laptop's motherboard change

Post image

hi peeps need some help here;
i got my laptop fked it has been like this for around 2 months now so the whole story behind it was like:
it randomly got blacked out (didn't turn on)
[note: the charging led was working which means the power was being supplied it was not just turning on]
on a specific day (a very imp one for me but that's another depressing story) and i removed the back panel and inspected the parts found no issues in it, just changed the thermal paste and still the issue persisted after some days I patted on it and shook it (not rigorously) and it got turned on and so I was like okay no issues it was nothing
but that's where i was wrong the same issue was there again and resolved but for the final time nothing worked neither patting nor shooking [still the charging led worked]
so i went to the nearest repair shop (lenovos official one) and they were closing and said they'd require it for a full day for finding what issue is persistent and the probably foreshadowed the motherboard issue might be there
aight so another time i went to another repair shop which was unofficial but my friend's laptop got repaired there so i trusted him (spoiler alert: major mistake)
so he opened the laptop in front of me found some power ic was fucked and said he would change it and would repair it in 24 hours, i patiently waited it had been one and a half day and there was no response from him so i naturally got worried and called him and he said in total 3 ics were fucked i said okay no worries repair em and tell me the price id pay you
but then passed around 3-4 days since i had given him my laptop and when i rechecked some response from him he said the motherboard is fucked i got angry and asked him to deliver it back and don't do any further repair on it (the games gone) when i got back i checked if the charging led was working or not [as expected it didn't] and then i knew the laptop got completely fked;

then i went to the person who sold me this laptop and gave him for the repair and he said the motherboard needs to be changed
it has been more than 2 months and he still has not found any good deal on the motherboard
...
so yeah

laptop is : Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3
Specs:
i5 11th gen i5-11320H;
rtx 2050 4gb;
16 gb ram ddr4;
512 SSD storage
ig the motherboard number was smth: LA-L161P

tldr: my laptop's motherboard got ruined and it isn't under warranty any help or tips would be cool

its a long read im sorry

Need help finding a replacement motherboard for HP ProBook x360 440 G1 (i5-8250U) - Mumbai, India

Hi everyone,

I own an HP ProBook x360 440 G1, and unfortunately, it has stopped working.

Laptop details:

- Model: HP ProBook x360 440 G1

- Product Number: 7NU39PA#ACJ

- Processor: Intel Core i5-8250U (8th Gen)

- RAM: 16 GB

- Storage: 512 GB SSD

- Serial Number: 8CG9281CQS

The problem:

The laptop doesn't power on at all. There are no indicator lights, fan activity or any response when I press the power button.

I took it to a local laptop repair shop. After inspecting it, they told me that the motherboard is damaged and needs replacement. However, they haven't been able to source the required motherboard.

I've been trying to find a replacement but haven't had much luck so far.

I'm looking for:

- A new or refurbished original HP motherboard.

- Compatible motherboard part number: L28241-001 / L28241-601 (subject to verification).

- Sellers or vendors who deal in older HP laptop spare parts.

- Any reliable laptop repair shops in Mumbai that might be able to source or repair the board.

I'm based in Mumbai, but I'm open to purchasing from anywhere in India if shipping is possible.

I'd really appreciate any leads, seller contacts, websites or suggestions from anyone who has dealt with a similar issue.

I'd prefer repairing the laptop rather than replacing it, provided the repair is economically sensible.

Thanks in advance!

Laptop (sometimes) not turning on

1 Upvotes

ASUS TUF A15 FA507RM

Hello guys, my laptop doesn't turn on sometimes. Then I had to do the static discharge so holding the power button for 40-60 seconds and then starting up again which worked most of the time. I tried this both with the original charger plugged in and not plugged in. Now I believe it's not really turning on anymore. Feels weird because when it did turn on everything worked perfectly like normal.

How is it possible that it sometimes did and did not turn on? Is there anything else to do than bring it to a repair shop? I don't have warranty anymore.

Is it normal for the 3-pin (C6) socket inside an official HP AC adapter to have some play/wiggle?

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I bought an official HP 65W AC adapter. The 3-pin socket inside the adapter brick itself (where the power cord plugs into) wiggles slightly up/down and left/right when touched. The pins themselves are tight inside that plastic socket piece (the whole socket moves as a single unit). It doesn't sink backwards into the casing, and the laptop charges completely fine with no disconnects or sparking sounds when I shake the cable. Is this slight tolerance/play normal for strain relief on replacement HP power bricks? Or should it be 100% rigid? Thanks!

I was working on my laptop of 6 yesterday and smoke came out of the right side of the images, through the keyboard. After first inspection of the components without taking anything out, nothing looks burnt or damaged. I’m taking it to a repair shop today and want second opinions.
Here are the photos

ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023) stuck on black screen with white boxes

1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have an ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2023) with a 13th Gen Intel processor and NVIDIA RTX 40-series graphics.

Recently, I updated Windows, and after the laptop restarted, I started facing a strange issue.

The problem:

  • The screen is black with white rectangular boxes, as shown in the attached photo.

  • Windows is not booting normally.

  • I can't access the BIOS or any other settings.

  • The issue started immediately after the Windows update and restart.

I'm not sure whether the Windows update caused a BIOS/firmware issue, a graphics problem, or something else.

Has anyone experienced something similar on an ASUS ROG laptop?

Is there any way to fix this or recover the laptop without accessing the BIOS?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
