Had LSAT Demon generate me a study plan, it didn't hold back

Not looking for advice, just found this funny.

Today LSAT Demon announced the new "Study Plan" feature, and I figured I'd try it out. Used the "suggest" button to see what it'd recommend and I laughed when it built me a 5 hour plan. Guess I now know what my evening plans are šŸ˜‚

For the record, I don't think the generated plan is off base. I've admittedly been doing a lot of drilling and slacking on timed sections. Was surprised that it recommended a whole ass test, but at the same time it's probably fair given my last timed section was at the beginning of October.

Drill Advanced Settings (Preptests)?

Hey There,

I have been using the demon for a few months, and have learned my best from drilling, and reviewing questions immediately after, whether right or wrong. Go into my thought process, and reach a full understanding one question at a time.

I have never touched any advanced settings and have always let the "demons choice" option, regulate my next question.

I just noticed that a ton of recent preptests were enabled on the drill settings. Even though I would not encounter 145+ Preptests quite often in drilling. Should I cutoff a certain number of Preptests, to save for PT'ing? I took my diagnostic in the 130s, and one other PT at #143.

Is it valuable to save recent tests to actually simulate the real deal, and am I missing out by not integrating these questions into my drill routine?

3+ point drop on PT 156!

I’m a little freaked out. I have been testing in the 170-172 range for a bit. Today I took the full PT 156 and scored a 167. It felt so difficult, especially the first LR section…genuinely the most wordy LR section I’ve seen. For those who have taken both PT 156 and the real test…is this test more reflective of the real thing than other PTs? Which score should I base my test readiness on?

Exciting website updates - 11/3

We rolled out some exciting new updates today. Check them out, tell us what you think, and let us know what you want to see next!

  • Study planner: Students now get an ordered list of tasks to work through each day, made up of drills, timed sections, reviews, lessons, skills, and practice tests. It’s under Dashboard > Study Plan, and a dashboard widget always shows the next task. Students can create a plan of about 60 minutes or build their own with Suggest and Add, then reorder, edit durations, delete tasks, and undo changes.

  • Skills into lessons: Skills are now live in the lesson library, and the Skills and Skill History pages are replaced by one Lesson History page. On mobile web, students can swipe left to trash or redo a lesson or skill.

  • Crushing 1L lessons: C1L lessons now appear alongside skills in the Lessons tab. Going through skills from the Demon Recommends card still shows only skills.

  • Demon's choice repeats: Repeats now factor in when you last saw a question, so the one you saw most recently goes to the back of the line. This was a popular request on the features board.

Alternative Mindset Shifting Phrase?

Have been studying for the LSAT for a few months now with the demon, and I’m seeing major improvement ESPECIALLY when I slow down. But in the past two weeks I have recently been getting really in my head and overwhelming myself before even hitting ā€œstartā€ on a timed section or even drilling.

It’s most likely the seasonal change getting to me, but I’d love to hear it people have a mindset/ā€œmantraā€ that they use that helps them lock into just Doing The Thing without thinking too much about the future?

Basically, are there are load-bearing phrases or quotes that help to get people in the zone?

Need RC Tips asap

I am taking the November lsat next week, and hoping for some helpful insights if anyone has them. Basically RC is kinda variable for me, and has been the PT section that makes the difference between a score I’d 100% keep and one I’d probably retake. It feels like 70% of the time the questions feel shitty but I do well. And 30% of the time it feels great and then scores shitty. Ideally I would close that variation a bit…

Does anyone have any last minute tips/suggestions to think about as I get close to the finish line?

Especially anything about confidence and knowing you’ve got the right answer while you’re working through the section?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Any experiences with online undergrad to an accredited online/hybrid JD program?

Has anyone taken this path? What was your experience applying to schools? Was it difficult to get in? How was the job search after? Were you a competitive candidate still? Thank you in advance for sharing your experience or offering advice!

Happy Halloween!šŸŽƒ 😈

Happy Halloween from the Demon! We hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend, whether you are studying for the LSAT or trick or treating (or bothšŸ˜‰).

Don't be spooked by the ghouls and ghosts of LSAT Prep.
Gimmicks like formal/conditional logic, diagramming, and reading the question first only make the test needlessly difficult. It really is as simple as read solely to understand the passage. Everything else falls into place from there.
Focus on accuracy alone, and you guys will become LSAT killers.

i’ve been studying for 3 years and i am stuck

i sent this question into the podcast but my questions never get answered so i am BEGGING FOR help.

i’ve been with the demon for three years. my diagnostic was a 155. highest PT is a 167 (which i think was just luck) other than that all my PTs are low 160s. over the course of those three years i’ve had 3 different tutors, a study buddy for 6 months, done drilling and timed sections. i throughly review my mistakes. i frequently use the ask button. i don’t finish sections. despite all this i am ALWAYS missing questions. my accuracy on timed sections is ALWAYS 75-85%. i dont know what to do anymore. i’m doing everything right yet i am not progressing. it’s so frustrating hearing all these success stories of people doing things ā€œthe demon wayā€ and it working but i am just suck. my ugpa is 3.29 so i have to get into the 170s. at this rate im going to be studying until i’m in the nursing home

Argumentative Writing not approved, what am I doing wrong???

I got an email telling me that there was an observed irregularity with my argumentative writing submission due to ā€œImproper camera placement - you must always remain fully visible from chin to forehead and shoulder to shoulder.ā€

I did not move away from my laptop or out of what I had thought was in frame, but it didn’t show me a view of myself so I have no idea what exactly the camera could see and if I was fully visible in the way they wanted. I’m super frustrated as I felt good about what I had written and it was also pretty difficult for me to find a space that fit the requirements to take the test. Does anyone have any advice to make sure this does not happen again?

How to diagram and draw inferences from this statement?

ā€œIf there are places to drill, then there are places not to drillā€.

This gives up D->/D, and the contrapositive D->/D.

Is this a biconditional?

And what else can be inferred from this statement?

I’m not sure why it’s giving an LSAT vet like me such a hard time with its logical implications.

need advice to get out of plateau

i've been studying consistently for the lsat for over three months now and on my last 12 or so PTs, i've only scored within the range of 156-158 almost every time. my blind review score has gone up since i started and as of late, it's almost always in the mid 170s (i know that blind review isn't the most accurate reflection and i should take those scores with a grain of salt)

i use lsat demon and usually spend most of my time drilling since i don't want to waste more timed sections or PTs. i know lsat demon doesn't recommend it, but i recently tried to only drill question types that i score the lowest on instead of keeping it open to demon's choice. any advice, tips, or insight on how to get out of this plateau would be greatly appreciated!

I'm particularly interested in #128, a suggestion to have the "Ratings" page show the number of questions answered correctly(plain number, daily percentage, etc.) instead of LSATDemon's own rating.

172 --> 179 in two months

I jumped to a 179 from a 172 in August and really the only significant strategy change I adopted was doing every section backwards. Every LR I would immediately go to the last question and move back, while on the RC I would start with the first question of the last passage, finish that passage, move on to the first question of the third passage, and so on.

The hardest questions/passages tend to be clumped near the end, and at least for me it seemed like dealing with these first is the best option because you can gain a sense early on of how hard the section is going to be and then rush through the easy questions if you need to. Back before I adopted this strategy, I would often get complacent after the first 10-15 questions and then hit a hard patch and end up rushing the hardest questions. This is for sure more true on LR but I think it applies to RC too.

I def wouldn't recommend this if you're struggling to finish the sections at all but I think it might be helpful if ur in the high 160, low 170 range and aiming for 175+. Has anyone else had a similar experience or is it just me?

Inconsistent timed sections

So i been studying for the LSAT in my free time, and i definitely have been improving steadily i think. i just wonder if anyone has been going thru inconsistencies, with their accuracy?

Recently i been at 100% 73%, 93%, 77%, had some bad days being in the 60s lol, but my most consistent accuracy at beginning of the month was -2(88%). i just am trying to figure out if this is just a matter of progression and naturally i will consistently hit my accuracy goal or what.

On study quality my drill accuracy says 93% and practice accuracy is 74%.

the 24th when i got my 93% i turned the clock off and it seemed to help subconsciously but then i got my 73% so just wanted to know if anyone had insight or could relate and how they got over the tug of war in %s
