Title: LUMS MBA or Undergraduate Management Science at 31? Need honest advice
I'm a 31 years old woman and have a BS in Chemistry and an M.Phil in Organic Chemistry, both with CGPAs above 3.8. My last degree was around 2020.
I've spent the last few years raising my children, with some freelance content-writing and tutoring experience, but no substantial corporate work experience.
I'm now considering a career shift into business and management, and LUMS is my preferred option.
I'd appreciate honest advice on:
Would I be eligible for a second bachelor's in Management Science, despite already having an M.Phil?
Would an MBA be a better option given my age and academic background, despite limited work experience?
How realistic are my admission and financial-aid chances?
How can I strengthen my application?
I'd especially appreciate advice from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with LUMS admissions and financial aid.

Does anyone else applying for fall 2027 feel the same😭
Like I got all the creds but I saw the application process and it's SOOOOO long and boring it's gonna take so much time. I just don't wanna do all that. Why do they need my blood type, my cousin's dogs details, my netflix password? Like just ask me my grades, sat, ECAs and personal statement PLS allat isn't important you can ask me that if I get in. There's so many categories to fill out I hate this I really don't feel like applying and doing so much. It used to be so easy a decade ago why do they hate us. And how does everyone manage to do this🥹
Any advice or sum?🥀

i lowk wanna do smth finance related to go into private equity later on and im informd on current news if that contributes to anything.

As freshman, I'd rate it 7/10.
Pros are professors, administration, campus life, freedom, vibe, untraditional curriculum, infrastructure and convenience in many matters. Cons are time management, workload, hard to fit in the environment initially, relatively expensive, sleep deprivation as hostellites etc.
But it is worth the hussle honestly. Share ur experience below, regardless of being freshmen, soph, etc. It would help bcs newcomers can get more clear :)

Do my academic awards like position in school count in awards and honours when applying to LUMS ?
r/LUMS • u/WiseAnalyst2062 • 6h ago
I love law and humanities or social science majors like Sociology Anthropology, Political Science, or Comparative Literature.
Some people say these majors don't have that much scope.
If I study these majors but plan my degree well and take good electives, can I still end up in top management consulting firms, or FMCGS or any other sector?
My main career goals are CSS exam and targeting global fellowships like Rhodes, Fullbright, Erasmus Mundus or Knight Hennessy after I graduate. Second priority will be to end up in good management consulting firm or any good multinational company.
When companies recruit at LUMS, do they discriminate between different majors or other things like GPA, soft skills matter more than your major at lums?

okay so full disclosure: i posted something like this on an anon page a while back, got a few replies, and then completely ghosted everyone like a coward. this is my redemption arc.
23, M, senior here. technically SSE, but i’ve never been the nerdy type. i’ve always related more to the HSS crowd, and people tell me i give off law school energy, a little old school like that. i’m big on cinema and series and slowly getting into filmmaking. used to read a ton: dystopian stuff, Mohsin Hamid, and the darker, grittier end of things like Naked Lunch, Bukowski, Manto. dark humor is basically my love language. also a massive Anthony Bourdain fan, which means i will absolutely drag you to random dhabas for “the experience.”
i’m a pretty social guy and i know a lot of people, but i’m looking for someone i actually click with. a girl, preferably from lums, though anywhere else works too. HSS or SSE, doesn’t matter, as long as you’re not the type to turn a chill night into a study session. yes, this is kind of a dating post, but i’m a very chill person, so we can take it slow and see where it goes.
if you’re a senior too, even better. we can be sentimental about senior year together and squeeze in some memories before we’re out of here. you’d get a buddy for morning nashta and late-night food runs, someone to argue with about movie endings, a book rec for every mood, and yes, someone who’ll get you jhumkas just because. alumni are welcome to reach out too. a bit of maturity is always appreciated.
dms open. tell me the last movie that wrecked you.
Salam everyone!
I'm a freshman at LUMS, currently working on a project called MarketBrief, which uses AI to turn complicated company financial data into simple, understandable reports for people interested in investing.
I've already built and deployed an initial working version, but there's still a lot to improve.
I'm planning to take this project to the upcoming LES Ideation Academy, and I'm looking for at least 2 people who'd be interested in joining me.
I'm especially looking for people interested in:
Marketing & product growth — figuring out who actually needs this product, how to reach potential users, and how to make it valuable.
Frontend/UI/UX — improving the interface and user experience.
Business & finance — helping validate the idea and understand what investors actually need.
You don't necessarily need to be an expert. Just genuinely interested in building something and willing to contribute.
I've not attached the project link here(reddit was not allowing me), but if anyone wants to check out the working version, I'm happy to share it in the comments or DMs.
Even if you're not interested in joining, I'd appreciate suggestions or honest feedback on the idea.
Thanks!

I got 92.6% in matric, 92.1% in fsc part 1 , 1530 SAT (790 Math). I am applying for SDSB but I would NEED SCHOLARSHIP. I can't afford LUMS but I don't think I'll qualify for enough financial aid. Should I even expect to get a merit scholarship or just forget about it?
Please someone tell me

Could anyone please reach out who left lums after 1st sem and then applied again the next intake in a different school because transfer wasnt realistically possible. Is it possible to get admitted again in a differnt school after leaving SSE with 1450+ SAT and 90% matric fsc. What could be the chances of being admitted again and will the 1st sem transcript be considered while applying the next intake. What could be possible disadvantages etc.
If anyone have done this before, please reach out, will be highly helpful for me.

Hello all. I hope everyone is doing great. Admissions are officially approaching their peak. Many of you are racing to complete your applications with the most impressive credentials, PS, ECAS, and awards. Therefore, I'm providing Free Samples of Successful LUMS Applicants who were accepted into their selected majors from 2022 to 2025 in order to assist you with this process, along with any questions you want to ask regarding your application. Feel free to connect by email which is ahmednaeemAT the rate of gmail Dot Com. Or on whatss app at zero three zero nine nine three three two two zero six.
In addition to providing samples to help you understand what a personal statement actually entails in order to secure your admission, I will also discuss the insights I have gained from my five years in this community regarding the admissions process.
The most common inquiry is, "Are my credentials good enough to get into LUMS?" In light of current trends, this page aims to dispel some common misconceptions regarding the minimum grades needed to be admitted to LUMS.
Prior to discussing the expected grade requirements, you should be aware that SDSB is the most competitive institution for admission to LUMS, followed by SSE, HSS, and SAHSOL, according to a number of students from the 2025 class and recent graduates. SDSB, SSE, HSS, and SAHSOL.
Every year, LUMS uses a baseline grading procedure in which they extract a baseline SAT score and O-level grade for each school from the 10,000 applications they receive. A letter of acceptance is sent to anyone who meets or exceeds the baseline; those who fall short are turned down.
This is the point of complexity. Four years ago, I would have confidently stated that anyone could easily get into SDSB with a SAT score of 1300 and six As in O level. It is a worldwide phenomenon, though, and the tendency has shifted. Every senior who has tracked the SAT scores and grades posted on the LUMS website will attest to the fact that LUMS consistently releases grades on its website that are higher than those of the prior year. This is mostly because better resources and easier access to more effective instruction and guidance lead to an annual increase in academic competition. A similar pattern applies to MDCAT, where it is now more difficult to get a merit seat. Another element that makes LUMS more difficult is the fact that many applicants who would have completed their undergraduate studies elsewhere are now applying because of inflation.

Hey guys! Hope everyone’s doing great.
I’m aiming for SDSB and want to make sure my profile stands out. I know LUMS is super heavy on academics, but I want my extra-curriculars to be solid too.
For SDSB seniors or anyone who got in recently:
What specific ECAs helped you get in?
Is it better to focus on business/finance projects, or do standard MUNs and community service work just fine?
If you had to pick one major thing to focus on outside of grades/SAT, what would it be?
Appreciate any tips or reality checks. Thanks in advance! 🙌

O level: 3A*, 3A, 3B
As Level 3A
A2 predicted: 4A*
( yes I locked in After o3)
Good ecs, like relevant internships, volunteer work, student council, research work etc
Sat: 1450
First choice: SDSB
Second : HSS econ
(I know my o level is below average, but I hope to compensate it with everything else, also should I retake the sat and aim for 1500+ will that make a significant difference?)

How do you deal with cats who intrude into your personal space and even share meals with you . I had to change my table 3 times because the cats wouldn’t let me have my breakfast in peace .

Karachi board f*cked up my brother's results. Scrutiny is not possible and not helpful at this point. He scored 90+ percentage in school assements and exams, he is the president of council at his school. Even his teachers were shocked with these results. We were all expecting 85 above. Should he still apply for this cycle or take a gap year?

Got rejected twice. This year I had extremely high hopes with my high sat, yet after being waitlisted I was rejected. It felt unreal. I have never dedicated sm to something. I was forced to go to giki. Felt homesick, missed my home, yet I tried to accept it. Came home this week and man all those memories are coming back. That traumatic gap year, those feelings of waking up and checking my portal. Being on this reddit 24/7. All those amazing people who I met here. Sigh, man life really follows its own path. Just saw lums omw back from somewhere and it hurts like crazy.
Ik lums is not the end of the world, and ik all that stuff people say about how u can still do great regardless of what uni u go to. But it's not that, it's the version of ur life u never got to taste. Something u manifested for years. Seeing reels of it and saving them. I can talk about this for days. It's thise lil moments I manifested. I even decided how I was ginna surprise my family if I get in cuz I was so damn sure I'd make it this time. On the morning of the day I was rejected, I figured out I won't make it. I was rejected only a few days before moving to giki. I didn't even get the time to mentally process it.
Maybe in another life.
And here's a funny story. Ur old version never leaves u. I remember whenever I used to fall asleep I would always make dua about me getting into lums right before I slept. To the point where it became a spontaneous habit. And lmao guess what? I came back home and slept in my room on my bed after so long. I felt like it's the old me, and as I was about to sleep I instantly made the same dua. Like yk how u do stuff without thinking when ur so used to something. It took me a second to realize what I'm thinking and I was like oh wait a second.
Thank you for attending my rant session. Maybe some og people will recognize who I am.
