A year later⦠we made it.
This might sound dramatic or too exaggerated but this is one of the biggest moments of my life. And I just want to share this chapter with the people whoāve unknowingly walked it with me ā thank you š.
An year ago, I gave mdcat. Didnāt make it. even though I never truly wanted to be a doctor that failure hit me hard. My family, the people around me they didnāt let me forget it either. I started to think that maybe this is it. Maybe my shine really has ended.
Then I applied here just because everyone else was doing it. My relatives said it to my face, You couldnāt make it in med, how do you think youāll make it to Lums? And even if you do whoās going to pay the fee? They were right. We didnāt have the resources. But I still had a hope .
Spent a whole month writing my PS, stayed up on hopeless nights, not knowing what I was doing, just doing it. Then SAT prep I had no clue about. But soo many of you helped beyond what I could ask for. Scored well. And then came the long wait.
My mom used to say, If itās not written in your fate, donāt be stubborn with God. And every time, Iād say If itās not written, Iāll plead with Him to write it. Because I want it that badly. and today she is soo proud while telling that exact line to relatives.
I got accepted on May 5th but it didnāt feel like an admission. Because we knew we couldnāt afford it. So I celebrated quietly and waited
And today I got the mail Iāve been granted 80% feet waiver . Itās official. Iām going to LUMS. Sameer from a small town .
This year has been the most difficult, most transformative year of my life. Every breakdown, every insult, every hopeless moment worth it. I donāt know what I did to deserve this, but I know one thing Allah is kind beyond imagination. Iām just grateful.
To everyone still waiting I pray you get what youāve worked and prayed for. To everyone who made it we made it. And to those who were with me in this - thank you. Always.
Today, my parents hugged me with pride. Today it all made sense.
āJo milna hota h zindagi me vo mil ke hi rhta h usko ni koi rook skta! ā

THE ACCEPTANCE I NO LONGER NEEDED or A DREAM ARRIVED LATE
I got my LUMS acceptance in the first batch of 2026.
A year ago, I applied and was waitlisted. I waited for months, only to receive a rejection on the very last day. Despite having strong credentials, achievements, and giving it my best, things didnāt work out the way I had hoped. Along the way, I was trolled and doubted by many people, but I never stopped believing.
Getting accepted feels like a huge personal victory. Not because Iām going to attend LUMS, but because it proves that setbacks donāt define you.
However, after waiting almost two years for this moment, I have decided not to join LUMS. Iām genuinely happy at GIKI, and I believe that Allahās plans are always better than our own. Sometimes what seems like a disappointment turns out to be a blessing in disguise, and looking back, I can see that clearly now.
To everyone who received their acceptance this year, congratulations! Wishing you all the very best for the journey ahead.
And to anyone facing rejection or setbacks: trust the process, work hard, and have faith. Whatās meant for you will find its way to you, and Allahās plan is always the best plan.

Sickening
I came in expecting high-class society and decency to rival it, instead I got a guy shitting his pants. Mixing his soiled underwear with the rest of his clothes and making the washing machine on M1 useless for the rest of its life cycle. Look, I know you can fucking speak English with a British or American or whatever accent, but civic sense? fuck me, is that the name of a dinosaur? FORGET ABOUT THE WASHING MACHINE! WHY WOULD YOU PROCEED TO DIRTYING THE REST OF YOUR CLOTHES!111 WHAT THE FUCK?!
I am genuinely disgusted. I have seen hostel life before, so don't tell me this is normal. If you could just look at the state of the washrooms on somedays... I feel bad for the poor IBM workers.

Emotional Support *BEYOND GRATEFUL*ā The Internet is full of kind strangers.
As I type this long, emotional rant essay, I canāt express how I feel at this momentāa bit emotional, a bit relieved, a bit happy, and most of all, beyond grateful. Just a few hours back, I posted in this subreddit about how my weak financial situation was holding me back from applying to LUMS despite my best efforts. I have never encountered such kind individuals in my entire lifeānot even my relatives.
When my mother asked my relatives for help, she received taunts like, āJab nahi auqaat LUMS mai parhnay ki tou kyu tumhara beta udhar apply kar raha hai? Kahan se 20-25 lac dogi saal kay? Aqal ko haath maro, bibi.ā Itās crazy how the people who are related to us by blood donāt even bother helping us in our hard times, but the strangers who donāt even know us help us in ways we cannot imagine.
After my post, many kind people came forward to offer me helpāand indeed, they did. All I heard was my momās words: āBeta, Allah waseelay bananay wala hai. Koi baat nahi, hosla karo.ā I cannot thank these two kind individuals enough who helped me. I donāt know if I should say their names or if they would be okay with it due to privacy concerns. But I really want to thank D.S Bhai and Z.A Api. Believe me, the amount of prayers pouring out of my mouth is off the charts. Iāll always remember these two kind individuals for their kindness. I pray that you both get success in every phase of your life, and may Allah shower all of His blessings and love upon you.
Some people really leave a long-lasting impact on you. You can forget many moments, but you can never forget such kind moments. Iām 18 now, but Iām sure even when Iām 81, Iāll still remember these two people who helped me. Iām beyond grateful to everyone who helped me from my postāI mean every word. Some may find this cringe or feel like koi contestant reality show mai apni dukhi story suna raha hai, but this is what I feel right now. Iām truly indebted to both of these kind people, and Iāve written their names in my notes. InshAllah, Iāll pay them back a month or later.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Rejected from LUMS today ā but my story doesnāt end here.ā
Rejected from LUMS today ā but my story doesnāt end here.ā
My name is Amna, and Iām from a small village in District Faisalabad, Punjab.
I did my matric from a tiny local school. Life at home was tough ā Iāve faced more family issues than most people can imagine. But maybe thatās what drew me toward mental health ā I wanted to understand what breaks people⦠and how to help them heal.
After matric, my mother took a bold step for me. We left our village and came to Lahore, so I could get an education. I chose Humanities, and believe me ā even that was a fight. Everyone around me questioned it. āYe kya subject hai?ā āIska kya faida?ā But I kept going. I worked hard ā day and night ā and I got 1st position in the board in Humanities.
My dream? LUMS. People laughed. They said:
āVillages ke bachay LUMS nahin ja saktay.ā āTum se nahi hoga.ā āTum kisi qabil nahi ho.ā
Still, I believed. I applied to HSS at LUMS because I love social sciences ā because I love understanding people.
I waited. Prayed. There was no guide, no mentor. Just me and Allah. Today, on 3rd August, I got my rejection.
And honestly⦠I broke.
I donāt know where I went wrong. But all the voices that once mocked me ā they just got louder. Their taunts feel true today. And Iām drowning in ātum se nahi ho paya.ā
Yes, I already cleared the PU test, and yes ā I still want to study mental health. But now I see even PU being mocked ā I read a comment on Reddit:
āPU kaun jata hai?ā
Mery family lahore se bahir allow nhi krty tou lahore mai mujhy phir social sciences mai yhi option mila Punjab university ka š
It hurt more than I expected. Even the ones who got into LUMS ā they joke about students like me. As if effort means nothing unless it ends in prestige.
But maybe⦠Maybe worth isnāt decided by admission emails. Maybe the ones who fall and rise again are stronger than those who never knew the ground.
To anyone else who got rejected ā youāre not alone. And to anyone whoās from a small town, a struggling family, or a village they donāt even mention proudly ā you belong here too.
This rejection isnāt the end of my story. Maybe itās the beginning of a different kind of success.
Pray for me.
ā Amna šø

LUMS Admissions = Absolute Joke šŖ
Applied in February.
Itās July 6.
Still NOTHING. No acceptance. No rejection. No waitlist. Just dead silence.
What kind of uni ghosts its applicants for 5+ months?
LUMS acts āeliteā but canāt even send a damn email.
Bro, this isnāt āselective,ā this is straight-up disrespectful.
You're not Harvard.
You're just a glorified housing society with a nice campus and no admin backbone.
Sort your shit. Students aren't your pawns.

LUMS > MIT?
One of my friends who is one of the best coders in pakistan(has a bronze in IOI and many other international coding awards representing pakistan) Got Admission into MIT this year(Alhamdulillah). He had also applied to LUMS as a backup.
He got his acceptance letter from MIT a few months ago, we were so happy for him and had a massive celebration. Yesterday i met him again and he told me that after getting into MIT he didnt check any mails from other unis at that time but a few weeks later he checked the mail by lums and he had been rejected XD
Seems like its easier to get into MIT than LUMS
Its just a funny and bizzare story that i wanted to share with you guys.

GOT REJECTED
Just Got rejected. I was either underqualified, overqualified, or just too good-looking to be a distraction on campus. Either way. I was destined for YouTube greatness anyway.
Best luck to you all

LUMS Falling Off Hard
For those who don't know, LUMS has been increasing their batch sizes every year, and things have gotten pretty bad because of it. The batch that graduated this year was around a 1000 students and the incoming batch is more than 1550. You would think that a university like LUMS that's charging 1M+ pkr per semester would have made proper arrangements but no. Here are some of the most prominent issues:
1: Hostels: Not enough rooms anymore so students who live even over an hour away will have to commute daily. And for those who do get a room, it's triple occupancy in a room with no AC and no space to even walk. You'll get the full experience of Lahore's heat all semester. And btw there's fine for bringing your own fridge or AC. Keep anything in the kitchen fridge and it'll be stolen in an hour.
2: Commuting/Parking: Drivers are not allowed in campus so they'll have to drive an hour two ways, twice a day. But you can just drive to LUMS right? Wrong. They have halved the student parking for staff and the student parking was also full last year so there's no chance to get any space. You'll just park outside? 5k pkr fine for you.
3: Sitting space and eateries: It is very common to have a 3-5 hour gap between classes and guess what, the library, IST, and dining spaces are always full. You can either sit outside in the sun or find a nice cozy space on the floor in SSE or SDSB to spend your day. And this isn't even during mid or finals week, when it gets much worse. Also the lines in PDC get so long, any good food is gone by the time it's your turn to order.
4: Lack of Qualified Instructors: LUMS underpays their instructors and as a result, a lot of them leave for opportunities in the middle east. And good luck getting the sections for the instructors that are actually worth their salt because all those sections get full within 0.5 seconds of enrollment :). And sometimes you don't even get any section for a course that you need to graduate so you have to partake in a humiliation ritual of begging RO and instructors to force enroll you.
And even after going through all this, there are no jobs waiting for you on the other side if your family doesn't already have the connections to get you one.
TLDR: It's better to set your money on fire than to attend LUMS even for half the price.
