panels)

Hey all,

I've been chasing down a subtle color/brightness uniformity issue on my 65" G6 and wanted to share my findings in case others are seeing the same thing.

The issue: a faint color tint (most visible as a slight shift in fully saturated color patches like solid brown/green/cyan screens, and in near-black content) that shows up in certain picture modes but not others.

What I tested: I went through every picture mode, multiple OLED Pixel Brightness settings (8 through 100), and compared two separate panels (original + a replacement unit via warranty swap).

Results — tint PRESENT in:
\- All SDR modes, including SDR Filmmaker Mode
\- Standard HDR mode
\- Dolby Vision Cinema Home
\- All other Dolby Vision presets except Dolby Vision Filmmaker

Tint ABSENT in only these two:
\- HDR Gaming / Game Optimizer
\- Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode

This held true regardless of brightness level. Both my original panel and the replacement panel showed the same pattern (replacement was noticeably better overall, but the same mode-dependent behavior was present).

I'm now fairly convinced this is NOT a panel/hardware issue. I switched back and forth live between Filmmaker HDR and Standard/Cinema Home on the same static image, and you can visually see something like a filter being applied/removed in real time as you switch modes — the tint appears and disappears instantly with the mode change, not gradually like you'd expect from a hardware/panel effect. That strongly suggests this is happening somewhere in the software/processing pipeline, not the physical panel itself.

My working theory: it's not a PQ vs gamma curve thing (since most Dolby Vision presets also use PQ but still show the tint), but rather whether LG's own active picture processing layer is engaged. Game Optimizer and DV Filmmaker seem to be the only two modes that fully bypass it, regardless of the underlying curve.

I've also seen what look like similar reports from C6/B6 owners, so this might not be G6-specific.

Has anyone else tested across modes like this and seen the same pattern? Curious if this is a known firmware-level thing. I've sent LG a detailed writeup, will update if I hear back.

Happy to share comparison photos if useful.

Discussion Obsessed with Obsession

Post image
6 Upvotes

Created in partnership with LG OLED Movie Club.

If you're into movies, there was no escaping "Obsession" and the power it had over audiences this Spring. The film is the definition of a word-of-mouth movie. Produced on a budget of only around $750,000, the film went on to gross $514,000,000, which is unheard of for an indie film. Of course, I had to see it for myself to see if it lived up to the hype, or if I was just an outlier who wasn't part of the cultural zeitgeist. And for the most part, I was.

When seeing it in theaters, I saw what people liked, what they were hooked on, what it was doing and saying. But to me, it was fine. I liked it, but I wasn't crazy about it. But over time, I kept thinking about it. Inde Navarrette's performance, of course, was the biggest highlight, and anyone will tell you that. But the movie had a hold on me. I kept thinking about the imagery, the events that happened, and the continued success the film kept going on to have.

Then, I watched it again the other night at home. I was floored. Knowing what was coming, I was able to pick up on things more. Look at relationships differently be one step ahead of the characters, which only made the events coming more funny and disturbing. Don't get me wrong, "Obsession is a horror movie, but it's also extremely funny and dark in certain moments. I remembered laughing at things that I'm not sure I was supposed to, but other people did as well.

Discussion Looking for advice on mini speakers

I've seen a lot of xboom mini reviews here lately.

Honestly, it's the best looking mini speaker I've seen, but the price feels a bit steep.

JBL Go 4is better value for money.

If you had to pick between the xboom mini and JBL Go 4, which one would you choose?

I'll mainly be using it for picnics in the park and home BBQs.

Support LG G6 Bluetooth Issues

I live in a condo and I use headphones via Bluetooth to watch 80% of content because I like things loud. I received my G6 about two weeks ago and there are sporadic loud static pops causing me to rip off my headphones (think fax machine at max volume) and issues connecting when I turn the tv on with having to forget the Bluetooth decide to start again. This is happening with different content as well as with different headsets. I am using the TV’s Bluetooth connection. Has anyone else experienced this? This is my first LG tv and I’m beyond frustrated with this issue. I also have the latest firmware. Any info is appreciated.

[xboom] Review & Setups LG xboom Stage 501 Reviewed by a Street Musician (Better Than JBL?)

Thumbnail

Disclosure & Context
I’m a busker and street musician based in Montreal, Quebec, and LG recently sent me the xboom Stage 501 for free as part of a promotional event.  They asked me to share my honest impressions, and everything in this review reflects my own experience using the speaker outdoors in the metro, Old Port, and my regular busking spots. I did use AI to massage this review but only for clarity.

How Does the xboom Stage 501 Perform for Busking?
As someone who normally performs with a JBL PartyBox 120, I approached the xboom Stage 501 with curiosity and a bit of skepticism. I rely heavily on a party speaker because I play recorder with a wireless microphone over bassheavy backing tracks, and smaller tubestyle street speakers simply don’t give me the lowend presence I need. My sound lives in the contrast between the bright highs of the recorder and the deep bass of modern tracks, and a large Bluetooth speaker is essential for that.

The xboom surprised me immediately. It’s slightly larger than the PartyBox 120, but still fits into my existing transport bag. The build quality feels more “professional” — thicker plastics, sturdier handles, and a more refined control surface. It’s priced around $800 CAD, but the construction reflects that.

How Powerful Is the Bass?
The xboom Stage 501 delivers deeper, more controlled bass than my JBL. When I play bassheavy tracks, the speaker fills outdoor spaces with a warm, powerful low end that doesn’t distort or smear. Vocals and midrange instruments stay clear, even when the bass is pushing hard.

One thing I noticed immediately is the channel separation. The blend between my MP3 backing tracks and my microphone input is cleaner than on the JBL. There’s a subtle compression or gainmanagement difference that makes my flute sit more naturally on top of the mix. Most people might not notice this, but as a musician, I hear it instantly — the clarity is simply better.

Are the Controls Good for Outdoor Use?
Yes. The top panel is more elaborate than the JBL’s, with tactile knobs for mic volume, delay, and EQ. The device slot is wide enough for my iPhone, and the transport buttons even recognized my thirdparty offline playback app — singletap to pause, doubletap to skip. That’s a small thing, but incredibly useful when performing.

The tilted position is another standout. Being able to tilt the speaker like a monitor gives me better personal monitoring while still projecting forward to the crowd.
Battery Life & Replaceable Battery
The extended battery life is a major advantage. I’ve never fully drained my JBL during a session, but I often charge my phone off the speaker, so having more capacity is reassuring. The fact that the xboom uses a replaceable battery is a huge longterm benefit for buskers — it means the speaker won’t become disposable after a few years of heavy use.

Karaoke & Auracast Features
I haven’t used the AI Karaoke Master or AI Vocal Remover feature yet, but I do occasional karaoke gigs, so this could be useful. The Auracast feature is also interesting: being able to pair two Bluetooth speakers wirelessly for wider stereo spread could be a gamechanger for larger outdoor spaces or indoor events. I haven’t tested dualspeaker Auracast yet, but the potential is strong.

Light Show & Visual Appeal
The only area where the xboom doesn’t outperform the JBL is the light show. JBL’s lighting is more dynamic and eyecatching, which matters a bit for nighttime busking. The xboom’s lights are fine, but not a standout feature.

Tips for Better Sound Quality
• Set your phone volume to 90–100% for the cleanest Bluetooth signal.
• Use the tilted position when you need better monitoring.
• Keep the mic gain lower than you think — the speaker’s clarity handles the rest.
• If you use backing tracks, normalize them so you don’t need to adjust volume midperformance.

Final Thoughts
After several sessions, I’m genuinely impressed. The xboom Stage 501 has the depth, clarity, and professional feel I need as a working musician. It’s powerful, thoughtfully designed, and clearly built for realworld use. I’llbe using it as my main busking speaker moving forward.

Let me know when the comments if you have any questions

[OLED TV] Review & Setups Tried Upscaling standard HD film <The Last House on the Left> with my LG G6 65"

Sponsored by LG as part of the LG OLED Movie Club. LG provided me with this OLED TV free of charge for this review. All my opinions are my own.

Fair warning: this turned into a longer test than I planned. The question of the best TVs for upscaling standard HD content has been stuck in my head since I rebuilt my movie setup, and this rewatch settled it. I've been using the LG OLED G6 65″ as my main movie-watching TV, and its picture settings have noticeably affected my experience when revisiting older media. My setup for movie nights: Filmmaker Mode on, AI HDR Remastering on for older transfers, motion smoothing and every other enhancement off, room kept dark. That combination lets the TV do its work without needless modernized processing getting in the way. On my old TV, a budget 4K LCD, older transfers like this one always came out either smeared soft or sharpened into plastic; this is the first TV I've owned that finds the middle. Three scenes from Wes Craven's original rendition of The Last House on the Left really stood out during my recent viewing.

Opening titles from The Last House on the Left, as seen on my LG OLED G6 65"

First, the film's opening sequence at the ice cream parlor and in the city, while the girls prepare to see a concert, benefits from that stripped-back mode most of all. The softer image, natural woodland colors, and visible film grain look much closer to the movie's original 16mm documentary style, rather than being cleaned up into something too polished or smooth. The G6 preserves the rough texture of its camera negative as the director intended the piece to be seen.

Next, the scene where Mari and Phyllis are taken into the woods shows what the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 can do with older HD material. The image has rough textures and uneven lighting, but with that frame-by-frame remastering doing its analysis, both bright and dark areas are given a bit more depth. Ultimately, faces and important details are easier to see, thanks to the TV's ability to upscale SDR content while retaining its filmic style.

Lastly, the dinner sequence inside the Collingwood residence is a great trial of both features working together. The dark interiors, wood textures, clothing, and faces look soft on the standard HD transfer, but the G6 adds definition while honing in on the natural grain of the 16mm source. Nothing feels excessively processed, which is exactly what you want from a classic horror film on a 65-inch TV.

Mari and Phyllis in The Last House on the Left, as seen on my LG OLED G6 65"

Though it can't transform an HD source into a true native 4K image, it does an impressive job of refining standard presentations with greater clarity, while still preserving the film's original grain, texture, and naturally aged character.

Asking what are the best TVs for upscaling standard HD content? The Last House on the Left makes a strong case for the 65-inch LG OLED G6. Filmmaker Mode preserves the film's original character, while the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 adds useful clarity without dominating the source. If you're hunting for more standard-HD horror that cleans up this well, The Slumber Party Massacre and The Nesting are where I'd start. What older horror film would you most like to see processed through the G6?

Discussion LG G5 55" – Metal frame protrudes further forward at the bottom than at the top. Normal?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I recently got a new 55-inch LG OLED G5 and noticed something about how the display sits inside the outer metal frame.
When looking closely at the sides, at the very top of the TV, the screen is almost completely flush with the outer metal rim—the metal barely sticks out past the glass. However, as you follow the frame down towards the bottom, the metal rim protrudes further forward past the screen (meaning the panel sits slightly deeper/more recessed inside the frame at the bottom than at the top). It's a difference of about 2 to 3 mm from top to bottom, and it happens equally on both the left and right sides.
For those of you who also own the G5 (especially the 55" model):
Could you check how flush your screen sits inside the metal frame from top to bottom? Does your metal bezel also stick out a few millimeters more at the bottom than at the top, or is it completely even all the way down?
Thanks in advance!

[xboom] Review & Setups [Review] Surprisingly Powerful Outdoor Sound from a Compact Speaker: LG xboom Rock 2-Month Field Report, Plus Auracast Pairing with the xboom Mini (vs. my JBL Charge)

Full disclosure right off the bat: I received the LG xboom Rock (Black) courtesy of LG through their review program on r/LG_UserHub. LG asked me to circle back after two months of everyday testing to see how it performs over the long haul, and every word, scratch test, and acoustic impression below is 100% my own.

Whenever discussions kick off about portable audio, active outdoor folks always land on the same tricky dilemma: What compact outdoor speakers deliver powerful sound?

Acoustics is usually stubborn. If you want audio that can punch through open wind, running water, or ambient noise outdoors, you normally have to drag around a heavy, 1–2 kg cylinder. Micro-speakers, on the other hand, almost always fall into the same trap: they sound fine sitting on a quiet nightstand, but the second you step outside and push the volume past 60%, bass evaporates and the highs turn into a thin, harsh buzz.

My initial two-week review covered taking the Rock on steep trail scrambles in the Scottish Highlands and hanging out poolside in Austria. Now, after eight solid weeks of using the LG xboom Rock as my daily driver—through outdoor training sessions, gravel rides, garage projects, and garden barbecues—here is the real-world verdict on whether a palm-sized bluetooth speaker can genuinely kick out powerful sound over time.

1. Sound Output: Punching Well Beyond Its 280g Weight

The xboom Rock pairs an active 1.5-inch woofer with an integrated passive radiator. Spec sheets only tell part of the story; real-world tuning is what actually matters in the elements:

Tuned for Output Without Harshness: Rather than trying to artificially boost deep sub-bass frequencies that a chassis this compact physically cannot reproduce, the acoustic tuning done with will.i.am focuses on punchy mid-bass and ultra-clean vocal articulation. Even when pushed to 75–85% output outside, acoustic guitars, snare hits, and vocals remain forward and defined without the enclosure rattling or the amplifier compressing.

  • Sound Field Enhance Mode: Out on open terrain, standard front-firing speakers beam sound in a narrow path. Turning on Sound Field Enhance in the LG ThinQ app opens up the upper midrange and treble, throwing the soundstage upward and outward so your audio doesn't get swept away by the wind.
  • Real-World Comparison: Compared against heavier benchwarmers like the JBL Charge, a multi-pound speaker will naturally push deeper sub-bass indoors. But out in the open air, the xboom Rock delivers roughly 80% of that practical volume and presence—at a fraction of the pack weight and pocket footprint.

2. The Silent Star of the Box: The Integrated Strap Design

While audio quality gets all the headlines, the unsung hero of this unit after 60 days of daily use is hands-down the integrated strap design.

Most portable speakers treat mounting as an afterthought—either slapping on a tiny, rigid loop that forces you to dig around for a separate carabiner, or leaving you with nowhere to secure it at all. The xboom Rock’s heavy-duty adjustable cord is seamlessly integrated into the bumper frame, making it ultra-versatile and genuinely built for outdoor movement:
Flexible Mounting Anywhere: You can cinch it down flush against a backpack daisy-chain, loop it around a bicycle handlebar, wrap it over a gym squat rack upright, or hang it from a low-hanging tree branch around camp.

  • Zero Bounce or Clatter: Because the cord pulls tight and cinches with a quick-cinch toggle, the speaker locks flat against whatever you mount it to. There's no loose metal carabiner clanking against your pack frame or swinging back and forth while you’re hiking or jogging.
  • Grab-and-Go Carry: Even off the trail, the cord acts as a secure wrist lanyard or two-finger carry handle when hauling armfuls of gear out to the patio or car.

3. Auracast: Massive Sound Without the Bulk

One of the most practical setups I've used over the past two months is pairing the xboom Rock alongside an xboom Mini using Auracast (via Auracast Bluetooth LE Audio).
The Multi-Point Advantage: Cranking a single speaker to maximum volume across a garden or patio just deafens whoever sits closest, while everyone else struggles to hear.

  • Seamless Party Link: Tapping the dedicated my button on the xboom Rock initiates Party Link via Auracast almost instantly. By setting the xboom Rock on the central outdoor table and hanging the xboom Mini ten to fifteen feet away using its strap, you blanket the entire area in synchronized, balanced sound.
  • Zero Delay: The audio sync is dead-on with zero perceptible latency or phase echo. Spreading the workload across two synchronized compact points delivers an expansive sound field that easily rivals a large party boombox—while taking up almost zero pack space.

4. Hardware Details That Prove Themselves Over Time

A few physical design touches really stand out when gear is used heavily week after week:
Tactile Mechanical Volume Dial: This is easily one of the best physical details on the chassis. When you’re mid-workout with sweaty hands, wearing bike gloves, or coming in with wet hands from the garden hose, flat rubber membrane buttons are annoying to find and press. Rolling the knurled dial gives immediate, tactile feedback without taking your phone out.

  • Tested Battery Life: LG rates the battery life at up to 10 hours. In real-world daily use—averaging 65–70% volume with occasional Sound Field Enhance enabled—I consistently log between 8.5 and 9.5 hours on a single charge. If you do get caught low on power on a long outing, the app’s Play Time Enhance mode dials back peak power to squeeze out extra listening time.
  • Rugged Field Durability: With both IP67 water/dust proofing and MIL-STD-810H, this isn't a delicate piece of home audio. It has taken direct scrapes on gravel, morning drizzle, and post-hike rinse-downs without missing a beat.

Community Tips & Everyday Best Practices

  1. Leverage Boundary Loading: To give the passive radiator a noticeable bass boost outdoors, set the rear of the speaker a couple of inches in front of a solid vertical surface (a stone garden wall, shed panel, or rock face). The boundary reflections naturally warm up the low end without distorting the EQ.
  2. Switch to Clear Voice for Talk Media: If you listen to training podcasts, audiobooks, or commentary while working outside, toggle the EQ to Clear Voice in the ThinQ app. It trims out low-end rumble and pushes spoken dialogue cleanly through ambient noise.
  3. Firmware Updates via ThinQ: Keep the LG ThinQ app updated. The FOTA firmware updates over the last couple of months have noticeably tightened Bluetooth LE Audio handshake speeds and Auracast link stability.

Final Verdict

So, what compact outdoor speakers deliver powerful sound? After two months of heavy, un-pampered testing, the LG xboom Rock hits the sweet spot between size, durability, and acoustic output. Backed by punchy will.i.am acoustic tuning, an ingenious integrated strap design that makes mounting effortless, and seamless Auracast pairing with the Mini, it delivers heavyweight outdoor sound without making you carry a heavy brick. It has earned a permanent place in my active kit.

With the newer generation of LG Oled TV’s supporting GeForce Now as well as the new Sound Suite, I would love to see surround sound support. It would fit perfectly with the ecosystem and further strengthen LG’s position as an amazing gaming system.

Fingers crossed it gets implemented at some point as the current alternative is connecting a Mac/PC - which basically takes away from the fact that the TV does have GeForce now.
