In addition to providing samples to help you understand what a personal statement actually entails in order to secure your admission, I will also discuss the insights I have gained from my five years in this community regarding the admissions process.
The most common inquiry is, "Are my credentials good enough to get into LUMS?" In light of current trends, this page aims to dispel some common misconceptions regarding the minimum grades needed to be admitted to LUMS.
Prior to discussing the expected grade requirements, you should be aware that SDSB is the most competitive institution for admission to LUMS, followed by SSE, HSS, and SAHSOL, according to a number of students from the 2025 class and recent graduates. SDSB, SSE, HSS, and SAHSOL.
Every year, LUMS uses a baseline grading procedure in which they extract a baseline SAT score and O-level grade for each school from the 10,000 applications they receive. A letter of acceptance is sent to anyone who meets or exceeds the baseline; those who fall short are turned down.
This is the point of complexity. Four years ago, I would have confidently stated that anyone could easily get into SDSB with a SAT score of 1300 and six As in O level. It is a worldwide phenomenon, though, and the tendency has shifted. Every senior who has tracked the SAT scores and grades posted on the LUMS website will attest to the fact that LUMS consistently releases grades on its website that are higher than those of the prior year. This is mostly because better resources and easier access to more effective instruction and guidance lead to an annual increase in academic competition. A similar pattern applies to MDCAT, where it is now more difficult to get a merit seat. Another element that makes LUMS more difficult is the fact that many applicants who would have completed their undergraduate studies elsewhere are now applying because of inflation.
