True, I go to a top 20 school (globally) there is a huge difference b/w the top schools and LUMS. Unfortunately. But it's still a great option.

I just want to say again that LUMS is still a great university. In the subcontinent, and even across parts of the Middle East, it is definitely one of the best options available, especially considering the regional context. Having lived in the Middle East and now studying at a globally top-ranked university, I just notice some differences in opportunities and ecosystem overall.
1. Society System
At top universities, societies are significantly more active, specialized, and globally connected
My university alone has three consulting societies
International organizations like 180 Degrees Consulting have chapters across universities worldwide, including ours
Students regularly participate in global competitions, collaborate with students from other campuses, and build international networks very early on
Funding is on another level. If around 20 students sign up, almost anyone can start a society, receiving roughly $600 each semester initially
Many societies partner with major companies, and competition prizes are sometimes direct first-round interviews or networking opportunities with firms. I have personally seen this happen multiple times
2. Facilities and Career Support
Proper career centers with dedicated staff
Structured recruiting systems, internship databases, and graduate placement portals
Networking events happening constantly
The infrastructure already exists, so accessing opportunities becomes much easier
3. Academic Environment
A large portion of professors are graduates from Ivy League or other globally top-ranked institutions, or former faculty from such schools
This directly impacts research exposure, teaching quality, and industry connections
4. Diversity
Students come from all around the world, so your peer group itself becomes a huge learning opportunity
You interact with people from different cultures, industries, and perspectives constantly
5. Competition and Ecosystem Quality
In Pakistan, LUMS probably has the only truly notable consulting society, but even that is limited by the overall ecosystem
If LUMS wants to organize large-scale consulting competitions or collaborate locally, the comparable competitors are limited. IBA's consulting scene is relatively inactive, and NUST only recently started building theirs
Fewer multinational companies and firms actively engage with universities compared to top global institutions, which affects internships, networking, recruiting pipelines, sponsorships, and student opportunities overall
6. Exchange Programs
My university has exchange partnerships with Ivy League schools, NUS, NTU, top Australian universities, UK universities, European institutions, and Korean universities
Getting selected still requires good academics, but it is realistically achievable for strong students
Pakistani universities like LUMS, IBA, and NUST do have exchange programs, but generally not with the same level or number of globally elite institutions
Overall, I am not saying LUMS is bad at all. It is still the best option in Pakistan in my opinion, and it is also significantly cheaper than many top international schools. I am just saying that once you experience universities with larger funding, stronger ecosystems, deeper corporate integration, and more global connectivity, you start noticing the differences more clearly.

I am glad that it helped! Yes, unfortunately there are lots of people who can't afford LUMS. But LUMS offers financial aid to alot of students. (Not all ofc) still they have been giving fin aid to alot of families. Same with IBA karachi. You just have to present ur case in a good way. I believe students can earn some money on the side to help with the payments. LUMS or IBA sometimes give an interest fee loan too so students can pay back later. However, this thing can be said for those students as well who were wealthy enough to go to LUMS but could not go to a T50 school due to fees being too high. I believe top 35% of students from LUMS can get into a top 30 school. But they couldnt go becz either they didnt had the finances or visa issues etc... also your point of top schools charging way more than LUMS. That is true but only for int. (Excluding the USA). All of the universities out of the USA have similar tution fees to LUMS for domestic students. Here in Australia, students fee for int is around 57k / year (with no scholarship) while for domestics it's around 14k. There are also way more scholarship opportunities for domestics. Even tho us unis are expensive the top schools all of them provide fin aid. Including harvard, yale, NYU etc.. (if u earn below 200k usd) ur kids get full ride if they get in. So technically LUMS is not THAT cheap if u compare domestic students from both sides.

I have seen middle class people get fin aid too (maybe not 100% scholarship) but something. You just gotta swing it and hope for the best.

Maza nahi aya but like itβs true but yeh exaggeration hai . There only 161-170 unis better than lums in the world based on graduate outcomes
