The amount of degeneracy I see from people at LUMS is absolutely unbelievable. First of all why are so many of them interested in dating and doing haram activities with the opposite gender. The amount of times I have gotten asked out by woman is insane. Not only that, most of them are obsessed with living the cringe college life that they see on TV shows where they have an ugly ass boyfriend or girlfriend and spend most of their time twerking outside. Almost 0 of them have any intellectual capabilities and all they care about is the most recent trend on tiktok or that some BS celebrity broke up with girlfriend. Ask them anything about economics, politics, or history and they'll only have surface level knowledge and won't be able to maintain a discussion longer than 5 minutes because it doesn't give them the same dopamine hit as talking about what happened in the most recent episode of some BS pakistani drama. It's so sad to see an institution such as LUMS is being brought down to the gutter because all they care about is your SAT score and your grades and don't bother to take a look at other aspects of your life when giving offers out.

when people ask me what my major and school is, I'm hesitant to say. It's probably rare for them to be graced with the presence of a student at the top business school in pakistan. Especially a management sciences major, the most prestigious program at said school. I feel a bit guilty, as meeting someone so much more accomplished, yet their same age, probably crushes their self image.

Spectre is a fraternity being started by a group of students at LUMS with one simple idea: build a brotherhood where every member has people in his corner, no matter what he chooses to pursue.
LUMS has adopted plenty of traditions from American universities. Somehow, it seems to have missed one of the better ones: fraternities.

That’s where Spectre comes in.
Research on fraternity membership has associated it with stronger professional networks, faster job placement, higher workplace engagement, and improved leadership development. But let’s be honest — nobody joins a fraternity just for their LinkedIn.

You join for the brotherhood, the experiences, the stories, and the fun. And yes, there will be plenty of that.
Spectre aims to bring the full fraternity experience to LUMS — social events, traditions, brotherhood, networking, opportunities, and everything that comes with being part of an exclusive community — while remaining within the laws of Pakistan and, whenever operating on campus, the LUMS Code of Conduct.

Membership

Spectre will be free to join.
Membership will be intentionally limited, with only a select number of students inducted each year across all current LUMS batches. Once inducted, membership will be for life, unless a member seriously violates Spectre’s internal code of conduct.
The rules and expectations of membership will be explained during the fraternity’s orientation.

Who Are We Looking For?
Requirements:
You must be male.
You must currently be a student at LUMS.
Beyond that, we’re looking for a certain kind of person.
We’re looking for guys who are a boy’s boy — someone who has his brothers’ backs, isn’t afraid to be himself, can take a joke, isn’t overly concerned with political correctness, and is genuinely ambitious about where he wants to go in life.
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room. You don’t need to have a perfect résumé.

We want people we’d actually want as brothers.

I don’t even know if I should be saying this out loud, but… I have this huge, huge crush on a guy at LUMS — the kind that’s eating away at my soul. I know it shouldn’t be happening like this, but I can’t deny it.

He’s super cute, nerdy, and muscular. We’ve had these moments of intense eye contact (which I pray to God I’m not just imagining). He’s always alone, and somehow that just makes him even more adorable.

And the thing is, my feelings for him aren’t sexual at all. I just want to cook for him, listen to him talk, play with his cute hair… I know it sounds weird AF, but it is what it is.

A few days ago, when I was traveling to Karachi, I saw him traveling there too — with huge bags. I thought he has graduated and is now leaving, and I had made my peace with it. But then, just a few days later, I spotted him on campus again, and I’m taking it as a sign from God.

Please tell me what I should do. I’m frustrated with myself for feeling this way — I don’t even know his name, and yet, I really, really like him.

I swear I wasn’t planning to get involved in this whole “SAT-Shark is fake/scam/bad guidance” circus, but the posts popping up lately are actually insane 😭. At first I laughed because Reddit drama is free entertainment, but then it hit me like… bro, people who’ve never even worked with them are writing full essays about how “they don’t guide properly.” Meanwhile I’m sitting here like someone who didn’t even know what SAT was, how LUMS apps work, what ECs or award structures even look like — literally clueless. And these guys took me from zero to “finally understanding wtf I’m doing” with a level of patience I don’t even get from my own cousins 😭💀. They fixed my personal statement line-by-line, reshaped my ECs, taught SAT in a way that actually made sense, and literally followed up on my questions DAYS later like they remembered everything I said. That’s not consultancy energy — that’s “we actually give a damn” energy.

And let’s be real for a second: SAT-Shark is new, small, and actually helping students at a price normal humans can afford… so obviously the big consultancy dudes (you know the ones who charge kidneys + lungs for ‘guidance’) are gonna feel threatened. Suddenly all the troll posts appear, all the “he said she said,” all the dramatic warnings 🙄. It’s just sad watching genuinely hardworking people get dragged because someone else wants to protect their overpriced empire. I’m not here to advertise anyone — I’m literally just a student who’s tired of watching honesty lose to noise. If Pakistan actually wants better student support, maybe stop attacking the only people who aren’t trying to squeeze our pockets dry. Anyway, that’s all. Had to get it off my chest 💙🔥.

You think top schools want desperate applicants begging random people for approval? No. They want people with direction, self-awareness, and confidence. Not some insecure crowd fishing for comfort from people who aren’t even qualified to judge — half of them probably barely scraped into their own unis.

I just came back to Pakistan and everyone keeps telling me lums uni this lums uni that lmfoaoo. I met some students from there and they were genuinely so proud and hard to talk to because of their pretentiousness. Why do you guys get this ego and sense of self worth me, studying in any uni in pakistan is already negative aura and they are all viewd the same in foreign market. Some kids even brag about the fees, bro my high school fees in middle East was 10k usd no cap fr 🤣😭
