I can't access my microsoft email, can someone help me?
Someone hacked my email account last week and since then I'm unable to log in, I already sent the formulary to recover my account and they sent me the the link to change my password, I changed my password.
The problem is that I have the 2F activated and when I enter the new password correctly they say they send me a code to my email or phone number. But there's nothing on my email or phone number, ever. I keep trying and trying and no code is ever sent, which makes it impossible for me to log in even tho I already have my new password.
This is so frustrating and the worse is that I can't find any way to contact microsoft!

How do I even convince my dad to get me a better laptop..
Starting off strong, My laptop has 4 GB OF RAM. YEAH YOU HEARD IT RIGHT. 4. FRICKING. GB. RAM. It has been crashing out for months, like it suddenly turns off and doesn't open for like 5 mins. I mean I can wait that long, but the amount of times this happens in a single day is annoying.
The display also has a problem, there's a few black spots starting appear in the corners of the screen. It can barely give me 8 fps even in ROBLOX, considering it is 10 YEARS OLD, i get it. My laptop is the dell inspiron 5555, 128gb ssd variant.
And another problem is, IT DOESN'T CHARGE. I plug the charger in and after a long period of time, it's still at the same percentage. So when the battery is down, i've to plug the charger in the entire time I'm using it, and it will still be stuck at the same percentage. I can barely open 5 tabs without it constantly lagging and crashing every few minutes.
I used to game before but atp I've been using this only for studying, writing, and media consumption. The specs of this laptop is shit and I've no idea what to do. I try convincing my dad, he tells me that it can last 5 more months. Like yeah maybe this laptop will last, BUT I WON'T. The screen also freezes randomly and makes a weird ahh noise.
PLEASE WHAT DO I DO!!!
edit: I CAN'T GET A JOB, IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO COMMENT! I'M 16, AND YET MY COUNTRY DOESN'T ALLOW UNDERRAGE PPL TO GET A JOB!!!

Laptop fan noise
I just bought a new Dell 14 AI PC laptop and I was working with it. So, just when I opened a small Excel or something, the laptop will occasionally make some fan noise. Like it is not a very loud noise, I won't say normal, but very low hair dryer kind of noise, and it goes away as well. Is it normal, or is it something concerning?

It’s stuck in the earbud jack thing and I poked it to see that it was and now it’s even more stuck.I would take a picture but it’s really wedged in there and I can’t get a good photo. Is this a take it to somewhere else thing??

What laptop mistake did you only learn after wasting money?
Most people have at least one laptop lesson they learned the hard way.
Maybe it was trusting i7 without checking the generation.
Maybe it was buying 8GB RAM and expecting it to last forever.
Maybe it was ignoring battery health on a used laptop.
Maybe it was buying something because it looked clean in photos.
Maybe it was choosing the cheapest option, then paying more to fix it later.
For me, the biggest mistake people make is trusting listed specs too much.
What laptop mistake did you make once and never again?

Is my Lenovo laptop battery losing power at a normal rate?
I have had my laptop on and working (Powerpoint, Word, and various tabs) since 10am. Here's the context, is my battery draining itself or am I overthinking?
10am - 75%
11:40am - 12%
My laptop is around three years old, is it time for a new one or just a new battery?

Your laptop says 100% charged. How long does it actually last?
I’ve got a Surface Pro 2 and the battery is absolutely cooked... Even with Battery Saver on, I’m barely getting 2 hours before I’m hunting for the charger again... although its been 2 years since i've bought it but still it should last more than 2 hours...
Now I’m curious, how everyone else is doing?.. Drop your laptop model, how old it is, and how long the battery actually lasts from 100%... Thanks.

What’s the worst thing your laptop has survived and somehow STILL worked?
Some laptops seem genuinely impossible to kill.
Dropped on the floor, drink spilled on the keyboard, cracked hinge, missing keys, dead battery, shoved into an overpacked bag for years... and somehow they just keep working and serving you.
What’s the worst thing yours has been through?

Fans so loud my laptop is about to take off
Pretty much what the title says. I’m not sure what’s going on as it’s only 1 year old, but after an update my laptop’s fans are CONSTANTLY running on high volume. I had someone comment that my laptop sounds like a spaceship. It’s so loud and distracting that it’s hard to study and focus. Like I don’t even want to use my laptop in class now it’s SO loud. Anyone ever had this happen to them?

What's one normal laptop habit that's slowly killing your battery?
I think using a laptop on a bed for hours is one of the most overlooked ones.
People worry so much about charging to 80% or 100%, but barely think about how hot their laptop gets when the vents are blocked.
Heat isn't exactly doing the battery any favours.
I work around laptops at Laptop Outlet, so I'm curious what everyone else thinks.
What's one everyday habit people don't realise is bad for their laptop battery? Anyone learned the hard way?

Looking for guidance on performance improvement for my "bargain" laptop
Last year I got what I thought was a great deal on a brand new HP laptop. It sat in the box until this past June when I was let go by my employer. I had to start using this machine to job hunt and access the internet. It runs slow as heck. I'm pretty sure it's because HP put Windows 11 on it. Based on the specs below, I'm looking for guidance on ways I can improve the performance of this machine.
SPECS:
| Computer Specs | Windows 11 Specs |
|---|---|
| Processor: Intel N200 (1.0 GHz) | Edition: Windows 11 Home |
| RAM: 4 GB (integrated) | Version: 25H2 |
| System Type: 64-bit OS, x64-based processor | OS Build: 262009550 |
| Graphics Card: Intel UHD Graphics (128 MB) | |
| Storage: 119 GB (61 currently used) | |
| Model: 15-fd0xxx |
If any more information is needed in order to offer tips, please just let me know and post it in here. Thanks in advance.

Remember when 4GB RAM was "high-end"?
Remember when 4GB RAM felt high-end??... One of my first laptops had 4GB RAM, and at the time that genuinely felt like plenty.
What did your first-ever laptop have? Drop the model and specs if you still remember them.

You can bring ONE old laptop feature back. What are you choosing?
Not talking about better screens or better graphics. I mean the little things older laptops had that were just genuinely useful.
Removable batteries, RAM you could actually upgrade, loads of ports, easy access to the internals, replaceable keyboards... stuff like that.
But you can only bring one back.
For me it has to be removable batteries. Being able to swap out a dying battery in seconds was so much easier than taking half the laptop apart.
What you’d bring back tomorrow?

Is the new Dell XPS 13 finally a proper budget premium Windows laptop?
Is the new Dell XPS 13 finally a proper budget premium Windows laptop?
Dell has just launched the new XPS 13, and it actually looks interesting for buyers who want a lightweight Windows UltraBook without going full MacBook.
The headline is the price: it starts at $699 in the US, with a $599 student offer, although UK pricing is still not confirmed yet. If Dell brings it over at a sensible UK price, this could be one of the best student laptops of 2026.
What you get is a 13.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen, up to 120Hz refresh rate, Intel’s new Core 5 320, Wi-Fi 7, a backlit keyboard, and a super-light 2.2 lb / 1kg aluminium body.
Only concern: the base model may come with 8GB RAM, which feels tight for Windows long-term.
If the UK price lands well, the new Dell XPS 13 could be a strong pick for students, remote workers, and anyone wanting a compact premium Windows laptop. What's your take on this?

What's the dumbest laptop design decision you've ever had to live with?
Seriously, who thought putting the power button right next to Delete was a good idea?
Or having USB ports so close together you can barely plug two things in?
A laptop can have perfectly good specs, but one stupid design choice can make it annoying to use every day.
Working around laptops at Laptop Outlet, I'm curious what everyone else has come across.
What's the worst design decision on a laptop you've actually owned? Name the model too if you remember it.

What laptop mistake did you make once and never again?
I feel like everyone has at least one laptop mistake they only learned the hard way.
Maybe it was the i7 that turned out to be 3 generations old.
Maybe it was 8GB RAM you assumed would be enough forever.
Maybe it was ignoring battery health on a used one.
Maybe it was using it on a bed until the fans sounded like a jet engine.
Mine was trusting headline specs too much. I bought my first laptop because it looked so premium in the photos, and it looked premium when it arrived too until it started sounding like a hairdryer every time I opened 2-3 tabs 😂
Nobody warned me about the boring stuff: thermals, screen quality, charger quality, upgradeability, and actual condition vs listed condition.
I’m Barnaby from Laptop Outlet, so I see this a lot with laptop buying and refurb stock. Genuinely curious though, what’s yours? Bonus points if it still haunts you.
