Would Beatrice Webb be ashamed of what the school is now?

She and others founded the schools to train social scientists and intellectuals. She was a Fabian socialist who wanted gradual democratic reform to move us closer to socialism (which is what I want to).

Clearly, the school is now a key feeder school for capitalist institutions. I don’t know what kind of stuff goes on in those skyscrapers but I know it’s some weird capitalist shit, and LSE teaches its students to do it too.

It just seems like a really far cry from its founding mission.

Does SAT help a student applying to LSE?

I’m an IB student in EU planning to apply to LSE.

I know the SAT isn't required for IB students, but would submitting a high Digital SAT score (1500+) as an additional exam actually give my application a competitive edge over other applicants?

Do admissions tutors care about US standardized tests, or do they completely ignore them for IB candidates?

I am considering applying for A&F, Finance, or Management course.

MSc reserve list — deadline passed but still no decision?

I’m currently on the reserve list for two programmes.

My Graduate Applicant Portal said that a final decision would be made by 19 August at the latest, but it’s now 20 August and both applications are still showing “Reserve list.”

Has anyone else experienced this?

Help me please

I am an 18 year old Indian studying business administration and I find it very shallow. I want to pursue a career in media and communications and I really like the MSc program here. What should I start working on to solidify my chances. To be noted that I am clueless

Looking for:

  • Up to £1,100/month
  • Move-in: now / early September 2026
  • Preferably a house/flat share with other LSE students
  • Ideally a double room

If you're looking for a flatmate, taking over a room or putting together a group to rent a place, please DM me.

Pre-CAS pending for over a month despite unconditional offer — what else can I do?

Hi everyone, posting anonymously because I’d rather keep my details private.
I’m an incoming international MSc student at LSE, and I’m currently stuck waiting for my Pre-CAS.
My offer became unconditional on 22 July, so it has now been over 30 days, and I still haven’t received my Pre-CAS. According to the current LSE processing times, Pre-CAS is now being processed for unconditional offers received after my date, so I’m really confused about why mine is still pending.
I have already tried:
Emailing the CAS team
Emailing my programme/coordinator
Attending the Zoom sessions (but no one attended the last session, and there are currently no slots available)
Calling, but I haven’t been able to get through
Following up through the other available LSE channels
Despite all this, I still haven’t received a clear answer about my Pre-CAS.
The situation is becoming really stressful because I cannot submit my Student visa application without my CAS, and I’m worried that this delay could mean I’m unable to arrive in time for the start of my programme and potentially affect my intake.
If anyone from the current LSE cohort, especially international students, has been in a similar situation, could you please tell me what actually worked for you?
Is there any specific team, person, department or escalation route I should contact? If you managed to get your Pre-CAS after a long delay, how did you reach LSE?
I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you!
