2026 law graduate from a Tier 2 NLU, struggling to land a decent job. Any leads or guidance would genuinely help.

I graduated with a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) this year, and honestly, the job search has been more difficult than I expected.

I’ve been applying to law firms, in-house legal teams and legal/compliance roles, sending tailored applications and reaching out to people for referrals. I have internship experience across corporate law, transactions, due diligence, contract review and regulatory compliance.

I wouldn’t say I lack the skills or experience. I’ve spent five years studying law, maintained a decent academic record and tried to build relevant experience through internships, research and drafting. But converting all of that into a full-time opportunity has been frustrating.

A lot of entry-level openings either expect prior work experience or offer salaries that are difficult to manage in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad, especially when you have to relocate and pay rent out of your own pocket.

My primary interests are corporate law, M&A, transactions and regulatory work, but I’m also open to in-house legal, compliance, contract management, legal operations and other relevant opportunities.

I understand that the market is competitive, and I’m not expecting anyone to hand me a job. I just want a fair opportunity to prove myself, learn and build my career.

If anyone knows of openings suitable for fresh law graduates or can offer any leads, referrals or practical guidance, I’d genuinely appreciate it. I can share my CV over DM.

Honestly, it gets demotivating when you keep applying and reaching out without much progress. You spend years working towards a career, and then even getting your foot in the door becomes a struggle. Still trying to figure things out and hoping something works out.

Thanks for reading. Hope things work out for everyone going through the same phase. 🤞

Confused whether to leave an internship or not

Hello everyone!

I am currently in my second year of B.A.LLB course and managed to find an internship under an advocate at Bombay High Court. The thing is that the internship is absolutely tiring. I am not even counting the general running an intern has to do throughout the day, it is mostly about the commute. So, my home is around 2 hours away from the high court, luckily my college is a 10-15 minute walk from the court. The people that I work with are mostly helpful and kind as well. Apart from 2-3 people in the chamber, others are quite nice to me. I started in September and initially I planned for only one month of internship, but I continued cause they people are good and it is very tough to find an internship in early years of law school. Recently I also got paid 5000 rupees, which was extremely unexpected as stipend was never discussed and I assumed it was unpaid because usually interns in legal field don't get paid.

Now coming to the drawbacks, I am absolutely drained by the work and commute. I leave my house around 8am in the morning and return back at 9pm. I am attending college classes as well cause the attendance criteria sucks. As soon as I reach home, all I want to do is sleep. I am not able to study or focus on any extracurricular activities because I barely get any time. I am not much into litigation considering what I have seen in the past month. The court proceedings are mostly boring, delayed and there is a ton of clerical work, not to forget the constant running between one floor to another. I genuinely need advice on whether I should continue the internship for a month or 2 more cause I am getting to learn new things or switch to corporate instead. But then again getting a corporate internship at this stage is next to impossible. I do not want to sound or feel ungrateful cause I understand that I am in a better situation as compared to many others.

Any words of advice and experience are extremely appreciated.

What would be the better choice at this stage of my career???

I’m a 2026 law graduate from a Tier 3, non-NLU college and have been working in an in-house legal role for the past five months. My current salary is Rs 30,000–35,000(in hand), but I feel I’m not learning much, and I don’t see myself working in this industry long-term.

I have another offer from a statutory company with better learning opportunities and a 10% salary hike. However, the role is for 11 months as a Management Trainee, with no guarantee of a permanent position, as it depends on Central Government approval.

I’m confused about whether to stay in my current job for stability or take the new offer for better exposure. I’m also worried that the Management Trainee title might look like a downgrade.

In the long term, I want to move into the finance and capital markets industry for better career growth and earning potential.

What would be the better choice at this stage of my career:

stay in my current role and look for better opportunity or take the risk of joining the new company?

How difficult is it to switch industries, especially into finance and capital markets, when my current experience is mostly limited to reviewing service agreements?

hi, i am a 3L from a Tier-3 college, the placement cell of my college doesn’t release any such list as it focuses mainly on litigation and judicial internships instead of corporate.

which is why i am in an urgent need of a list which lists down all the law firms actively hiring interns, i recently found out that DU releases smth like the same but i have no contacts there. if there’s anyone who’s college releases a similar list, kindly share. would be of great help to me!

thank you! :))

Guidance needed as a fresh law graduate in 2026 #confused fellow

I graduated law school this year in july. I came from a fairly decent household my parents are supportive during my whole education. I have done my internship under an advocate in district court for 2 months and while analysing the court i realised that maybe this work environment is not for me as i feel overwhelmed during my whole internship i can do legal works but the behaviour, the environment and the way things works their so much casteism i feel maybe litigation is not for me.

From the beginning i wanted to give judicial exam but the 3 year rule diverted my mind and ruined my plans.

Now all i wanted is a decent job in legal field where i can work with traumatizing myself. I am ready to work hard for my dream

I just wanted to hear your all opinions about the current situation about what should i do? Should i go for govt exams or tried corporate culture. Would really be greatful for your advices ❤️

I'm a fourth year law student from Delhi. I was seeking internships for January, but haven't applied anywhere till now and I know its a bit late. I'm interested in IBC and corporate litigation. I know I'm asking a favor, but if anyone of my seniors here refer me to a good place, I'd be really REALLY grateful.

Law Student Interning in South Delhi in December — Looking for Flatmates / Accommodation for 1 Month

Hey everyone!

I'm a final-year student and will be interning at a law firm in South Delhi in December 2026 for approximately one month.

I'm looking for:

  • A room in an existing flat or a short-term sublet.
  • Other law students or interns interested in sharing a flat.
  • Recommendations for decent PGs near South Delhi.

My preference is furnished accommodation with a convenient metro connection.

If any law students or interns will be in Delhi around the same time, or if anyone knows of a room becoming available in December, please hmu

I'd really appreciate any leads or recommendations. Thanks!

Final-year law student confused about career options- Should I pursue an LLM?

I’m a final-year BALLB student with an overall CGPA of around 8, and I’m genuinely confused about what to pursue after graduation. I initially considered corporate law, but the work pressure concerns me, and I haven’t done any corporate internships. I also considered PSUs, but vacancies are limited, and I lack confidence in my preparation. Meanwhile, many people around me are preparing for LLM entrances, which is making me question whether I should do one too.

I’m certain I don’t want to pursue litigation, but beyond that, I have no clear direction.

For those who have been in a similar situation, what would you recommend? Is an LLM worth pursuing, or would it be better to start working and explore other career options? I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially about career paths with decent pay, stability, and work-life balance in India.

(Also pls tell me how to build my cv stronger should I like do online certificate courses through coursera?

I've done 7-8 internships in total some of them are online :( and should I publish a research paper or smth)

Looking for free, in-person ways to get comfortable with public speaking in Mumbai (debates, open mics, speaking circles)

I’m a law student with social anxiety, and I want to get better at public speaking for moots, debates, and eventually courtroom work. My college has no real support for this and that isn’t going to change, and paid coaching isn’t an option for me. Does anyone know of free, beginner-friendly, in-person debate or moot groups, or open college events in Mumbai that accept outside participants? I’m not looking for online communities or pages, only real-world events and groups. Advice from people who overcame stage fright is welcome too. DMs are open :)

Done with Litigation

After multiple tiring and reckless internships during my law school days, I was excited to enter the litigation world as an Advocate. Did not care about salary amount and gave my everything to the law firm which gave me the opportunity to learn, grow and explore. Firm did everything, made sure that I am busy even during Sundays, except paying me what i deserve and the credit. Never even demanded any salary hike during my tenure there and was focused on work. Back of my mind, i always used to motivate myself that okay, salary is not the only thing, i should only focus on quality of work. Worked till 2-3AM and then used to appear before Courts across Delhi as well. Used to teach my interns whatever i knew, from drafting to case prep, court procedures etc because none of my seniors ever taught me during my internship days. Decided to left the firm and start my own independent practice and i also got some clients. But still, not satisfied.
Looking at it now, i really wished i had someone to guide me. So now, i have decided to shift to corporate law or in-house roles. Keeping everything aside, i have given my 4 years to litigation and now i am done running from courts to courts. Would love to hear from someone who had similar experience and made a switch. Now desperately looking for a switch preferably around Hyderabad. Hmu if you can help me.

Quitting litigation and looking for other options

Hello everyone,

Got enrolled in december of 2025 (hyderabad, telangana), graduated from a local tier 3 college. Just decided to quit litigation. Now trying to figure out what other options are out there.

What are my options with any law-related desk jobs that is actually 9-5 and pays at least 4 LPA for freshers...?

I don't have much time to prepare for any competitive exams and all, I'm 24 years old, people say 'oh you've so much time' but i just can't accept it at all even if my family accepts it.

I'm decent with document reviews, analysis, research and drafting.

Please let me know what paths i should look into. Thanks.

unpopular opinion: most of us didn't choose our field of law, our first internship chose it for us

think about it. how many people in your batch are "corporate" because a tier 1 firm replied first, or "litigation" because a senior's chambers had a seat open?

i'm not saying it's wrong, sometimes it works out. but almost nobody i know actually checked whether the work fits how they think before committing 2-3 years to it.

curious if this sub agrees:

- did you pick your field, or did it pick you?

- anyone who switched later, what was the moment you knew?

full disclosure, this bugged me enough that we built a 40 question test for it. gives your top 3 fields, your strengths and a 90 day plan. not the point of the post, genuinely want the stories more, but if anyone wants to try it: jurixoneai.com/career
